@@40101Mortem Yes, but it really doesn’t matter to my theory how many bodies there are aside from the two pilots. Also as long as they are not on the plane, we can not say for sure that that is were they came from. There is a lot of scrap on the island, a lot of it with the post soviet Russian flag from 1991-1993 on it, plus the Chimpanzees from the Soviet Union space program were also left behind on Madagascar. It‘s reasonable to assume that Russia (or formerly the Soviet Union) in this world either dumps their scrap onto the island or have had major crashes on the island, which also explains the other bodies. All Hail King Julien takes place around 1999-2005, there were many opportunities between that time and 1939 that other people could have crashed or stranded here
Another thing to consider is, why in hell would the plane navigator be sitting in first class wearing a tuxedo and top hat? He's a navigator, he's supposed to navigate, in navigating clothes and in the cockpit Considering that the plane belongs to a french tourist company, the island of Madagascar was a french colony from 1897 to 1958 and King Julien is a massive, massive bullsh•tter (there is NO way a lemur has visited the entirety of a 587k Km² island, he has absolutely no idea if there are other humans or not), I think it's safe to say that this is just a random tourism plane that went down due to some malfunction
Thats true, however I still think that it was originally supposed to be Amelia Earhart. In the first movie there is only the 2 pilots visible and we dont see the magazine etc yet. Except that it is a plane flying to Madagascar, in the first movie there isnt really anything different from the real plane. Also, at an earlier point in the movie we see a newspaper that says „Amelia Airhart found“ which is 100% a reference to Amelia Earhart The thing is, Madagascar was never inhabited by humans in the Madagascar franchise. In the All Hail King Julien show we see practically the entire island over the course of the 6 seasons, theres the lemur kingdom, mountain lemur kingdom, Crocodile kingdom, rat kingdom, aye-aye kingdom and so on, so there are definitely no humans on the island. The only maps of Madagascar that are visible in the franchise (except for ones drawn by animals) only show the silhouette and some locations around the shore. And the only rare instance of humans on the island is a handful of scientists we see in an episode of All Hail King Julien, however they dont live there and they arrived there ~40 years after the plane crashed
Agreed also Madagascar is a massive Island as you mentioned its entirely possible they just crashed in what is a modern nature preserve, or otherwise uninhabited area of the landmass so large you can see it from space
It has to be Amelia Earhart because in the scene in grand central station the penguins are reading a newspaper and on the bottom left it says “Amelia earhart found on rural Island of Madagascar”
They say „Amelia Airhart“ but yes youre right Most likely this was supposed to be a reference to Earhart, but they did not put much thought into it afterwards and messed it up a bit
I have a feeling that the writers intended to make this actually Earhart's aircraft, especially with making an effort to get a magazine from the time period. Yet they knew this will be impossible, but still kept it in and didn't attempt to explain why she will be there. Regardless, I had a good time watching this
Thanks for the comment! I also actually think its supposed to be a Lockheed Electra but they didnt go through a lot of effort for the other details. The rest of the theory is really just me trying to make it work in the canon of the franchise, even though the writers intention was most likely different. Also it is noteworthy that the magazine and other bodies etc were all not visible in the first movie. In Madagascar (2005) the only things different from reality were that the plane had 3 blades per engine and that they landed on Madagascar instead.
Yeah especially considering how Amelias plain was a competitive plane meanwhile this plane is obviously not a competitive plane it's a commercial airliner that does tours of Madagascar
It definitely is a fictional plane and a fictional crew and its a fictional movie but I am sure this is an intentional reference, especially since in the first movie we only see the 2 bodies of the pilots, as well as the plane, and also in the first movie there is a newspaper saying „Amelia Airhart found“ This 100% has to be a reference to Earhart that they just did not put very much research into and messed up a bunch of details like the engines having 3 blades each All the other contradictions like the magazine and such were added in later movies and shows
I think it's just a French passenger plane that crashed while carrying tourists to Madagascar. - The skeleton you propose to be Newman is just a passenger of the first class, not a navigator. Look at his clothes, which may I add are also not time period accurate but get across the ''vibe'' of a rich, posh person from the past. - Just like the shirt with pineapples which is supposed to show a ''typical'' person on vacation. - The iconic ''pilot clothes'' are supposed to show ''this is the pilot'' even tho, yet again, they do not fit the time and place. - One pilot being called Amelia is just a reference. - Also, I'm not entirely sure about Madagascar not having any human population. I always assumed the movies, shorts, and shows just take place in a far remote part of Madagascar where humans don't venture.
