The crazy thing is is they get all their shit for free? It’s not like forever 21 where they actually buy it or a factory makes it Goodwill prices their stuff and it’s all donated for free. They should not have to charge so much. They are a for Profit company so I guess they’re just looking for profits and the crazy thing isagain it’s all donated so everything is 100% profitable minus of course operating expenses
I am not sure if we are in the same area but my thrift store is the same. I get so many quality things for a few dollars each. At Goodwill all I seem to find are pieces that are not in the greatest condition. I think part of the problem is their website. Anything that is good quality seems to go there. I was also wondering if the staff is keeping what they want.
I was mainly a goodwill bin shopper I was always afraid to pay up for items, until recently I decided it was too much work for one person to process list source ship etc. now I am sourcing different places for higher quality pieces also higher msrp so I can untimely list less and make more. I did the bins for almost 4 years off and on it’s just a high thrill. In all reality even when your cart is full lost items only resell for 15-20 once in while you get high ticket items but not regularly and the length of time your there also decreases your profits.
I can see why you're ditching Goodwill! $25 shoes? Forget it! Luckily, I am able to still get shoes at my Goodwill for around $9. Your new business strategy sounds really smart! My nearest bins is about an hour away and most times, its not worth the time and gas. Good Luck!
So many shoes on the shelves…because like goodwill what are y’all thinking with the pricing 🥴 they will all end up at the bins, you can just snag them there!
Came here to say holy heck - the nerve of goodwill pricing used danskos for $25. 😂 My goodwill has a pair of Docs in the glass case priced at $75 so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
Immersion Research is a highly sought after whitewater gear brand! I only know that because I’ve been a whitewater guide for years and I have an IR dry suit for cold weather rafting that cost almost a grand 😅. We look for it pre-owned all the time because of the price! The piece you found looked to me like a dry top. Probably not worth as much as the full suit. But if you ever find it be sure to use tags like rafting, kayaking, canoeing, whitewater, dry gear !! P.S. I love your channel
@Ofcourseitsthrifted I always have to remember every reseller is different. I personally would never even pick up Toad & Co from the bins, but I pick up luxury as long as it's a good price and good condition.
I started to go to mom and pop, Salvation Army or community thrift stores. I only go to Goodwill on discount days or for me personally. The prices are wild. Plus they send higher end stuff to their online site.
I just found gjunden sowden for the first time. I had no idea what it was but I got it because it said made in greece. When I came home and looked it up I was pleasantly surprised to have found it in the bins!
I am getting ready to write-off Goodwill also. Where I live there’s two main thrift store chains, Goodwill and Savers, I used to source from Savers mainly, but have not in years because they jacked up their prices. Now- Goodwill has raised their prices so much. I find myself going to other thrift stores instead. All thrift places are very pricey though, I am getting very frustrated.
I dont buy shoes, i did sold them and i dont ever want to sell them unless i get them new at low price. I have thrifted in about a month, going tomorrow finally limit $50 and see what happens.
Last time I went to a goodwill i saw an actual homeless person trying to buy a couple of shirts and they were struggling. I just don't understand if they are for the people who can't afford clothes then how is raising prices helping their supposed main market as many say is the homeless. Am I missing something?
The goodwill in store prices are crazy! It's disrespectful to the time people have to set aside to go to their store and look through everything. I used to go all the time and now I can't afford to make as many trips - time is money!
My shopping experience in NY at goodwill is way closer to yours. Prices are crazy and I usually leave with less than 10 pieces and I comp every single thing. I see some RUclipsrs leaving with heaping carts and brands that I would pay 24.99 for and they’re paying 7$ and I’m dumbfounded at the differences.
I'm a Row customer and that was real. They would've sold really well on ebay as customers tend to shop there or Vestaire/TRR--not Poshmark because Poshmark has lousy authentication. I've never had a Row piece sell for under $100. Said with love, but if you're going to have a higher ASP model, I would recommend being a bit more focused on what kinds of items/brands (and being disciplined to do the research) as well as having a process for authenticating. For example, The Row has gone through a few different labels and materials tags and they have popular styles return seasonally, so if you're comparing it to one other tag online, that's not really going to work. I buy a lot of luxury online and I don't buy from resellers who don't focus on luxury because 9/10 they're using the internet to authenticate and in the world of superfakes that's not going to fly.
I hear you! After rechecking comps, I'm still happy with my decision to leave it behind since this particular style (mid rise dark wash skinny jeans) doesn't seem to perform well. However, I do agree that looking at other listings to gauge authenticity isn't always ideal for longstanding brands such as The Row. But since I was really pressed for time, it was a quick measure. If comps looked decent, I would have taken it home and done more to ensure authenticity.
Good question! I typically mean either a category of clothing with a higher retail value such as coat, maxi dress, etc or a style of clothing that has unique design features. For example, I would consider a 100% wool jumpsuit, an embroidered tunic top or a leather jacket as substantial pieces whereas a t-shirt dress, tank top or pair of leggings would not be. I hope that helps!
Goodwill is gonna price themselves out of business! Those prices are not realistic 😢😮
Mine did and they closed.
No you have to know how to play the game. Los Angeles has good sales and coupons. Last time I got 14 items for 50$.

