I know several nurses from growing up with parents working in healthcare and attempting it myself, in another life. If there's one thing I know, it's that when you put someone from that career field in super stressful positions, they will absolutely shine. If you are able to break through that "calm, assess, focus, do" thing that happens in their brain when stressful situations break out, you might be a unicorn! Later, they might say, "When [blank] happened, I was like, "Holy crap, I've never seen this before." However, that's AFTER everything has returned to normal. If I add that to the military vets that I've had the pleasure of meeting, you get someone who doesn't give a crap about sensationalism or "somebody on the internet doesn't like me, woe is me." Mrs. Belle (Ms? Mrs? I mean, she is married, and southern people pronounce it pretty much the same either way, even if the rest of ya'll don't, lol.) is absolutely qualified to be the person in front of the camera as long as she chooses. I was married to a workaholic. He developed a lot of health issues, too. He wouldn't step away. I'm supportive of Beau stepping away and not making a commitment to return. Workaholic detox is like any other detox: A long process. We have get comfortable with the change because these channels are worth it.
Would you say it is possible to work one day a week, without it creeping up and up over time? Or is the only thing you can do, going cold turkey and stopping _all_ temptation?
@@MrNicoJac I've studied this a bit. Not an expert, but it's like alcoholism. You have to go cold turkey and then take it one day at a time. Look at the A.A. handbook and modify for whatever "ism" that a person is addicted to. It sucks for those who received benefits from the person's addiction. Support is everything. Kindness matters.
@@MrNicoJac In my case cold turkey is what it would take to truly stop the creeping part, but you can learn to resist it most of the time. I can't really stop since I'm a freelance translator and when I'm not translating or editing I'm competing for projects. Thus the dog. She keeps me from doing 36-hour days, and as a living being she shifts my responsibility away from what in fact is just all the same in the end. Plus she actually likes me so that's a plus :)
Recently a video he made that was so emotional to me, talking about how parents and children have their relationships disrupted by President Trump wanting to take away birth control and pushing pregnancy on people. Now open my eyes to the stress es that already exist in between parents and children because some parents push their their pro-baby agenda so hard, and now the government's budding in, it's just terrible, that one completely broke my heart, and I can only say that Bo pointed out to me in a way no one else has, and I'm not surprised in any way that he needs a long recovery from staring reality in the face, a new direction someday.

If you (general you, not you specifically) ever remember those moments when he'd randomly bring her up on the channel, then you know getting together with her was one of his proudest accomplishments. His face lit up and his voice even relaxed a little every single time she came up. That says more than I'd ever need to know to watch her just like I did him. I know it seemed sudden, and I know some people just might not handle change all that well, but there's a reason why they've been by each other's side all these years. I can't see any of the things that first drew me here changing all that much, so there's no reason for me to not follow along.
I'm so sorry about Beau needing to step back. I'm so thankful you are stepping in. Beau carried us through a lot of stuff, and going "cold turkey" without that wisdom, during the next few critical months would have been tough. My absolute best friend, is someone who I knew as 'friend of a friend.' We ran into each other by chance, sat down to lunch together and became friends very quickly 45+ years ago. I feel like I could sit down with my morning beverage and comfortably chat with, & get to know Belle.

I've been missing Beau the last few days - can't lie. But I watch this channel for the context, explanations, etc. Ms. Beau (or Belle - I like Belle) also has a great demeor that captures the level-headed political discussion that I think of with this channel. When I recommend the channel I say it's like a 5 min civics class. I really appreciate the work you do!

I have seen other channels that change their face and it doesnt work. This is working brilliantly, Belle. You have stepped up and kept the same energy (level-headed, informative and grounded). I ain't going anywhere. Beau kept me sane these past five years and I'm glad to have a new Internet Mom now.
Beau has given so much and it’s profoundly moving that his family has stepped in to give him the specific support he needs now. While I will certainly miss him, his wellbeing is much more important-the kind of priority he has long advocated.
Having a woman as the face and voice of the channel is pretty awesome. In my industry there was an entire union fight about the right to sit down. I am pro seated videos!
Perhaps, but don't forget that part of the "promise" of this channel is that the image on the thumbnail was a big redneck-looking dude - Beau intentionally cultivated that image as it gets people who might otherwise not be receptive to his message to at least take a look. It feels to me like Ms. Belle is still in the process of ironing out her nerves and will probably be just as good at presenting as Beau was within a month or so. I don't really have any concerns about the content changing significantly. Maybe some of the tech and space news will shift to someone else as I'm sure Ms. Belle has different "nerd" interests, but the political stuff I expect will be fairly consistent. But.... she's never going to have the big orange beard. That alone is unfortunately likely to reduce the channel's reach to at least one segment of the people who most need to be reached. Then again Beau's also been trending toward being a lot less subtle in his messaging (that is, the videos are more obviously left-leaning earlier in the playtime. Go back and watch some of the videos from 2-3 years ago and there's a marked difference in tone, at least in a lot of them). Whether that's just due to overwork and lack of time as he moved from 3 to 4 videos a day or if something else shifted, I can't say, but it's definitely something worth noting. When was the last time you saw the patch upside-down? Much as I appreciated the extra content, I also kind of miss the "where's he going with this" tone of the older style and kind of hope that comes back as part of the restructure. Videos more as a teaching platform than just straight news and delivery. I guess we'll see though. YT collects large amounts of telemetry and demographic information and I'm sure they'll be monitoring that and tweaking things as they go. The next few weeks will likely see quite a few changes (though most of them probably be subtle or even behind the scenes and not be super obvious to the average viewer).
What a truly great service Beau has done for our country, pushing out common sense and pragmatism to so many in the face of such constant insanity, day after day after day. I'll miss him as I miss other RUclips folks who have quit or passed. The pressure to provide content on a daily basis becomes a ball and chain to one's life. I was married to a workaholic. He developed a lot of health issues, too. He wouldn't step away. I'm supportive of Beau stepping away and not making a commitment to return. Workaholic detox is like any other detox: A long process.
We have get comfortable with the change because these channels are worth it.