@@kingagrabowska9366 The details do not match exactly, but in the first movie there is a lot more matching, as you only see the two pilots and no other bodies, the magazine isn’t shown yet etc. The first movie also has a newspaper in it that says „Amelia Airhart found“ The plane is a pretty good match to the real one and they as I said name the skeleton Amelia Theres some huge contradictions but it definitely is an intentional reference to Earhart that they just did not put much thought into afterwards. About no humans living on Madagascar, in the All Hail King Julien show you see almost the entire island, and you see maps of the island and the entire island is divided by different nations only inhabited by animals (the Lemur Kingdom, Fossa Territory, Rat Kingdom, Crocodile Kingdom etc). The only maps of Madagascar drawn by humans (For example on the SS Act II (the freighter in the first movie)) have no locations on them, except for a handful of locations along the shore being named. No humans live on Madagascar in this franchise, from the Space Chimpanzees in the All Hail King Julien show we learn that the soviet union dumped a bunch of junk onto the island (we also see a junk yard with many old machines that have the Russian flag from 1991-1993 on it). The only exception are three scientists in a portable laboratory that we see once in AHKJ season 3, who are there to research lemurs.
@@madagascastI’ve never watched the show so idk, but the Wikipedia article on AHKJ says that it takes place “In an uninhabited islet off the coast of mainland Madagascar” sooooooo
@@madagascast I suspect that the pilot hanging in the tree is the navigator and Amelia is the pilot in the plane. The others were passengers on this flight. First class (skeleton with top hat and suit) and second class (Hawaiian shirt and shorts). As said, it makes no sense that someone in a top hat and suit is the navigator. Amelia probably did a few sightseeing flights/tours to Madagascar for work after her flight around the world. Perhaps Amelia was chosen to fly to the uninhabited island because of her experience. People have always been explorers and a tropical, still untouched island attracts many adventurous people. Perhaps something went wrong on one of these tours and they were stranded there. Maybe it was one of the first flights to Madagascar (promo on the plane, that you can now visit per plane etc.) and people wanted to build hotels and holiday resorts there in the future, which never happened because of this crash (bad omen). Since not all of the passengers were skeletons on the plane, I assume that some survived and were rescued. Perhaps the plane and the rest were searched for and then they were found. That's why the article in the newspaper came about.
So uh... Here's my take: It's a tour flight to Madagascar. Probably on her maiden voyage paid for by the rich dude trying to dip his toes into being an entrepeneur. The pilot and co-pilot dress up like Emelia and Fred as part of the fun of the trip. The plane also closely resembles Earhart's... As for the final skeleton... Maybe they were the rich man's son? Or the cruise manager? Or even someone who got on the wrong plane? But he's definitely French. You can tell because he's missing his head. (The French are known for their beheaddings.)
I think it is definitely a reference to Earhart even if it isn't her And I have to admit now I am mad that I didn't come up with the beheading thing myself XD
Nope. Its the steering for the tail wings. They atached a wire from the cockpit to the tail wings. (Why i think so? Becuse all planes from 1920-1950 had this Mechanism)
@@Swedish_bias88 I despise your terrible attempt at humor. Though upon doing some research I was right on it being an antenna, just it is a weather radar antenna and not a radio antenna.
1:40 Small correction, I speak french as a first language. A better translation would be "Come visit Madagascar by plane". That kind of slogan is an incitation
I actually want to make a video about that soon The movie is sort of a caricature of itself. It tries to make fun of the New Yorkers (the Zoo animals) being unable to survive in the wild because of their easy life in America, but the movie itself also has the same narrow US-American world view by not even acknowledging that humans live on Madagascar
1:12 The hoop is an ancient way of homing onto a radio signal, it makes a noise when you plane is not pointed at the signal then stops when you are pointed in the correct direction, my flight instructor called it the Hoop Of Silence.
@@u.n.reviews7359 Thanks for the info! I already got a few comments about this being used for the radio signal but nobody explained it as well and as detailed as you did! Thank you for the comment ❤️
Its possible that in the movie timeline, Earheart and Nunan, after they successfully made their flight around the world, became even more famous. Their skills were admired even more and they were tasked with flying the first expedition ever to Madagascar. Due to the confidence the public had in them, it was made as a tourist trip with civilians on board, presumably sponsored by the rich man in the first class. Of course this would spark massive media attention, as did their disappearence. This would also explain why there were no humans on Madagascar since no one would dare to fly to it anymore after the most famous flight duo of the time died.
The ring on the roof is a direction finder if I remember well. You'll need a ground station and a reasonably good heading to be able to use it. The one on Emilia's aircraft have apparently been problematic, and the crew that was supposed to give her a signal haven't exactly succeeded at their job.
I think the plane was heavily modified because it looks like it has a DC 3 and DC 2 parts, or maybe it was an early variation or prototype. And i think what caused the plane to crash is because it would have engine problems, thus forcing the pilots to emergency land, only to crash on a tree. This is only my opinion.
