The fight was a million times more epic in the novel, Accelerator had a hundred black wings, he was terrified of Touma not angry and Touma didn't win with plot armor but precognition and pure unadulterated badass skill.

Yes, the LN fight and the setting was more epic and made sense.
In the LN, it was not touma who found accelerator in that state. Accelerator saw touma passing by without even noticing the kid that needed help. That made him angry because he was not right in the mind. "How dare a hero like him didn't noticed a person in need of help", that was his arguement. Accelerator didn't attacked lessar in the LN. Why would he? And also, accelerator himself wanted touma to defeat him and put an end to it. He was angry at himself more than the hero.
And also the 100 black wings, imagine breaker failing to negate the black wings, touma grabbing the wings to twist them and make a safe spot for him, accelerator theorizing touma's precognition and 'theorizing a counter against it'(?).
In the LN, the fight was a very close call. Touma could've died any moment. Touma won because of his experience in hand to hand combat as the fight turned into a close combat rather than ranged fight.
Lots of anime watchers say that this was plot armor for that reason. Kind of sad that the adaptions misleading in some areas.

The true version is using knowledge from past experiences to deal with upcoming threats, and can be obtained by anyone with enough effort. While the false version is a sixth sense that allows you to recognize and defend against danger, and can't be gained from training. The first is like fighting a boss monster in an rpg, then later fighting the same monster, and using your knowledge from the past fight to predict its moves, and see all its tells, while the second allows you to instantly recognize if somethings a threat, regardless if you encountered it before, and instantly take steps to counter it. One of touma's most important power is able to understand what to say to break the enemy's reasoning behind their action and their motive combine it with precognition and ib we get an op main character. And people call it plot armour that he wins against insanely strong opponents

@@jirouhanz2 i wouldn't say its talk no jutsu because touma knows what he is doing and deliberately saying things just to weaken enemy's morale and he said it himself that many time he just makes some random ideals up just to win against the enemy
@@jaideepsharma9349 It's more like on the spot t-n-j. He hears opponents motive, and makes up things to prove that what they are thinking is noting but illusions and then the line, "i'm gonna break that illusion of yours".

Touma has a surprising amount of empathy, allowing him to understand and sympathize with his enemies before deconstructing their motivations and, as the saying goes, "breaking their illusions".
Unlike most Talk no Jutsu practitioners though, this is his ONLY weapon he has in his arsenal against his enemies (his predecessors have powers capable of superhuman feats, while he has only his IB and street fighting skills) so he has made an art out of it.
I'd say that give him 10 more years, he can accurately assess a person's thought processes after absorbing scarce info about them.
He'd make a great psychologist, or chessmaster if he pushed himself harder than ever.

I believe that Touma can sense magicians, just not pure physical attacks like those from Saints. Didn't Touma instinctively felt something off about Stiyl when they first met that made him acknowledged that Stiyl was something he had never experienced before? Then there's Rensa that, by removing all subconscious moments from her body, could bypass his precognition despite having AIM.
Oh yeah he can still sense and react to supernatural attacks either magic or science, but im more talking about the purely physical and natural speed of saints.
Saints are indirectly supernatural. And fast enough to exceed his kinetic vision.

There are two weird variants of his precog, there’s a version of it that’s good against all attacks, and there’s a version of it that’s only good against supernatural attacks. At least until the Othnius fight, which touma was reacting to her attacks

