- In this episode we leave the lovely little fishing village of Portmagee having had a great night with yet more fantastic food! Enjoyed more of the brilliant Ring of Kerry as we headed towards the Dingle Peninsula. Once again we were blessed with great weather and really enjoyed the route which hugged the coastline including a beach front cafe stop for Sue's mandatory ice cream!
The initial plan was to ride through Dingle and complete The Dingle Loop before heading back to our B+B, sadly, that plan was derailed by some major traffic problem so we had to abandon the idea and head back to Dingle. As disappointing as it was, it gave us more time to explore the delights of Dingle which was a bustling, colourful port town which boasts an impressive 53 pubs!
We naturally sampled a few of them and enjoyed a great night at The Dingle Pub with live Irish music and great craic with a couple we bumped into having a pre dinner Guinness. The following day we were heading to Galway via Kilkee Bay and the weather made our ride up the famous Connor Pass really memorable. It’s -7 degrees F this morning. I have the wood stove burning, coffee with my Springer Spaniel snoring next to me on the sofa in The Man Cave, as I watched this episode of your visit to Ireland. We are buried in snow so I’m working on my bikes and my 1978 VW bus, in the heated garage, getting them ready for spring. Only 3 or 4 months until I can get my knees in the breeze again. This is the start of ski season here in Canada. The Rocky Mountain resorts beckon. I go to a local Irish pub with their weekly music session. I will have to visit Ireland some day. So many pubs, so little time.

I can only echo what others comment, weather - check (especially good for Ireland) Roads - check, Accomodation- check, Food, guinness and the craig- check, and that ice cream! yum.

The incredible weather remains! How very lucky you were . Such a difference between blue and cloudy skies.. I can't wait to go back. @@midlifemotorcyclediaries It certainly does. Popped over to ride the NI coast a few weeks back. Mainly dry. The WAW is something else though. I stumbled over your Scottish Highlands re-mix a few nights back. My wife and I did pretty much that route in May, although, for a change, we headed from the Betty Hill Hotel back to Tongue and down to Lairg. I recommend it. Had the Betty Hill Hotel been refurbished when you stayed?
As for the Applecross Pass, I rode it in torrential rain and high winds in Sept 21, and didn't even bother turning off this year, due to the rain and low cloud. We actually had 6 days of rain after 5 weeks of wall to wall sun. Not so lucky, and not so great riding the route 2-up!
@@YoopaMan_Mad-Dave not sure if the Betty Hill had been refurbished 🤔 it seemed pretty good to us. I’d hate to do Applecross in really bad weather , especially 2 up 😱 - we were so fortunate with the weather when we did it! 👍😀

Wow I didn't know Ireland did weather this good. Lovely scenery in this one with a proper traditional Irish welcome in the evenings.
Sue told me every time she had been to Ireland (about 20 times!) it had always rained! So we were fully expecting to get wet at sometime - we were very lucky! 🌞 hopefully it will be the same next time 🤞😀 its a beautiful country and even more so when the sun shines! 👍😀

In particular Dingle !!brings back memories of our great tour there a few years ago , maybe next time visit Dickmacks pub there , it's world famous for its visitors like Tom Cruise,Dolly Parton etc etc who's hand prints are in the concrete outside the front door. wish we were there 😅

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries no I didn't. I did The wild Atantic way from Killarney to the Ring of Kerry ,Valentia. The Dingle Peninsula up to Galway. Limerick, Dublin and on to Belfast , and ran out of time . I found Ireland was a lot like Newfoundland .love ever Km .

Hello Brian The rules are Murphys in Southern Ireland, Guinness in Northern Ireland allegedly. I must admit to enjoying Murphys more than Guinness
Oh no! 😱 I remember having Murphys at College but my heart is with Guinness! But at least that augurs well for our next Irish adventure when we head further north! 👍😀
Correction: I think you have that rule confused. Here in Ireland it goes: Guinness in Dublin and Murphys in Cork. But of course no-one adheres to this. 👍☘😊

A suggestion: Your videos would be greatly improved by ‘on bike’ commentary between some of the (excellent) music…🇮🇪🇬🇧

We really fell in love with Ireland and can’t wait to go back 👍 re. on bike commentary we decided when we started we didn’t want to compromise the integrity of an expensive helmet by sticking bulky cameras with mics on the front/side - I know some people prefer that kind of commentary - that’s why Missenden Flyer is so popular! 👍😀

Sorry but also don’t really agree with your comment about Missenden Flyer (about quarter million subscribers) plus his recent Canadian “adventure” isn’t that great as he’s mostly on freeways and hardly ever goes to small towns.
Noraly (Itchy Boots has around 1.5 MILLION subscribers and uses ‘on helmet’ and ‘on bike’ cameras). If you haven’t already watched her most recent 1.5 hour movie about her trip to Alaska open a bottle of wine and take a look…..IT’S FANTASTIC!!

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries Please don't change your current format. It's so much more relaxing - almost therapeutic! - soaking up all that beautiful scenery with just relaxing music playing. Commentary would be invasive and an unwelcome interference in the moment. You seem to have hit the right balance: suitable accompanying music + useful captions naming the towns + interesting narration as required. People have different tastes so it's great that different biker channels do it differently and this means there are channels for every taste. Keep up the great work! 👍☘😊

Why are there no trees?

I saw lots of trees in the shots away from the coast. If you mean along the coastal roads, it is because the terrain is notoriously rocky around Ireland's perimeter, and tree roots need a minimum depth of soil. But it has turned out to be an advantage since all these amazing coastal views in Ireland are unhindered by trees, as are the lakeshore roads in many of the shots.
