The original BF prototype, Mislay, was used for testing throughout FNF development. Not having the immunity to deaths, every revival ruined him both physically and mentally. After being replaced by the Boyfriend we have now, he was thrown away and forgotten. But now, you found him! and you, being the big stupid asked a dead corpse to rap against you lollll!! - cheesewithcake
Corrupted FLA of BF/FLAnimal lore:
FLAnimal originates from a corrupted boyfriend FLA,
which occurred during the early development stages of Friday Night Funkin'. The original FLA file became corrupted, leading the artist to move on to a different FLA project while deleting the corrupted one.
FLAnimal himself survived but is inherently flawed. His body parts do not properly connect, causing continuous discomfort and pain. His girlfriend, SYS.ERR, is deceased. However, she appears to move as if controlled by puppet strings, manipulated by the animation of a sprite. When FLAnimal sings in the game, his intention is not driven by animosity towards BF but rather serves as a form of solace.
FLAnimal knows his time is limited and desires only one song, which BF grants him due to a deep connection. At the end of the song, FLAnimal passes away. Despite his troubled existence, FLAnimal is not malicious; he simply seeks to fulfill his role as "Boyfriend.”