Yes thats also possible I still think that it definitely is not supposed to be one of those I feel like it very clearly was a reference to Amelia Earhart and her plane, theres just a lot pointing towards that, but they just didnt put much thought into it afterwards Theres also a newspaper in the first movie saying that „Amelia Airhart“‘s plane was found so I think it definitely is an intentional reference But yeah as I said in the video the plane doesnt fully match, and other details later on also contradict it
I also think its good to account that people could totally survive a plane crash like that and that there were probably a lot of people originally taking an expedition to Madagascar which implies those who survived found a way out and left those who were already dead to rot into those four skeletons.
I doubt it's Earhart's plane, these are likely just some other pilots and visiting tourists. The skeleton in first class looks very well dresses, possibly rich enough to book an entire airplane for himself which would explain the lack of passengers. Tho it could also be explained that a group of scavengers got to them first and what 4 remained simply decomposed before the scavengers got to them
It is more likely, but based on all the evidence I show in the video I am still sure that the writers meant to make this a reference to Amelia Earhart, even though they did not put much thought into it after the first movie If one completely disregards the writers' intentions, on its own your theory is definitely more likely Thanks for the comment!
so, i mean not to change your train of thought, but in the movie the news says that amelia "airheart" has beed found in madagascar, so i believe it is her, but that is me
I would argue that it won't be Emilia because it is a passenger airliner and the writing on it indicates that it is most likely either launch form french or french colonies, with the top hat skeleton seated in a possibility first class seat and the Hawaiian shirt skeleton seated in the economy arrangement, which a fashion would only be possible be after mid 1950s, and the economy seat setting created post WW2 (Before WW2 airplanes usually only have 1 setting, instead of two), I would suggest it would more than likely be a 1950-1960s flight, from french instead of America. The magazine was likely a relic of colonial airlines haven't updated the onboard reading materials.
Is it just me or does the headless skeleton at the back along with the word Tour written on the plane implies that there were a lot more people in the plane before the crash and i think "Fred Nunan" is nothing more than a passenger that signed up for first class
Ones which survived escaped plane, other four ones didn't survive crash landing and stayed in place. I wonder what happened to rest of tourists. ALSO, who knows, maybe Amelia in this alternate reality survived and later went for vacation on Madagascar. Problems arose and she took pilot seat trying to save flight.
There’s a 4th body im pretty sure, during the first movie if I’m remembering correctly when Alex ask where the humans are Julian points to a body hanging from a tree, meaning there would be 4 bodies
Another possible model for the plane is the Douglas DC-3, sure the tail isn't the same and it had more seats than the movie one, but it still looks almost identical, and was a popular commercial aircraft in the 30s
That is also possible, but since the other evidence clearly shows that this is (or at least at some point was) supposed to be a reference to Amelia Earhart I think the Lockheed Electra or Super Electra are more likely It is actually also plausible that they maybe referenced the Douglas DC-3 in the design on accident, because they probably wanted to make it a Lockeed Electra but put some parts of the Super Electra into the design
Some comments have mentioned that the ring is an antenna. It's specifically an antenna for a radio compass. It's an American plane, like the Lockheed Super Electra, it would likely be a Bendix Radio compass. The pilot would tune the radio to the frequency of a radio beacon. There would be an instrument in the cockpit that would either point toward where the beacon is or it would have a needle that pointed left, right, or center depending on the course of the aircraft. This technology evolved into more sophisticated radio navigation equipment.
I just accidentally stumbled on your video because it was on autoplay after a previous video I watched (which had nothing to do with DreamWorks), but I think I'm gonna subscribe anyway

@@madagascast Well, I came from a Yogi Bear video. Specifically, it was a video for the song "Whistle Your Way Back Home" from the movie "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear"
It's an alternate universe, the fancy skeleton and the Hawaii shirt skeleton can easily be explained. Example, the fancy dude could have been a rich guy who wanted Amelia and Fred to fly him to Madagascar because it is uninhabited and the man wanted to profit off of it. The Hawaii shirt dude? First shirts like that appeared in the 20s and 30s, so it's either someone the fancy dude pulled along, or someone crash landed/ drowned near Madagascar later on (60s and 70s) and the lemurs, thinking God knows what, just pulled him onboard the plane with the rest, kinda like girls playing with Barbies, except it's dead people. That's just my theory, and I'm not gonna lie, a channel like yours is making my inner child very happy.