@@MrNicoJac I've studied this a bit. Not an expert, but it's like alcoholism. You have to go cold turkey and then take it one day at a time. Look at the A.A. handbook and modify for whatever "ism" that a person is addicted to. It sucks for those who received benefits from the person's addiction. Support is everything. Kindness matters.
@@MrNicoJac In my case cold turkey is what it would take to truly stop the creeping part, but you can learn to resist it most of the time. I can't really stop since I'm a freelance translator and when I'm not translating or editing I'm competing for projects.
Thus the dog. She keeps me from doing 36-hour days, and as a living being she shifts my responsibility away from what in fact is just all the same in the end. Plus she actually likes me so that's a plus :)
Recently a video he made that was so emotional to me, talking about how parents and children have their relationships disrupted by President Trump wanting to take away birth control and pushing pregnancy on people. Now open my eyes to the stress es that already exist in between parents and children because some parents push their their pro-baby agenda so hard, and now the government's budding in, it's just terrible, that one completely broke my heart, and I can only say that Bo pointed out to me in a way no one else has, and I'm not surprised in any way that he needs a long recovery from staring reality in the face, a new direction someday.

If you (general you, not you specifically) ever remember those moments when he'd randomly bring her up on the channel, then you know getting together with her was one of his proudest accomplishments. His face lit up and his voice even relaxed a little every single time she came up.
That says more than I'd ever need to know to watch her just like I did him. I know it seemed sudden, and I know some people just might not handle change all that well, but there's a reason why they've been by each other's side all these years. I can't see any of the things that first drew me here changing all that much, so there's no reason for me to not follow along.

As much as I miss Beau's calm voice, I love Belle's delivery and how rapidly she's gaining confidence. I hope we can continue to hear her, and possibly other new voices.
My absolute best friend, is someone who I knew as 'friend of a friend.' We ran into each other by chance, sat down to lunch together and became friends very quickly 45+ years ago. I feel like I could sit down with my morning beverage and comfortably chat with, & get to know Belle.

I've been missing Beau the last few days - can't lie. But I watch this channel for the context, explanations, etc. Ms. Beau (or Belle - I like Belle) also has a great demeor that captures the level-headed political discussion that I think of with this channel. When I recommend the channel I say it's like a 5 min civics class. I really appreciate the work you do!

I have seen other channels that change their face and it doesnt work. This is working brilliantly, Belle. You have stepped up and kept the same energy (level-headed, informative and grounded). I ain't going anywhere. Beau kept me sane these past five years and I'm glad to have a new Internet Mom now.
Beau has given so much and it’s profoundly moving that his family has stepped in to give him the specific support he needs now. While I will certainly miss him, his wellbeing is much more important-the kind of priority he has long advocated.

Having a woman as the face and voice of the channel is pretty awesome. In my industry there was an entire union fight about the right to sit down. I am pro seated videos!

Perhaps, but don't forget that part of the "promise" of this channel is that the image on the thumbnail was a big redneck-looking dude - Beau intentionally cultivated that image as it gets people who might otherwise not be receptive to his message to at least take a look.
It feels to me like Ms. Belle is still in the process of ironing out her nerves and will probably be just as good at presenting as Beau was within a month or so. I don't really have any concerns about the content changing significantly. Maybe some of the tech and space news will shift to someone else as I'm sure Ms. Belle has different "nerd" interests, but the political stuff I expect will be fairly consistent.
But.... she's never going to have the big orange beard. That alone is unfortunately likely to reduce the channel's reach to at least one segment of the people who most need to be reached.
Then again Beau's also been trending toward being a lot less subtle in his messaging (that is, the videos are more obviously left-leaning earlier in the playtime. Go back and watch some of the videos from 2-3 years ago and there's a marked difference in tone, at least in a lot of them). Whether that's just due to overwork and lack of time as he moved from 3 to 4 videos a day or if something else shifted, I can't say, but it's definitely something worth noting. When was the last time you saw the patch upside-down? Much as I appreciated the extra content, I also kind of miss the "where's he going with this" tone of the older style and kind of hope that comes back as part of the restructure. Videos more as a teaching platform than just straight news and delivery.
I guess we'll see though. YT collects large amounts of telemetry and demographic information and I'm sure they'll be monitoring that and tweaking things as they go. The next few weeks will likely see quite a few changes (though most of them probably be subtle or even behind the scenes and not be super obvious to the average viewer).
