This was so good. I added some chicken bouillon to add to the thickness of the broth. Thanks for a good recipe 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love chicken n noodles I make them alot I found amish style noodles at Sam's that's excellent but homemade is the best I use a knife to cut after rolled out but I also have an old time noodle cutter that was my mom's it works so fast cuts several at one time lol yummy love these amish serve them over mashed potatoes but I love them both ways my grandkids love them over mashed potatoes 🥰😁
I only ever had this at my paternal grandmother's when we visited her. I'm going to try this recipe to see if it brings back memories.
I hope you love it!
My mom used to make this and served it over mashed potatoes. We had mashed potatoes with almost everything!
That’s how my mother served this. We’re from Iowa, country cooking for sure. 😃
My mom was from Indiana. She did not add the veggies or cream. I make her comfort food often, and yes it must have mashed potatoes with it.
Love chicken and noodles. If you want a carb overload put it on top of mash pototoes with a dollop of sour cream on top. Out of this world!
It's comfort food. Good to make on cold days. It's snowing in Redmond, Oregon 11.1.22😊
Looks delish...I will for sure be making this very soon. I just Love your recipes Louise
Looks delicious! It's almost like a chicken pot pie/casserole type thing with noodles instead of a dough/crust. In fact, it would probably be delicious put into a pie crust and baked.
That soup looks perfect, I will be making that soon!
I can't wait to make this!
Thank you😋😋😋😋👍💯
Another option is to include some baby portabella mushrooms. And peas, as you said.
One key is to use thick noodles, like you did. Thin noodles (even the wide ones) re not the best option in this dish.
Look like chicken noodle soup and the “innards” of chicken pot pie had a baby. I would definitely add peas and maybe some mushrooms.
That's a good analogy!
I would add chopped spinach to it for some colour and added nutrients.
My thoughts exactly. I would add more carrots a celery too. I can’t wait to make this!
I look forward to making this recipe and will add a little poultry seasoning, sautéed mushrooms and frozen peas at the last minute so they don’t overcook..
Which is better the Ninja foodie or speedie?
Which Ninja Foodie are you using?
Looks like OL501
💖💖
Does this freeze well? there is just me and hubby and this is way too much for two old people. LOL
I made this dish today exactly as you did, my husband said it was good, I did not like it at all. I found it rather bland.
Could have been the chicken stock you used or something else that was different from what I used? Perhaps not enough salt? Flavor is really important to me and I don't like bland food, so I'm really curious what may have caused it to be lackluster for you. It should taste like a really good chicken noodle soup, but thicker with more noodles and less broth.
My liquid was way thicker than this I had to put 2 glasses of water in
I have a Instant Pot and being on saute, it did not heat up to the point of boiling, so I'm putting it on Soup/ Broth. We'll see how it turns out. Cross my fingers.
Chicken and noodles are a great favorite in southern Illinois. Most people here eat them over a big pile of mashed potatoes...double the carbs and double the comfort. 😊 Instead of garlic I add 5 whole cloves to 8 quarts of broth along with everything Louise used. The cloves give the broth a slight aromatic flavor. I learned that from Betty Crocker back in the 60's.
...and that would be why my grandmother made them like that for dinners! That's our common denominator! Thanks!! 😁
Yes!!! Thanks for bringing back memories!!
When my grandmother was alive, this was one of her 'go to' meals for the Wednesday night family dinners. She would make this and to stretch the noodle part because she was on a tight budget and wanted to feed everyone with 1 chicken, she would make whipped potatoes for the noodle mix to go over. Ya, it was a huge carb overload, but we were all filled for very little cost.
I made this on Sunday and it was so delicious. I made my own noodles using my pasta machine. Everything turned out wonderful. I had invited my brother & sister-in-law for late lunch and they loved it too! Thanks for the wonderful recipe.
I would love to hear about your new Foodie. I have the 8 qt one you used before. Is it harder to learn ? I feel like I just learned the old one. Lol although I do hate the extra lid Ty so much
Hi Louise.
If one comes up short on the stock, could a cup of white wine or apple juice, or however much is needed to make up the 6 cups, be used instead of water?