The plane is actually a hybrid of three different Electra models, not just Model 10 and Model 14 but also Amelia's Model 10 which is not an ordinary Electra, the nose of the plane is not as long as a Super Electra, it matches the Model 10, the two main landing gears are also from the Model 10 but yeah the blades and the number of seats are based on the Super Electra but there is also one important thing that you mentioned about it, that ring on top of the plane is exactly from Amelia's plane, the plane was an Electra 10E which only 15 of them were produced by Lockheed and even the other fourteen 10Es didn't have this ring, at least on that time , Amelia's 10E went through many modifications including the addition four auxiliary fuel tanks in the passenger compartment, a navigator’s station to the rear of that, elimination of passenger windows, installation of a Sperry autopilot and various radio and navigation equipment and additional batteries, that ring was one of those navigation equipment, it's an RDF or radio direction finder.
Obviously the weird thing on top of the plane is because it was the teletubbies plane, piloted by Po, and the other three skeletons are Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Tinky-Winky
7:30 what if, the aircraft was a transport plane with a bloke pilot and two passengers that got either shot down later then 1939 or suffered some sort of catastrophic engine failure or got bird striked
@@ronwapossibly Well I don't remember the island but I heard that robert the same one that discovered Titanic and Bismarck wrecks. Found a plane that was like the plane of amelia. I forgot the stuff. Pls search it
Details like this is what makes this movies really unique, it shows the dark and gritty reality of death, being forgotten and lost in nature, all that hidden behind cartoony talking animals
Personally, I think the writers were only referencing Amelia Earhart and possibly her plane, as most people forget about/don't remember Fred Noonan. I also forgot about him until you mentioned him in your video. But if he is referenced I don't think Fred is is the skeleton in the tuxedo, as that doesn't make sense in universe or as a reference. | Though if he is referenced he'd definitely be the pilot hanging from the tree. I also think the passengers were just passengers, and not intended to be a reference. If just the pilot and the plane shape were the reference, that would explain why the plane is a french tour plane. And then you don't also have to try explain or figure out why Amelia the American pilot was flying a French tour plane.
The engines are not turbines. They are radial piston engines. This is an engine style common on aircraft from the 1910's to the 1940's. Also, the ring on the top of the fusilage is a UHF Radio antenna.
Thanks for the constructive criticism! For this video I didnt always have much to show and I figured it would be boring to just show the same 2 pictures of the skeletons and the same 2 pictures of the plane, so I decided to do the background so that theres a little bit of movement on the screen. I'll definitely change it up for future videos :)
@ yeah no it was fine to have it and to change it too but it felt a little too chaotic at times but it was a neat idea, same with the paper sounds when changing scenes
I always thought the aircraft was a beech model 18, but seeing the evidence put forth it does make sense thst its a locheed twin electra. Perhaps the pilot was amelia but the plane was probably not her iconic twin electra and was on loan or rented from a local charter that flew tour flights to madagascar.
so maybe it's an alternated reality, where amelia earhart and fred noonan DIDNT crash on that famous flight, then couple years later (some time after may 1939 after that magazine was published, they opened up a tour guide airlines, where they take tourists over madagascar, and it was THEN, when they crashed, but this time with at least two other passengers onboard
The "ring" on the plane is actualy a attena where the radio/atenna lines where conected to from the back tailfins back to the ring to get a better comnection to the ground crew this also was populair on the bf-109 for exampel :D
The ring on the plane, I think I know what it is. It is an antenna which receives a Morse code signal, and depending how clear it is, one can determine if the plane is heading in the right direction of an airfield.
I think the 3D artists for Madagascar 1 wanted to make it Amelia Earharts plane but the artists for Madagascar 2 didn't know that and put a random headless 80s guy in there
That hoop antenna was most likely part of what ships and early aviation used to used know where they were at sea before the advent of GPS, RDF (Radio Direction Finder) if my memory serves correctly. Plane wise I think the earlier models of the DC-3 Douglas would also be a likely candidate for the aircraft as well. DC-3 are still flown all across the globe to this day as well and is an easy to reference model for any studio.
I'm not sure how this video ended up in my recommended, but it was kinda interesting. I don't know if it makes any significant change to Madagascar lore... but it definitely make sense.
The plane's probably hard to nail down as it's most likely a situation like you'd find in CoD or whatever, where it's meant to be a Lockheed Electra, but due to licensing and or not having decent enough reference material, they just made it look generic for the given era it's meant to be from. It could also be something like Thomas from Thomas the Tank Engine, who looks a lot like an LB&SCR E2 but is still fictional. It doesn't need to be exact, as it's a set piece. It could easily be a mix of say, the Beechcraft Model 18, Lockheed Electra, just a generic enough, era appropriate plane, to fit the setting without needing the hassle of dealing with licensing and that. Talking with Lockheed for the sake of a kids movie isn't high on priorities, I'd imagine :P Although it's nice to finally see a video of the plane being talked about in depth and the theories surrounding it, it's been too long since I've seen the movies XD Good video!
