Impressed how far Nintendo goes to make you update a game once the system knows an update is available. Also impressed how quickly they update the physical cartridges.
Most games have a 'day one update', to remove minor bugs and glitches, and to stop data-miners from discovering too much before the game is actually released.
Commies in Nintendo want you to experience "no flaws" ... idk why.

I’m pretty sure Pokémon doesn’t allow cloud saves because of duplication. Because cloud saves act like back up saves, you would theoretically be able to transfer a Pokémon to Home, then back up the Pokémon game and have all the home transfers in both home and the game.
Fair enough, I guess. Still annoying though.
Home attaches its own data to Pokemon data so it can detect and delete duplicated pokemon, but since it can only do so when you use it, this method could still be used to duplicate Pokemon caught since the last time you used Home... and Pokemon in that position could also be traded and then restored with a Cloud Save.

it’s amazing that nintendo is so strongly against cheating that they’d rather make their own customers miserable when it comes to managing their data than.. yknow. just acknowledge that some people will misuse it? in fact, the lack of save cloud compatibility for some of their largest titles like Animal Crossing New Horizons has stopped me from returning to the games AT ALL since getting an OLED. i had wiped my original switch’s data to give to someone else, assuming their biggest titles would have cloud save still only to find out i lost all my save data.
you’d think that some people cheating or using glitches is less of an issue than nintendo making all their players miserable by not supporting the games people would Most Likely want save back-ups for :/ but that’s just nintendo for you i guess
they could easily do some verification with the pokemon's unique ID and then no mon will be able to be transferred into home twice

No, they just ruin Speedrunners, the lowest of the low, the 2% of the players. They don't matter to the regular players like You and Me.

Apparently Florian reccommends the spring feet badge for Jump Jump Jump, so I tried it and it made the level a lot harder rather than easier.
When i fought final bowser i had the music off and struggled for a few attempts then i turned on the music and won.
Great video! Id love to see you go a step further, allow the badge stages to be played normally and/or try to manually constantly jump. See if you can get 100%, or how close to you can get

I’m glad I haven’t updated my version yet. Fr though Switch updates suck, one time I had to restart my switch in order to get my pro controller to connect to it again, but in the process of restarting, the switch auto updated Tears of the Kingdom EVEN THOUGH I TURNED AUTO UPDATES OFF which patched out the duplication glitches, which I was using in order to do things like get max armor levels. Thankfully, I had done most of the item duplication that I needed, but it still sucks.
Yeah, why can't Nintendo be more like Steam or Minecraft, allowing you download older versions at will?

Our family actually owns a Switch and _two_ Lites. One Switch for me, one for my brother, and one for his fiancée.

My one question is why you didn’t just play the game on the switch lite or on a friend’s switch that hadn’t played an updated mario wonder. My guess is it has to do with however you record switch footage?
Yeah, he responded to someone else saying that he can only record docked Switch footage, so the Switch Lite wouldn’t work

think ninty blocked save backups on pokemon games is to prevent it from being used to dupe pokemon. You know, back up your save, trade the pokemon away, then reload from backup and you've got two copies. No pro with switch archetecture, but if all your save data was stored on an SD card, you should be able to remove that, factory reset, and then when you're done with the glitch, put the SD card back in and have all your data back.
EDIT: ok, you mentioned the SD cards not working. ninja'd, apparently
Wouldn't it have been easier to just put SM Wonder only on the new switch? Or if you can't record off that, then maybe invest slightly more in a used regular switch and just reformat that? Heck, if nothing else, assuming you're doing this professionally(can't remember for sure) you could write it off on your taxes as a business expense

The stated reason for Pokemon games not being cloud capable is to prevent cheating. I didnt say it was a good reason, but it is the reason
I have always wondered why tf they won't let you back up pokemon games to the cloud - it's really annoying, especially when you have two switches. This is also the case for splatoon games... Completely ridiculous how they make you pay for an online membership and then some games can't even be backed up

That version scheme is called "SemVer," short for "semantic versioning." Each number means something different. Respectively, breaking changes, feature updates, and bug fixes. So, reading the number 1.0.1 says that there's been one patch update after the initial release of the game.

Sounds like you lost your mind trying to bypass the update. I would probably feel about the same way if I had to do that.
One possible side effect of this is that 1.0.0 cartridges will probably become more expensive, since they're evidently not being produced anymore, and some people such as yourself might want to have access to the pre-bugfix update. No idea what the discrepancy will look like, but hopefully it won't be too much.
I knew about to out of bounds glitch (oob) and knew about the patch because gamechamp made a coin less video (no any coins mini purple or yellow)

So, um... Why not just stimulate it on levels that force other badges? Like, spam the jump button, don't move while on the ground, etc.
Instead of traversing all saved data you should have just stared the new challenge on the switch lite.

Wow, half of this challenge is overcoming Nintendo's anti-fun policy, that's wild. Good stuff as always, though, unfortunate that you had to go through so much to skip one level , but it was necessary for research purposes and knowledge is power and all that.

If you were buying a brand new Switch anyways, why transfer all your data and factory reset your original Switch? Why not just play Super Mario Wonder on the new Switch instead and leave your main console alone? Or does the Switch Lite not work with physical game cartridges? (Not trying to be rude, just wondering if I'm missing something...)

I understand why you wouldn't for legal reasons, but it's funny that it genuinely would have been far cheaper and easier to get your switch modded - even assuming you'd have to get a modchip installed if your switch is too new to be softmodded - to get functionality that Nintendo should have just included by default.
For what it's worth, most of the bizarre lack of functionalities is to try to prevent hacking the system - save data injection was one of the first ways systems like the Wii and 3DS got hacked, and forced game updates help prevent those same kinds of glitches. Shame Nvidia screwed up the SoC so bad that any first-year switch can be cracked with a paperclip, and a $4 Raspberry Pi (plus extremely difficult microsoldering) can crack the rest.
There was a mobile game centered around this called Bean's quest and Bean Dreams but they both got delisted, but they're very cool you should try them out!
I'd already known about the hopps needed to play unpatched games from ceave gaming's attempts to reuse global ground icicles and from the many barriers to marip odyssey speedrunning where finding a 1.0 cartdridge is a really important step that makes those copies more expensive and hard to find. Still fun seeing the 12 labours be gone through trying to make a single glitch work.
it's honestly so sad how anti consumer fucking save data is, memory cards were never fussed about what console they were inserted into, most consoles allow you to still play a game if it's not updated, and cloud saving is just standard.
"oh people can duplicate pokemon" pc gaming has solved item duplication for well over a decade, include the id of the owner and time it was obtained, duplicating would also duplicate that data and if 2 pokemon have both of those tags be identical, merge them.

The reason Pokemon games aren't compatible with cloud saves is because they don't want people duplicating pokemon via restoring cloud saves after trading pokemon away, IIRC.
I hadn't seen any gameplay of this before, watching it feels remarkably like watching Kirby games

I did always running and jumping because an always invisible videos. Always running is easier than jumping for me.

You released this video just as I did a full spring feet 100% run (outside of non spring feet badge challenges and wonder seeds to get to spring feet, and for the latter I just went back and got them) just after I did a jet run 100% with the same ruleset. Still, congrats to you for using this annoying badge!
