Just ordered one for tinkering. I want to integrate it into Home Assistant to control the room temperature, dimm the lights, open/close the blinds - all in one device.
This would be so cool! Please send me a link if you want to share it. Thanks
Very interesting display! It definitely has some nice features all in one unit. If I think of something useful for it, I'll let you know!!! Thanks for the review and my best to your lovely wife and fuzzy family members!!!
Thanks Adam, it sure has a nice appearance and I am looking forward to using it, just not sure where and how 🙂All my best to you and your family as well. Have a great week.
Would be great to integrate into Linuxcnc - Feedrate, Jog Speed, Spindle Override, Rapid Override, etc. Even an MPG with coordinate readout. Limitless.
That is actually a good idea, thanks.
Thanks!
Thanks Dave, hope you are doing fine 🙂
It can be good industrial display if you can apply IP or RS485 modbus (or other bus system) communication.
Thank you Kenan for your idea, it's been sitting on my desk to help me to come up with a use for it 🙂
I was wondering if I could pay you to design a custom pcb, it’s fairly simple and I could provide measurements and details. I basically need a pcb that has some spots to mount smd LED’s, and pads for membrane buttons on the face, and I need the traces for each of the LED’s and buttons to go solder pads where I can solder wire on the back side of the board.
Sure can do, please get ion touch with me over email, you can find it in my about page or leave yours here and I'll get in touch, thanks.
I’m looking for something like this for my smart car
I checked and it would fit into the clock of my car perfectly, can't have enough CAN BUS gauges 😂 but would like to get a used panel so I won't cut out, actually just make the existing hole bigger and keep my original panel. Btw, love your "Heart of Toronto" video 🙂
@@iHayri1 haha thanks! Would I able to get can bus info on this display?
@@SkyPixelCanada I will look into it, it should be easy to connect a CAN transceiver chip to it and start coding 🙂
@@iHayri1 car and motorcycle guys would love this thing
Hello, I would like you to be able to power this rotary knob through a battery and connect it directly to a PC through Bluetooth and control some functions wirelessly.
Well you can power it through it's USB port as it does not have a Battery input nor a charging circuit for a lipo battery and use the BLE to connect to your PC and use it as input device.
how would it mount on a dashboard? It can't be flush because of the push button action.
That's actually a bit tricky. You need a 50 mm hole but it has to be 12 mm from the front and the "front" hole needs to be a little bigger than 50 mm so it can freely turn. Plus you still end up with the bezel "sticking" out which is given when we talk about knobs anyway. I would have designed it a bit different 🙂
Looking around at these, I cant find a drawing. How about a video with a measuring tape or calipers show the physical dimensions? Have you found a purpose for your part yet?@@iHayri1
what is the large diameter? of the knob part? 80mm?@@iHayri1
@@332ARA The large diameter is about 79mm, the second diameter which needs to be able to turn is 50.8mm and 12mm deep and the diameter that needs to be mounted is 50.2mm and 13mm deep. There is a gap of 2.5mm between the mount and rotate part. The aluminum bezel is 11.8mm. Overall thickness is 37.4mm. The 2.5mm gap is actually the push button part. The white connectors are almost flush but the type C connector sticks out about 3mm. Hope this helps. Might do a measurement video when I get a chance.
@@332ARA I have ordered a CAN Transceiver chip and will probably make another CAN BUS gauge. Other than that I thought about implementing it into my desk but having the screen facing straight up seem not very ergonomic. For desk use it should have a angled case, again, might design one 🙂