Yeah that’s exactly what I am thinking I‘m sure thats it was supposed to be a reference to Amelia Earhart and her Electra but they did not put much thought into it afterwards because nobody will care anyway
The roof ring reminds me of an aerial/antenna. I've seen it in a Scooby doo episode which was made in the late 60s early 70s. In the episode it's used on the mystery machine to track down Scooby Doo using radar. This ring may have been used for radar irl, maybe not on airplanes though.
It could also just be sumone who drafted to the island. I don’t remember if there any of the animals use a raft or an inflatable one though. If they do it’ll explain the new ppl. 🤷🏽♂️
I do not believe that the plane has any direct connection to Emilia Erhardt in universe. The alusions to the famous flight are nothing but references and winks to the audience but has no bearing on in universe canon. Why would Emilia fly trips to Madagascar from France of all places? It simply makes no sense! It is just a commercial trip for rich frenchmen (Emilia's copilot wouldn't be dressed in a fine evening attire, it is simply a passager). One last thing to mention, the ring on top is most likely an antenna. I'm no aviation expert though, it's most likely just a cosmetic addition.
Yes that does make more sense! I‘m still very sure it is a reference and also that it was at some point supposed to be Earhart‘s plane If you only look at the first movie, which is the first time we ever see this plane and these bodies, all that we see is the plane itself which I still think matches very well, and the 2 pilots. The magazine and other bodies etc arent visible Also in the first movie there is a newspaper in an earlier scene saying „Amelia Airhart found“ all this to me seems like they wanted to reference Earhart but put very little research into it and made a few errors And then later in Merry Madagascar, which plays right after Madagascar, they name the pilot Amelia And then of course the other details added later on don’t quite work anymore either Youre right that it doesnt work together very well, but it definitely is an intentional reference to Earhart that they just didnt put much thought into afterwards
I believe the ring on the roof of the plane may have something to do with catching radio waves for communication, due to a bunch of stuff involving the ionosphere and the Earth’s electromagnetic field and how they interact with radio waves. I only know that cause of a video that discussed Amelia Earharts disappearance in detail, including how her plane was rigged up for radio communication.
Even though Amelia's aircraft was passenger originally, it was heavily modified. EVERYTHING useless, weighting down the plane was removed, and extra fuel tanks were installed. So even if it was Erthart aircraft, it would look like that internally.
To me it looks like a Douglas DC-1 or DC-2, it looks more similar then the Model 10 Electra or the upgraded triple blade one similar, the timeline matches with it flying in 1939 and it had triple blades factory
I find it interesting how in the first and second movie we see human skeletons and in the third movie we see stuffed animals instead it was probably a coincidence but it's an interesting "theme"
I distinctly remember in the first movie a skeleton in a pilots outfit with a parachute hanging in the tree. Mostly because the scene where it is shown jump scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
This is technically a non-sequitor, but there are a bunch of vultures in two different levels in Madagascar, the game, (on PC and bigger consoles), and Madagascar buzzards are a real thing.
@@DanialTarki Oh yeah that makes sense! I would not consider this in a theory because the games are not part of the canon, but as you said Madagascar buzzards are real so at least we can speculate that this could actually be the case Thanks for your comment!
Visitez iwould be the plural conjugation but is also the conjugation of the verb you use when addressing people who are not personally close to you. The plane just says "Visit madagascar by plane" and is either addressing a group, or an individual with whom the pilot does not have a close personal relationship. Essentially, that conjugation of the verb is the default when talking to someone you dont know well.
About the ring on the roof I don't know if I am the first to mention this this ring can be used to find the direction of a radio wave it only works if radio goes frow the ring if it comes from the side it doesn't amilia airhart had this device on here plain
The ring one top a radio antenna. Those plans had a two form radio. One that was AM/FM and the other was more powerful and located on the bottom and looked like metal rods running the length of the plane.
Perhaps there are a few more details that could be considered. For starters which nearby countries where French controlled that would have put the decals on the plane. If we can ascertain which countries would likely have these tours of Madagascar in 1939, we can try to decide which direction the plane is facing in the movie to geographically trace it's path back. Obviously the flight would have to occur after the date on the time magazine so we could try to figure out when the local area would have released it or if it were delivered by overseas mail. It is also possible but not likely the pineapple shirt person somehow arrived at another time, a shipwreck perhaps, and lived there until they died.
I think there ring would have a cable run through it that controlled the rear rudder things that i forgot the name of, pretty much so they can turn left or right. Or it was an antenna, ive seen it as both
hello plane fan! im another plane fan right here to answer your cable question i think its a antenna on the plane for radio frequencies or perhaps a way to attach the plane controls? or it could be used for structural support
hate to be that guy, it a plane based on the dc 1. that ring is a direction finding loop antenna . a bit of history that might help it operated it for a few months before selling it in France in October 1938. It was then sold to Líneas Aéreas Postales Españolas (L.A.P.E.) in Spain in November 1938 . good luck!
