When the Gilligan gang went out of business in the late 90's, there was a Cannabis shortage in Ireland which resulted in a hugh increase in people taking hard drugs, that's what REALLY happend, that was her actual legacy and the net result of her efforts.

I’d say not a brave woman as much as a silly woman. The dangers where very real, she had a son and she should have let the police do their own work . There’s no reward for getting killed, only loss and pain.

If she wasn't intent on becoming famous, off the back of stories, she would still be alive. Writing stories about these animals then appearing on television, isn't a very intelligent decision.
