Many landscape photographers struggle with their photography, whether it is technical, or compositional. In this video I look at ways we can improve the way we see to make the landscape a place much more full of opportunities than less. Regardless of the weather, cloud cover, time of day, or conditions.

Wowzers, I got to be your first like today. You always embed some deep question within your narrative. To me, the one for this week is whether photography is a metaphor for life or is life a metaphor for photography? The challenges, the stumbles, the elation and yes, the failure. Hopefully, you'll share some of your Asturian adventure. Perhaps convey some insight into what a Allister guided photo-adventure looks like. Best, Bill

Thanks so much for the great feedback, really appreciate that. The answer to your question is both, they hold mirrors up to each other, if we allow it.

Always love your videos. You have a way to speak that is very deliberate and well thought out. Like, what your saying is exactly what you're thinking. And more importantly, feeling. Thanks for all that you do.

You naturally need to be aware of the 5 key attributes but these really can only come into play if you have a deep relationship with the subject in the first place. Wandering around finding that captivating moment is key to relaxing and enjoyable photography…but I don’t need to tell you that! Have a great time in Spain with Adam 😀

Alister - you talk eloquently about the five attributes that contribute to creating good landscape images, and of course their impact is incontrovertible. However, in this video you did not mention the importance of the subject of the proposed image and it's relationship with those five attributes. It seems to me there is a danger in focusing exclusively on these attributes and not devoting enough attention to how they impact on the intended subject - that is, why you are taking that photo. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this issue.

Brilliant presentation Alister. Unfortunately my finances are limited and membership is not a viable option for me but I always attribute my joy in being in the landscape with my camera to your tuition via this RUclips channel. I never now go out with any expectations other than that I will have a good time and probably achieve at least one image that will make me happy. You have taught me to create images simply by keeping my eyes wide open and not just focused on the drama of the epic. Thanks again for educating me. Best wishes, Derrick.

90% of the “landscape photography” RUclipsrs need to subscribe to your channel in my opinion. It seems they all do, say and shoot exactly the same thing with the same video format too. So boring to watch. Great channel. Thank you