But why would Amelia Earhart fly a commercial plane? Its quite obvious that the guy in front is supposed to be some rich guy in first class, and the 3rd body is just regular class. Also there being 3 skeletons doesnt mean this was the only people on the plane as the plane itself is mostly intact. They could have just died in the initial crash and the others who did survive went on to leave the plane and try to survive on some other part of the island. Or they might have died at sea trying to escape using a raft. After some digging I believe that the plane is supposed to resemble a L-10/ L-14 Electra which would fit the time period of the date seen on the time magazine. Amelia Earhart did fly a L-10 Electra when she disappeared, but the magazine and 3rd passenger (not to mention only 1 out of the 3 bodies are wearing pilot gear) makes it pretty unlikely its actually her. Might be just another reference by the writers.
my theory is it could be an Alternate Universe where Earhart survived and this could have been a 2nd attempt at a world flight with a Earhart, and Fred being in the Cockpit during the crash (Fred jumped out hence the parachute skeleton), with the Mechanic (Headless skeleton) and a person to record (Guy in 1st Class). This time they took a longer route via Madagascar and while in a previous stop added the tour of Madagascar as a way of encouraging explorers to visit and explore Madagascar. But unfortunately they crashed.
The ring is a old radio antenna. These were common on many WW2 and after aircraft. Now it does resemble a model 10 and model 14 oddly. The wings are tilted upwards slightly like the model 14 but it has a model 10 pair of engines... Which actually makes sense as a lot of tourist companies ran them cheap and essentially repaired old ww2 bombers with parts from other planes. So I don't think it's amelia and her navigator. Just a French tourist company with a passanger.
Eh, the pilot being "named" Amelia and using some clothes very similar to what she used is probably just a little reference they managed to sneak in there, as well as the time magazine. Pretty sure everything else is fictional, even the airplane being a sort of mix of multiple models from the late 30's. It's cool to speculate, being a fictional world and all, but I just don't think it goes that deep.
A fictional plane with a fictional crew is likely the true answer. But. If we had to make this work could the case be argued that rather than crashing like is assumed that they secretly landed and staged their own deaths, running away from their normal lives to live it up in the tropics together. use their plane to start up a small touring company to make cash. This way it explains the two extra skeletons as passengers, the date, and potential upgrades to the plane. Look it's a wild headcannon you could make but it's the only way to line it all up in my mind if you wanted it to be her.
I dont fully agree with your headcanon but it is a very interesting approach I think the true answer is that this was an intentional reference to Amelia Earhart, but it got a bit lost when they added the magazine and the other passengers etc. in later movies and shows. Because of this we *have to* make our own headcanons to make it work. I dont think yours is any more or less likely than mine, but I appreciate that you shared your ideas :) Thanks for the comment!
The only thing about this theory is the plane looks like it's supposed to be plane for holidays come to visit in Madgascar sounds more like a plane for a holiday tour not a expeditions. The only thing I can think is maybe julien saw the sticker or paint in the cove of wonders and decided to customise the plane.

Considering that the plane belongs to a french tourist company, the island of Madagascar was a french colony from 1897 to 1958 and King Julien is a massive, massive bullsh•tter (there is NO way a lemur has visited the entirety of a 587k Km² island, he has absolutely no idea if there are other humans or not), I think it's safe to say that this is just a random tourism plane that went down due to some malfunction
Thats true, however I still think that it was originally supposed to be Amelia Earhart. In the first movie there is only the 2 pilots visible and we dont see the magazine etc yet. Except that it is a plane flying to Madagascar, in the first movie there isnt really anything different from the real plane.
Also, at an earlier point in the movie we see a newspaper that says „Amelia Airhart found“ which is 100% a reference to Amelia Earhart
The thing is, Madagascar was never inhabited by humans in the Madagascar franchise.
Momo I think that's a very plausible theory.
Agreed also Madagascar is a massive Island as you mentioned its entirely possible they just crashed in what is a modern nature preserve,
or otherwise uninhabited area of the landmass so large you can see it from space
@@An_Ian Madagascar is not inhabited by humans in the Madagascar series. I explain this in detail in my reply to the comment you replied to
It has to be Amelia Earhart because in the scene in grand central station the penguins are reading a newspaper and on the bottom left it says “Amelia earhart found on rural Island of Madagascar”
They say „Amelia Airhart“ but yes youre right
Most likely this was supposed to be a reference to Earhart, but they did not put much thought into it afterwards and messed it up a bit

I have a feeling that the writers intended to make this actually Earhart's aircraft, especially with making an effort to get a magazine from the time period.