I have been making homemade chicken and noodles most of my life, just as my mom and grandma did. So good!!!
Could you add mushrooms?? If so, when to add them? This looks SO delicious!!
Love homemade chicken and noodles beef and noodles too. I was raised on them my Nan made the best. I now am the noodle maker of the family.
Made this wonderful dish tonight! My husband loved it.
Only thing my instant pot didn't cook the chicken in 15 minutes. Had to put it back in for more time. But we'll worth it. Thank you!
This recipe is delicious and easy! So comforting! I added 1 teaspoon of chipotle and two cans of green chilies. It gave this amazing recipe a different flair! Great job Louise !!!
That’s awesome!

Looks gorgeous Louise, though the quantity is enormous for my solo living, does it freeze well? Even half would be too much but I would really love to make the recipe. I have a 15in1 and sometimes the conversion of small recipes is not great? I love cooking but sadly solo living is a different ball game altogether trying to make tasty dishes, it would be great if you had time to give occasional recipes for one or two people and help us pensioners out that want to stay healthy and keep cooking.. Love your videos and website.
I make this every year December/January because I aways roast a chicken for the drippings to make dressing with for Thanksgiving. Then I pull and freeze the chicken meat and boil the bones and anything that isn't meat including the skin to make bone broth with and freeze that too until I'm ready to use it. Try adding a little sage and bay leaf to the broth. you won't regret it.
i love chicken noodles and noodle soup. the ninja foodi is the best thing I've ever bought. i never use the cooker now. xxx
I like your cooking personality style. 😀 BTW, the parsley does make it pop more.
Where can I buy the ladle you used to scoop out the veggies from the stock?
She is a consultant for, and uses a lot of, Pampered Chef so I’d guess Pampered Chef. I liked it and the knife she used
Sometime I make this and omit the noodles, make the gravy with some peas and carrots chopped tiny...and serve over hot, crisp waffles! Old fashioned chicken and waffles. I will try making my own noodles for this one though.... looks yummy!
I have always loved the flavor of homemade chick/noodle soup but NOT the liquid (splash) consistency. In fact - I made chick/noodle soup just last week. I am SOOOO looking forward to this option.
Thank you for this recipe. Just had it tonight with leftover turkey and it was phenomenal. True comfort food. Will try it again with a full chicken.
Yummy! Tomorrow night's dinner
I watched this and you are just so likable lol. Cool recipe! Wanna try
This might be the most wholesome channel on RUclips. Definitely the mama of RUclips!
It's an old school southern thang
Rosemary will take the flabir to the next level on any chicken, noodle or dumpling recipe or roast chicken. Try it and see!!!!
Personally, rosemary is a bit strong for me in chicken dishes, I prefer it in beef dishes.
I love chicken and noodles but mine never taste as good as my mother-in-law's did! I never had it until I moved to Central OH where my dh grew up. We eat it over mashed potatoes. Yes, that is a lot of carbs, but it's SO good! I will try this way for sure!
That looks soooooo good, a proper winter meal x
OMG This looks so good. Will definitely be making this. Thank you for sharing this Louise. Hugs Donna 😊😊😊
If you do make bone broth, please do a video of the process.
where did you get that cutting board??? I love it
Would be great in a bread bowl. Awesome.
Yummy, looks delicious!
Looks so yummy 😋
😋🙃
Darn. That sling you used is not in your affiliate link products.
I got mine off Amazon or the Ninja Foodi website (I don’t remember which) and I use it all the time
@the salted pepper that chicken stock looked so good and rich. Would it work if my chicken sat at an angle perhaps the but down? The one I currently have does not look wide enough. Hubby said Santa may bring me a Ninji, but I want to make this now 🙃.
As long as you can fit it in the pot and the pressure lid closes, you can position the chicken any way that works best.
@@TheSaltedPepper thanks for the reply. I am going to measure across my pot and take a ruler with me to the store. Yes, I am very serious as that stock looked so good I am thinking this would be so good in my dressing. Don't laugh at me if anyone on the east coast sees someone with a ruler in Safeway.
I've been wanting to make some of this 💖
I hope you love it!
Looks delicious 😋
Thank you!
