This song starts off dark but ends so light. The contrast is beautiful.. from the perspective of art (in my opinion), I’d say it’s one of Dave’s most impressive pieces.
*Please God let this man live forever. Been a Dave fan since mid 1990's when I was a teenager. Amazing that now in my 40's I love his music even more. Definitely has gotten me thru a few decades of life ♥️*
There's a unique experience to be in a DMB concert. You feel the unity, happiness and love all around you in every cell of your being. I think it could be addictive! It is to me at least.
I know!!! I love that part & was just digging it & then I was like "Wait... how r they doing that w/o Boyd?!?" & I saw it being done on the keyboards. They improvised well. They lost 2 beloved members but still manage to jam unlike anyone else!! ❤
I used to go to 3-4 DMB shows per year 2013-2021 (excl COVID), and Mansfield was always one. Never have caught the Stone full band (only D&T), and had tix to this show but relocated to London in June 2021. Stayed up to watch/listen to this on the RUclips live stream, and my Mom and my cousin took my tix and got to be here for this. Very jealous, and am still holding out to catch a full band Stone. I will never forget staying up until like 1AM and hearing these opening guitar notes and just knowing I should have been here!
It's crazy to me that I saw them live as a teenager nearly 20 years ago now, and they STILL sound so incredible. There is just nothing like a DMB concert, I tell you. It is an experience to be had, at least once. The energy at them is awesome.
10 years ago at my first DMB show in Hartford (5/25/12) the band opened up with this song and it hooked me from being a studio album listener to loving the live experience. Last year at this show all the emotions of dark and light and intensity and beauty this song hit me in my first post pandemic DMB show unlike any opener can. To me this is the best DMB opener because it captures everything the band does great into one song and ignites energy into any setlist. Every show when the sun is beginning to set and the band takes the stage I hope to hear Dave begin with his signature stone riff.
Sounding amazing as usual! Truly enjoying this! Hoping to catch you guys live soon! You're music is something I listen to daily. It makes me happy and I can't help but dance! thank you!
lol I know I've got a little bit of a DMB obsession when I was already singing "fools rush in" before he even started playing it on the saxophone 😂… When they come back in at the end it always gives me goosebumps, what a great song
The one year I skipped going to Great Woods! Damn this is a great opener ! Saw this open back in 6/24/08 Mansfield when they would start behind white curtains !
The 2005 tour didn’t start until 6.1.05 first of all, second of all The Stone wasn’t even played in Mansfield that year, third of all I haven’t missed a Mansfield show yet and I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen the white curtain there (even though I do know the curtain you’re talking about) so which show are you actually referring to #Following
@@garykobelski9778 "no one" hah. it's effectively the Boston summer venue. top 12 all time plays, more than MSG. historically SPAC of course, Hartford an underrated DMB venue, but Mansfield has had its moments too (#34 liberation 2005.) They didn't even play Gilford until 2016! only 8x ever, lol. Mansfield '21 was a great show! Stone opener, Two Step tour debut main set closer preceded by LITHOG-Warehouse-Everyday. and also a SUAD-41-Grey St mid set run.
I guess as they age they lose a little steam, compare this performance to their Listener Supported Album performance and you’ll hear/see what I’m talking about.
Sounds so hallow and empty without the fiddle and with a soulless horns section😢 would love to make my 20th show at alpine this summer but really don't want my last taste of DMB to be smooth jazz version of former selves. You can't replace Boyd with a keyboard and the heart & soul of DMB is forever gone.. RIP Leroi
This song isn't the same without the violins at the end. I get it that they parted ways with Tinsley, but they really need to pick up a new badass violinist for these songs.

Same with The Last Stop - that's why I'm so bummed they stopped playing the outro!
Totally agree!
Agreed
@@guitarstuffs1236good thing that changed
@@EthanHultberg yes it’s back!!
If there was one band/artist i could listen to for the rest of my life, it would undoubtedly be DMB.
Agreed 🤘😍🤙

The beginning of this song has always seemed so mysterious sounding. This is one of my fave songs by DMB.
I agree.
It's filled with tension, I love it
@@TheShapingSickness absolutely!

I heard the ‘violin’ and thought I miss that. Such a sweet song.

Still one of my most favorite songs of all time.

I never had it at the top of my list of openers but I really enjoyed it (I was at this show, too) and you make a compelling case for it. it's so good!
Dave's smile 🥰🥰🥰 This song is pure fire!
Soy cubano y una fanático de este grupazo.... increíble canción
The crowd at the end is so powerful. I love it
One of my absolute favorites!
I attended this concert and will be going to the one in mass on Wednesday, pretty damn great for my first two concerts
My absolute FAVORITE song I never get tired of hearing this. Crossing fingers that it pops up at the Gorge this year 🤞
Thank you Dave Matthews band for being so talented and entertaining. I love your music so much! XO XO ❤️ Samantha
Was there, he poured it on like no other concert I've attended of his!
Was there this was awesome
Carter with the "here we go" gives me chills!
Much love from Hawaii.
Might be their best song

This one has a special place in my heart. Thanks for this. Hoping I find a way to see these boys in Hartford!
Absolutely beautiful... thanks for sharing
#1 on my play list 📄
What a great night of music that was!! Stone opener! SUAD!!

Try 6.24.08, bet.
this was a great way to start the show last summer!
This whole show should be a live trax, mansfield performances dont get enough love
Hartford and spac and gilford are all 10x better....no one cares about mansfield
@@garykobelski9778 i dont care about mansfielf either, prob cause it doesnt exist

My favorite….😁👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Stefan sticks the landing @5:15
Yet another video from yesteryear. I think Dave is still alive personally and just wants us to think he's dead.
👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
AVANTE PALMEIRAS 🇧🇷
They really should rename the metronome to the Carternome, you heard it first here.
The camera really focuses in on me in the crowd quite a few times. I was LOVING this performance.
I hear a violin but I don't see it. 🙈
I miss Boyd playing violin on this one.