My theory is it's a fictional plane with a fictional crew
Yeah especially considering how Amelias plain was a competitive plane meanwhile this plane is obviously not a competitive plane it's a commercial airliner that does tours of Madagascar
It definitely is a fictional plane and a fictional crew and its a fictional movie
but I am sure this is an intentional reference, especially since in the first movie we only see the 2 bodies of the pilots, as well as the plane, and also in the first movie there is a newspaper saying „Amelia Airhart found“
This 100% has to be a reference to Earhart that they just did not put very much research into and messed up a bunch of details like the engines having 3 blades each
All the other contradictions like the magazine and such were added in later movies and shows
@@BlackBlade2938Yes.
Thats so boring tho
That’s just crazy enough to be plausible.
The first movie also has a newspaper in it that says „Amelia Airhart found“
The plane is a pretty good match to the real one and they as I said name the skeleton Amelia
Theres some huge contradictions but it definitely is an intentional reference to Earhart that they just did not put much thought into afterwards.
So uh... Here's my take:
It's a tour flight to Madagascar.
I think it is definitely a reference to Earhart even if it isn't her
And I have to admit now I am mad that I didn't come up with the beheading thing myself XD
Everyone knows that Amelia Earhart was wearing a hotdog suit, when her plane crashed.
Somewhere in Siberia.

1:07 the ring of the top of the aircraft is a radio antenna for the radio set that would've been in the plane

I always wondered what actual Madagacarans thought of these films? Especially the plot element that no humans live there.
I actually want to make a video about that soon
The movie is sort of a caricature of itself. It tries to make fun of the New Yorkers (the Zoo animals) being unable to survive in the wild because of their easy life in America, but the movie itself also has the same narrow US-American world view by not even acknowledging that humans live on Madagascar
The correct term is malagasys
@Thatguyfromhowell Malagascar doesn't quite sound as good
1:12 The hoop is an ancient way of homing onto a radio signal, it makes a noise when you plane is not pointed at the signal then stops when you are pointed in the correct direction, my flight instructor called it the Hoop Of Silence.
@@u.n.reviews7359 Thanks for the info! I already got a few comments about this being used for the radio signal but nobody explained it as well and as detailed as you did!

This would also explain why there were no humans on Madagascar since no one would dare to fly to it anymore after the most famous flight duo of the time died.
i really like this alternate history theory, you have my upvote.
Yes thats also possible
I still think that it definitely is not supposed to be one of those
I feel like it very clearly was a reference to Amelia Earhart and her plane, theres just a lot pointing towards that, but they just didnt put much thought into it afterwards
Theres also a newspaper in the first movie saying that „Amelia Airhart“‘s plane was found so I think it definitely is an intentional reference
But yeah as I said in the video the plane doesnt fully match, and other details later on also contradict it
Chronologically it's most prob DC2
The plane looks like a Lockheed L-10 Electra to me.
Amazing video !! Good quality, good script about a subject no one thought they cared about, peak youtube video.
Thanks!
this was very obviously a tourist plane that crashed.
Tho it could also be explained that a group of scavengers got to them first and what 4 remained simply decomposed before the scavengers got to them
It is more likely, but based on all the evidence I show in the video I am still sure that the writers meant to make this a reference to Amelia Earhart, even though they did not put much thought into it after the first movie
If one completely disregards the writers' intentions, on its own your theory is definitely more likely
Thanks for the comment!
I figure that the others parachuted out leaving just those unwilling to leave their seats and the remaining pilot
so, i mean not to change your train of thought, but in the movie the news says that amelia "airheart" has beed found in madagascar, so i believe it is her, but that is me
@CabDriverDayZ ok at which point of which movie has this been stated or hinted at ?
@@themidnightbanshee5927 First movie, on the newspaper the Penguins are reading when the police catches the animals at Grand Central Station.
It‘s not just you, that is also what I suggest later in the video.
10:35
Absolutely wild when RUclips recommends a channel exclusively about Madagascar.
Another possible model for the plane is the Douglas DC-3, sure the tail isn't the same and it had more seats than the movie one, but it still looks almost identical, and was a popular commercial aircraft in the 30s
that aircraft is a DC-2, simmular to DC-3 but the boddy is sqare shaped.
That is also possible, but since the other evidence clearly shows that this is (or at least at some point was) supposed to be a reference to Amelia Earhart I think the Lockheed Electra or Super Electra are more likely
It is actually also plausible that they maybe referenced the Douglas DC-3 in the design on accident, because they probably wanted to make it a Lockeed Electra but put some parts of the Super Electra into the design

Never knew i needed this much in depth madagascar lore

Talking with Lockheed for the sake of a kids movie isn't high on priorities, I'd imagine :P
Although it's nice to finally see a video of the plane being talked about in depth and the theories surrounding it, it's been too long since I've seen the movies XD
Good video!
