I think Chris is my spirit animal. He's so low energy, but I can tell he's actually having fun. It give me hope that I will find someone who enjoys being around my level of chill. Great video!
The saltine cracker candy has been a huge Christmas tradition for my family since before I was born, we call it soda cracker candy but I’ve also heard it called Christmas Crack. It’s even better with chocolate AND butterscotch chips, or chocolate and peanut butter chips. My favorite is the butterscotch & chocolate chips though, it just adds even more to an already really good, easy treat. But we use probably twice as much of the toffee stuff, coating every cracker, top and bottom.
Rachel, I feel like an offset spatula would make your chocolate spreading dreams come true. The utter perfection it can provide for smoothing out things that are poured is incredible. I highly recommend.
I add coconut oil when I make dipping chocolate or candy melts. I makes them easier to dip and gives it a softer bite. I just made pretzels dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled them with crushed peppermint. I didn't add very much coconut oil to the first ones. The coating came out too thick and it was hard to bite through. The second batch was much easier to dip and the coating was much easier to bite through. Merry Christmas Rachel, Christopher and your adorable little ones. Enjoy your vacation!
If you find some people can find the coconut flavour and don't like it you can use cocoa butter chips. They are easy to find at any good baking ingredient store or bulk store (at least where I live). It's what I used when I worked in a bakery & had to dip with white chocolate (my nemesis to this day hahaha)
Every year since I was little my mom used to make chocolate covered matzo every year for Passover. The exact same as the saltine recipe, but using matzo instead. So yummy 😊
Tip for the christmas cracker toffee: I prefer using club crackers rather than saltines, because they add a buttery flavor and i think they're a nicer texture, and also i would highly recommend adding some salt to the toffee mix. It makes them soooo good. I have them every year and can't stop eating them haha
I commented on the last video about the sprinkles and luster dust, and now im back with a couple tips. First, use a dry paintbrush to lightly dust the luster dust into the molds; better coverage, less waste, and less mess. As for the chocolate/candy melt situation, you can loosen them with oil so they dont get too hard and don't set too fast. In general, chocolate is always the best bet but candy melts are fine for thin coatings and decoration (however, some people can taste the difference and tend not to like the melts.) Last tip is to use a piping bag instead of a spoon to put the chocolate/melt into the molds, you can better control where it goes and how thick, do them one at a time (piping and adding cake before moving on), and give a light tap on the counter to avoid air bubbles messing up your finish. All that said, I LOVE watching you and Chris encounter problems and figure out fixes. Thats one of those skills that shows the difference between basic home cooks and someone who could do it as a job if they wanted. Enjoy your vacation guys!!!
Thank you for the tips I am a baker but I'm way better at baking then decorating and this will help me in the future to make things look as good as they taste ❤
Half pint of cream, tin of condensed milk and the juice of 3-4 lemons makes the most delicious dessert. Served in a pastry case or digestive biscuit base...stunning.
I love CHRISTMAS crack. I usually make three different trays 1. dark chocolate with crushed Reese’s on top. 2. Milk chocolate with walnuts or pecans. & 3. White chocolate with candy cane. ❤️❤️ merry Christmas 🎄 see you next year.
I am nowhere near of having a sweet tooth, but I've been watching your videos about baking and various sweets purely out of adoration upon your cheerful, bubbly and chaotic-good personality:) thank you for you:3
Yay, stuff to watch while wrapping presents. Also one of the best ways to eat cake with candy melts is cake pops. My personal favorite is vanilla cake and coated in salted caramel candy melt. It's nice and crunchy then the inside is soft plus the salty and sweet is so good.
Possible tip: For the cakes, try chocolate ganache and then stick them in the freezer for a while (30 min maybe). Then take them out of the mold (frozen) and let them thaw a little before eating. Ganache usually holds its shape and is softer than just melted chocolate 😊
Enjoy your time off! I think taking time off should be a normal thing for content creators. I saw way too many of my favorites have burn out this year, and I think the way you've approached taking this time off is great 👏. See you in 2022! 🎉
Christmas Crack is made slightly different, and when it's done right it tastes like Almond Roca. Your toffee looked kind of dark and grainy, and when it comes out of the oven you don't have to wait to put the chips on. You want it in while it's hot, and it's roughly 2 cups of chips (or a smaller 16 oz bag from the grocery store, not the bulk bag size). You want the chocolate and "toffee" to meld together while it's warm. If the toffee cools too much, the chocolate won't melt right. It's so good when made right, and is a year round favorite at our house. We make the butter/sugar mixture, we don't add toffee pieces, because they dont always melt down evenly.
Jessica Braun's 3 ingredient recipes are awesome. Since they showed on a past Vlogmas, we do them all the time...and they freeze well. Her Faux Thin Mints are Ritz crackers dipped into melted chocolate with peppermint extract (to taste). Let harden on wax paper...done. The Faux Tagalongs are creamy peanut butter spread on Ritz crackers, dipped into melted chocolate. Let sit on wax paper. That one won't work for you allergy-wise, but for peanut butter eaters, they're delicious. It doesn't get easier, kids can do them, it keeps kids busy for a bit, and and adults like to eat them. Good deal.
Cracker Toffee is the best! I have been making it for years. It cracked me up when you brought out that gigantic bag of Chocolate chips! Have a great vacation. I recently found your channel and can't get enough of it!
Hard agree. Fondant is so good for the eyes but SO BAD for the mouth. UGH. So if I'm gonna eat some cake you better keep that fondant far away from it.
pro tip: if you want to gently sprinkle glitter on something, dip a paintbrush in it and tap the handle against a finger or something just above what you want sprinkled. this also works with liquids.
Hi! I'm from Argentina, love your videos, you have a wonderful positive energy that is contagious and it makes me happy! Best to all the family (you, Connor, Julia, Luke and Chris)...
1 can switch condensed milk, 11oz of white chocolate chips, 27 oreos crushed. Put condensed milk in with the chocolate chips, melt down till cohesive and delicious, add crushed oreos, mix. Add to lined pan/cookie sheet with taller edges. Smooth out and chill for a few hours. No fail fudge....
I feel like there is a new trend on RUclips this season because you are the third youtuber that I follow that is taking 2 weeks off for Christmas! Enjoy 💫💫