I gave up Goodwill a few months ago….they pull all the name brands at the Goodwill’s around me. I call our Goodwill’s the Walmarts of thrift stores!
I am done with Goodwill. A thrift store near me has 50% everything the first Saturday of the month. I get a huge haul.
I am not sure if we are in the same area but my thrift store is the same. I get so many quality things for a few dollars each.

I cannot believe how expensive your goodwill is. Wow!

Goodwill's in my area check comps on a lot of pieces before pricing. I can actually get better brands from Clothes Mentor and at a lower cost.
Always great content! Did you realize when you flashed your phone screen that we could see Billy Lou?? 🥹 She’s adorable!!

My Goodwills are the same in the Phoenix area. I haven’t gone in a month. Going to go to the outlet exclusively now.
Don’t some of the good wills in your area have 1/2 price at least once a month?
@ They do have 1/2 price tags every week but it still is to much to pay.
They also pull designer brands so most brands they price up are just mediocre
Yes, thank you so much. I really enjoy your videos!

That goodwill needs a good audit with those prices.
I sold those exact Row pants last year and they sold for $85!
Those Row pants were real. 😢
I know, I’m confused why she didn’t get them? Would’ve definitely fetched $100 at least

Ive REFUSED to shop at goodwill the last 2 years , they are disgustingly greedy and overpriced.
I just found gjunden sowden for the first time. I had no idea what it was but I got it because it said made in greece. When I came home and looked it up I was pleasantly surprised to have found it in the bins!
I live in Battle Ground, WA and some of the prices out here are ridiculous!!

I miss your what sold videos!
Used pair of Nikes 24.99 at my gw. Prices are insane.
I dont buy shoes, i did sold them and i dont ever want to sell them unless i get them new at low price. I have thrifted in about a month, going tomorrow finally limit $50 and see what happens.
They even pull good things our of the bins and sell on the goodwill site nowadays. its all hit and miss

It’s pure greed! They get this stuff for free so I don’t understand either.

Yowser! Those prices are crazy. I’m about to visit Portland so I won’t waste my time there.
Have you considered taking your old items that haven’t sold on Poshmark or eBay that have been listed for over 2 years and taking them to crossroad ?
Even Crossroads are picky now days. I brought 40+ items to them and they took 6 of them and I have a good quality and style stuff

Your goodwills are so high I see why your doing what your doing. I also shop at the bins and flip at BST stores for better items..
❤❤❤❤❤
your baby is sooo cute
Hi, what state do you live in?
Oregon!
What is meant by “ a substantial piece”?
Good question! I typically mean either a category of clothing with a higher retail value such as coat, maxi dress, etc or a style of clothing that has unique design features. For example, I would consider a 100% wool jumpsuit, an embroidered tunic top or a leather jacket as substantial pieces whereas a t-shirt dress, tank top or pair of leggings would not be. Thats a Swedish brand