Yeah that’s exactly what I am thinking
I‘m sure thats it was supposed to be a reference to Amelia Earhart and her Electra but they did not put much thought into it afterwards because nobody will care anyway
The hoop thing ontop of the plane is a loop antenna it was mainly used for the Automatic Direction Finder
The "ring" is a radio antenna.

I‘m still very sure it is a reference and also that it was at some point supposed to be Earhart‘s plane
If you only look at the first movie, which is the first time we ever see this plane and these bodies, all that we see is the plane itself which I still think matches very well, and the 2 pilots. The magazine and other bodies etc arent visible
Also in the first movie there is a newspaper in an earlier scene saying „Amelia Airhart found“
all this to me seems like they wanted to reference Earhart but put very little research into it and made a few errors
And then later in Merry Madagascar, which plays right after Madagascar, they name the pilot Amelia
And then of course the other details added later on don’t quite work anymore either
Youre right that it doesnt work together very well, but it definitely is an intentional reference to Earhart that they just didnt put much thought into afterwards
It didn't necessarily have to fly all the way from France, but from any French colonies. Probably from Africa.
The round ring on the top of the plane is a radiogoniometer, ti's a tool to meshure the direction of the incoming or recived radiowawes
The ring is a type of early radio antenna
I find it interesting how in the first and second movie we see human skeletons and in the third movie we see stuffed animals instead
it was probably a coincidence but it's an interesting "theme"
I distinctly remember in the first movie a skeleton in a pilots outfit with a parachute hanging in the tree. Mostly because the scene where it is shown jump scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
Great video

This is technically a non-sequitor, but there are a bunch of vultures in two different levels in Madagascar, the game, (on PC and bigger consoles), and Madagascar buzzards are a real thing.

@I’m just saying that as a realistic explanation as to how the skeletons are so meatless and high up, besides outside of an artistic style choice.
@@DanialTarki Oh yeah that makes sense! I would not consider this in a theory because the games are not part of the canon, but as you said Madagascar buzzards are real so at least we can speculate that this could actually be the case

Essentially, that conjugation of the verb is the default when talking to someone you dont know well.
The ring is obviously so that it can easily be made miniature and turned into a keychain
The ring on the plane is for communication, it was also on other planes of the time like Amelia Earhart’s plane and ww2 aircraft

It is also possible but not likely the pineapple shirt person somehow arrived at another time, a shipwreck perhaps, and lived there until they died.
thanks for the reminder who they are
I think there ring would have a cable run through it that controlled the rear rudder things that i forgot the name of, pretty much so they can turn left or right. Or it was an antenna, ive seen it as both
hello plane fan! im another plane fan right here to answer your cable question i think its a antenna on the plane for radio frequencies or perhaps a way to attach the plane controls? or it could be used for structural support
Thanks! In that case I think its the radio antenna, thanks for the answer :)
hate to be that guy, it a plane based on the dc 1. that ring is a direction finding loop antenna . a bit of history that might help it operated it for a few months before selling it in France in October 1938. It was then sold to Líneas Aéreas Postales Españolas (L.A.P.E.) in Spain in November 1938 . good luck!
The ring is an old-school radio direction finder.
This is something I’d watch at 2 am……. I am currently watching it at 2 am
the dapper skeleton is Zepheniah Mann from team fort defense 2
my theory is it could be an Alternate Universe where Earhart survived and this could have been a 2nd attempt at a world flight with a Earhart, and Fred being in the Cockpit during the crash (Fred jumped out hence the parachute skeleton), with the Mechanic (Headless skeleton) and a person to record (Guy in 1st Class). This time they took a longer route via Madagascar and while in a previous stop added the tour of Madagascar as a way of encouraging explorers to visit and explore Madagascar. But unfortunately they crashed.
If it weren't for the twin tail, I'd honestly mistake the plane for a DC-3.
I just noticed that the song that plays in the explanation of the third skeleton is from yokai watch
The plane coming from the 1930s checks out.
I dont fully agree with your headcanon but it is a very interesting approach
I think the true answer is that this was an intentional reference to Amelia Earhart, but it got a bit lost when they added the magazine and the other passengers etc. in later movies and shows.
Because of this we *have to* make our own headcanons to make it work. I dont think yours is any more or less likely than mine, but I appreciate that you shared your ideas :)
Thanks for the comment!
all of this lore just for julian to abadon amelia for a circus bear that can ride a motorcycle on walls