Watching you try new recipes makes me feel like I can too!! Thank you for your kindness, joy, and inspiration this year! Merry Christmas and enjoy your break!❤🎄
The Christmas crack kinda reminds me of these cookies my mom makes for Christmas time. It’s just ritz crackers dipped in mint chocolate candies with sprinkles. They are SO easy and taste like thin mints 😋
If you want to do that technique with frosting you could probably fill the mold with buttercream and the cupcake and then freeze. if it's taken from the mold while frozen the buttercream will hold shape as it warms up
I keep looking at you thinking something looks wrong then it dawns on me.... your wearing a denim!🤣 I'm so use to seeing the sweatpants! Love the look tho that top looks amazing! Have a awesome holiday!
I was telling my husband I bet it would be super good with pretzels instead of crackers. Although where I am in Georgia there is a pretzel shortage lol idk why but there are none anywhere
@@krisb5695 boo! That sucks. I’ve heard there’s been shortages happening. I hope you find your pretzels and get to try it. It’s amazing! My boyfriend, who does not like sweets, loves it!
Very nice ideas, especially the cake one. I wonder if freezing the "3 Musketeers" mixture would be easier if you immediately poured it into silicone molds. Cutting it seemed like a step I wouldn't want. :) Happy and healthy holidays and a big heartfelt thank you for making 2021 much lighter end easier! ❤❤❤
I absolutely love watching the baking stuff ❤ me and my niece get together and watch and follow the recipes that you do on here. Sometimes they come out amazing.... Other times not so much 😂 one of my favorite youtubers! ❤❤
I learned to make the cracker candy differently, perhaps easier. Spread butter on the saltines and then top with sugar. That goes in the oven. When it comes out top with plenty of chocolate chips. It makes its own toffee like magic.
Nigella Lawson years ago made an instant chocolate mousse by melting marshmallows then added chocolate chips to melt in and mix them up. It only needs to cool in the fridge and it looked so fluffy and smooth.
My favorite pie growing up was just Hershey bars with Almonds melted & mixed with Cool Whip, then poured into an already baked pie shell. Stick it in the fridge for a few hours for it all to solidify & BOOM! Delicious chocolate pie. I will say that it, too was sticky & not fully solidified, but still super tasty.
For the cracker candy put the toffee and crackers in the oven until it starts to bubble and starts looking frothy and caramelized. Pull it out put the chocolate chips on and place it back in the oven for like 30-45 seconds or until they look shiny. Then spread. Place it in the freezer for an HR. It will take less time and will be so much easier. ❤️😊
The cakes with the chocolate/candy melts topping is brilliant! Have to try it. For the thick chocolate shells - try dilute it with a little bit of vegetable oil (I think one tea spoon oil per 100 gram chocolate). And the toffee crackers one - already tried it with matzah 🤣 need to try this version as well
Oooo you could do the snowflakes with frosting if you freeze it for a bit to make the frosting come out of the mould and then let it thaw before eating.
You can do the molds with frosting, just put a bunch of it in, do the same thing you did with the chocolate but now you freeze it rock solid and peel it out while still frozen

The cakes! Definitely the cakes! I love baking easy recipes. I made truffles with a boxed lemon edible cookie dough and a bag of dark chocolate. People went nuts!
Quick tip. Use a squeeze bottle to melt and pour the melted candy and chocolate. Can buy them on Amazon or a Wilton distributor. You can get much more control in distribution and can also re heat at 30 second intervals to keep it pourable.

When I make Madelines those are petite cakes and are in hard molds with a shell pattern. I never have trouble seeing the pattern because one the batter is thinner and 2 because you have to let them sit before baking. I think if you used a thinner cake batter and let it sit until it settled in the molds you'd get a better result because I've seen other people use those molds and get beautiful results.
when cutting the three musketeers thing it could help to put cornstarch or maybe even powder sugar on the knife so it doesn't stick too much and destroy the squares
I would cut the cakes in half and put icing between them. And then when putting the candy melts in the moulds I would do a thinner layer & use it more as decoration.
I think if you poured your faux-3-muskateers nougaty stuff into a mold that shapes them into bars, dipping after would maybe go smoother. These look fun, all of them, even so! Thank you! 💜🎅🏼⛄ Happy Holidays!
Hope you and your beautiful family have an amazing Christmas 🎄 thanks for keeping us entertained throughout 2021, can’t wait too see you in the new year. All the best ❤️
I feel like the cake hack would be really good with a smear of frosting on the cake. I plan to try a recipe over the holiday where you make a Graham crust(Graham cracker and butter, pour with chocolate and butterscotch chips, and drizzle with sweetened condensed milk, then bake. It's supposed to be similar to the cracker recipe.
