For fuck's sake. Kerry King's solo band just confirmed what most of us knew after listening to Slayer's "Repentless": King is not a very creative or original song writer 🤷♂️
Well in fairness its kinda hard to write original stuff when your so deep into your career unless you completely shift to a different genre, everyone has there strengths and weakness and techniques that they fall back on, back when Slayer started Kerry wrote a good amount of there bangers, every artist has a fall off, Repentless wasn't a great album either.
As a person who’s been listening to Slayer since 1986, who has seen them live at least nine times and considers them to be one of my favourite bands of all time, I might be considered by certain metrics to be a Slayer fan. Let’s just say that for a lot of bands of a similar vintage, the 90s wasn’t their finest hour. As we progressed deeper into the 21st century, however, it became clear that there was one particular classic, revered, 80s thrash band who were absolutely slaying it (pun intended) with every release, putting out banger after banger of an album. Kerry King is a metal legend but let’s be real. Jeff Hanneman is the heart and Dave Lombardo is the soul of slayer. I really don’t think Slayer becomes Slayer without those 2. And I would say as well that Kerry is the least talented member of that original lineup. Also “Heaviest thrash album”?