i hope its okay if i explain more about the Accel vsTouma Part2. to those Anime only watchers. Touma right hand seemed to have the effect of negating any supernatural power.
However, because of limits there were cases where massive powers that couldn’t be negated completely ended up only blocked by the right hand. From what Lessar had seen, Fiamma’s special giant sword had taken a while before it was erased completely. to the main point now. in the LN he wasnt able to negate Black Wings completely. and he still has 100 Black wings to deal with. He really got a good clapping ass whoopin to Accel and almost dying. But whats more impressive how he overcome that. Normally not being able to negate something completely was a disadvantage to him. but Touma uses that disadvantage to his full advantage. He used that flaw of IB(not being able to negate something completely) to twist the black wings of Accel. (gotta remind that was Accel 100 BlackWings he's dealing with) He grabbed Accel Wings because if he cant erased it he can just block it meaning he can touch it i think. He twisted that Wing causing Accel to fall out of balance and created a small safe area while protecting his vitals when he was surrounded by the black wings and charged in to Accel and fck his Illusions. and Accel was countering his Precog too and making calculations how to counter it. and fighting in a safe distance. one more thing is how scared Accel was to Touma that fight. he really got chills to Touma. and my waifu Lessar said herself even if she had IB in her right hand she wouldnt have gotten thesame results in that fight. That WW3 arc provided us to greatly enhance Touma ability to fight. tbh a direct hit from the Black Wings would result to his death but because of Precog he fckin barely survive those black wings. Precognition is like predicting something before it could happen.
Ik. I watched the anime first cuz i usually watch anime. My thoughts on the first and second touma vs accel fight "ah of course plot armor". Then i was told to read LN and yes, the amount of excitement i got from those moments like, accel almost killing touma, touma reading accels movements and countering them, and finally touma punching accel. When i was an anime only i liked accelerator because he was the only good "written" character. In the LN my fav is still accelerator but touma is my second.
Technically, they showed precog in his fight with Fiamma in Index III, tho of course it's only shown and never explained.
But yeah this video will be helpful to many people coming from the anime. The new mic sounds good BTW!
Hmm, I think I know what you're referring to.... but not 100% sure... I mean he could have sensed it by other natural means. And technically he has used precog in even more fights in the anime whenever he reacts to attacks a normal human couldn't react to. What was missing is an explanation like you said.
If one considers the mental capacity many Esper abilities require, the precognition could arguably still be his Esper power, or at least it's shadow as without access to AIM the parts of the Esper brain normally responsible for manipulating AIM is freed up to be used for other things, and since one of the functions it would be doing in normal Espers is subconsciously crunching the numbers needed for the Esper to use their ability, it wouldn't be much of a shift to subconsciously processing environmentally data for reflexes
Yeah, people forget that Espers require extremely fast computational ability to use their powers even as a level 1, and most Level 5's computational powers already far surpasses modern supercomputers.

8:38 If it worked by sensing AIM energy then it wouldn't have worked against Birdway or other magicians he fights. Rensa and most of Accelerator's explanation implies that the "involuntary movements" are mostly physical and not referring to the esper energy.
But if it's that case then why it only work against supernatural abilities??
@@ren7686 The only person that implied that is Touma, who doesn't even fully understand that he has precognition in the first place. Both Rensa, Accelerator, and even the narrator say it's mostly based subconsciously picking up physical signs like muscle movements, blinking, etc.

Another great video! The audio sounds much better too with that new mic. One correction, if you're using the old Baka-Tsuki fan TL, I believe the translator of that was a user called Teh Ping. Js06 didn't start translating until NT2, if memory serves me right.

@@AeonofHorus He was the main translator for a lot of the Baka-Tsuki Index translations. There was one other guy, I think he went by Joal or something, who worked on some earlier volumes prologues at the same time Teh Ping was doing OT20, but he didn't have a hand in the main translation project. It was mostly just Teh Ping until NT.

Tbh I was considering it for this video.... but then I realised I am reading for like 6 minutes, from 3 pages.... if the bulk of the video was just the pages of the novel then I felt it would be uninteresting to look at. For smaller passages I will probably do it. Thanks tho :)

I always found this fight funny (anime only ) accelerator thought touma pulled up to stop him but touma seemed almost annoyed by accelerator like getting side tracked by an annoying side quest

IMO this is really shines when he fight Anna Sprengel in GT2, even the Acute version of St.Germain that infected him noticed this, and applaud in how he conclude things from scarcity of information during Touma-St.Germain duet .... even i who started from OT22 could see it clearly this ingenuity of him in NT & GT.
The way anime depict his way of fight is so....meh....swinging fist like an ape.
IMO at least it needs to feel similiar to How Tanjiro Kamado figths in Kimetsu no Yaiba
Touma is also Sociapathic, what we see in the LN/MANGA/ANIME is Index/Mikasa/Accelerator/Misaki filter of Touma.
What happened was Touma was picked on and had rocks thrown at him in elementary school because of Imagine Breaker it got so bad that the teacher encouraged the students to chase him out of school so his father packed him up and sent him to academy city

I like the idea that Touma has a precog esper ability. As for why he is a level zero and has an ability, well, its a rank assigned to him when they do tests to measure and determine abilities. We know IB can negate stuff so it perhaps negates the tests giving an inaccurate reading of Touma.
I'll always thought that some things can get through to that touma hand and some can't. Like iron sand is small enough to cancel once then cancel all meanwhile a literal brick if he touched it the cuz big enough it would still suck to get hit by it even if he cancel it.
It does make wonder in the past why don't use the hand as a shield like weapon

How can I get my friend into index/Railgun, but also keep him interested considering that the early arcs of both shows are so boring? I’ve been hyping up season 2 and beyond for both shows but I don’t know how to not underwhelm/turn him off from watching the show if he doesn’t like the beginning to each show. So basically how to I convince him to stay interested?
Maybe show him the sisters arc in railgun s. If he likes it then get him to start the novels.

