The theme music is "The Eyes of the World Are On You", a popular dance band tune from 1936. There were only 20,000 TV sets, solely in the London area , in homes which could afford them, in 1946. Cinema audiences hit an all-time high in that year, a feat never to be repeated. All-conquering TV was on its way.
It only took 16 years until they had a short part of a baseball game (from Wrigley Field) relayed live to the UK as a segment of the July 23, 1962 Telstar broadcast. Now we're on the verge of the 50th anniversary of that!
Can you imagine? TV programs from other countries, that we can watch at home, while the event is going on! Why, it's like a science fiction story. I'll believe it when I see it, that's all I can say.

Wonderful. Amazing quality. Thank you.
Shot on 35mm film for showing in cinemas - this version from a 35mm dub to 1" tape. There are other copies on RUclips from VHS - beware. - Stefan

Thanks for posting. Too bad hat part three is blocked.
Winter Hill is now broadcasting, so no excuse not to buy a telly in time for the Queen’s Coronation. Goodnight and God bless; sweet dreams