I think season 1 of index does a lot of interesting things, Index and Deep Blood arc being extremely underrated. Index 1 feels the most natural start, especially when Railgun s1 is p mid.

Nice video but where was the outside stimulus for an avalanche of rocks and snow? also can we truly be sure that accelerator's explanation is correct cause rensa showed that Touma's precognition is crippled without reading facial expressions meaning Touma cant actually sense aim. Since it mostly relies on facial expressions that means he should be able to dodge attacks from the likes of acqua who's first attack was just him standing still and swinging his mace but he is rendered unable to react and has to have itsuwa bale him out the same itsuwa who was speed blitzed by terra who Touma defeated with relative ease.

With Saints it's like Sasuke's first fight with Rock Lee Touma may be able to predict thier attacks but what's the point if his body can't keep up he just lacks the lighting fast agility and speed to keep up with them.

This power's basically Spider Sense, but only against magic and supernatural powers, he still struggles and loses against normal fighters.
If this power extends to normal fighting like martial arts, Touma would be nearly unstoppable, only Saints have the upper advantage against him due to their superior speed and strength being a perfect counter against his Ultimate Eye.
It works on normal attacks too, it just seems less effective, but it still has helped him survive a completely non-supernatural land slide.

'Less effective' just means 'only as good as a gut feeling' in this case.
My point still stands, it wouldn't do much against normal attacks.
@@acrsclspdrcls1365 Less effective is relative, it doesn't put him on a normal human playing field. The land slide (more like a tsunami) I mentioned was 100 meters wide and 15 meters tall. He used his precognition to get out of it with no lethal injuries and went on to do another fight a few hours later. He's reacted to normal bullets and non magical attacks from saints.
I think for Touma, this would be fun to call "dragon sense" !!!

I think Touma really has a precognition because in Christianity, God has a power called All-knowing, it means that God knows the past the present and the future that is precognition but its still not complete yet. Remember Touma has a name called "The One who Purifies God and Slays Demons". I think the one who purifies God is the one Above God,
I always thought that there was one level 6 esper in this anime. I also thought there could only ever be one level 6 at anytime. So ya Kamijou Touma is level 6 and because his power is to “Deny ALL other power” there can’t be any other level 6. That’s why his power negates magic, blessings and esper power.

I don't understand why it is called precognition that is the ability to see into the future you see something happen before it happens it can be from a few moments to years into the future so that is why I don't understand why it is called that it should be called extensive analysis which is the ability to analyze something at an exponential rate along with adding that to touma's reaction time would make more since then precog.

The problem with precognition is, it's just a theory Accelerator was thinking about.
Even in the novels later, it's barely even mentioned. (and mostly it's useless)

Honestly for me, Precognition is just a sudden excuse for Toumas Plotarmor because the author thought:
"Oh right, let's add some random ability so we can explan why Touma always wins his fight. But don't forget, he is just a normal Highschool Boy and not special at all. We need to keep remind our readers that."
He doesn't even know himself he got this "power". Their enemy just assumes it.
It's not like Haki from One Piece, where this is an ability people know about.
The idea of Touma getting a new ability is not bad, but like this? Not for me.
Its actually hinted at early on in volume 1, so its hardly sudden. And its basically what carries him in fight in every major fight in series, even after this one. Fiamma, Birdway, Rensa, Othinus, all refrence his precog directly or indirectly and they all happen after this fight.
Touma, over the course of 7 months has done over 45 fights(more than some professional fighters do in their entire career) against various mages, assassins, espers, angels, demons and gods, each with their own bizzare gimmicks that Touma has to adapt to on the spot. And that excluding the 1000's of fights he's done with othinus.
Touma is a "beginner" in world were people his age can master several different fighting styles as children and essentially become child soldiers.

Even with precognition, how is he going to stop 100 tiny rocks or a massive bolder from killing him, even if he uses his right hand the weight of the rock would kill him, controlling vectors is one of the most broken abilities in anime, touma can’t compete.
