Do the trapdoors have to wooden? Or can they be iron or copper?
@@elijahtimofeyev2625 iron won’t work because to close it you have to have redstone
I do see some of you saying it doesn’t work. Just as a troubleshoot, I would go higher up in the air and light up as many caves beneath the farm as you can. Also turn your render distance down it you can so the mobs only can spawn where the farm is. It’s a lot more effort but it does greatly improve rates

I used this farm and I hate to use 3 layers. Make sure not to put any trapdoors on the platforms (only put trapdoors in the holes) over time u start to really accumulate A LOT of gunpowder. In a day I got around 10 stacks+

Bro, I was wondering why no creepers were spawning, I dug down to see if there was any caves, THERE IS A ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE ONE RIGHT UNDER, it had 3 mineshafts and 2 spawners 😭

This was very useful because I just got elytra from the end and I needed gunpowder
If your having trouble with the amount of creepers spawning then try building out 11 blocks to the right or left and afk there it worked for me the only downside though is that you don't get the levels.

No mobs are spawning in mine. I made it above water, lit up the surrounding area, went underwater to light up any caves, and nothing
What I see from other comments is to remove the trapdoors except for the holes and I have not finished it yet so I don’t know for sure

I don't think it works for me. I double checked all trap doors, stood afk for long enough and yet i don't have a single gunpowder or creeper spawning for that matter. Rip my time

Due to spawning mechanics changing, mobs now spawn in the center of blocks in 1.21+ and will not fall off the edge of the block nearly as often if they do, rendering this farm ineffective.
Toss a tamed cat on each level (worst case: one in each middle of the section, best case: redesign the farm to optimize cat range lol)?
The problem that I'm having is the creepers have no reason to move, they're spawning but they're not moving to drop down. So it's basically just on chance of them moving

Cats could help. But its a pain getting them up.
if you go far away enough they will teleport to you
Zombie are spawning in it and the creepers still detect me and explode what do i do

Is there any way to fix my farm from spawning other mobs? I triple checked and I built it correctly but it’s giving me different mobs other than creepers

@@SumthnBum1most of the people do creeper farm for the gunpowder -> which mostly used for the fireworks -> which mostly used with elytras. You get elytras after beating the game. The question is: how do you not have scaffolding yet, if you had already beaten the game and got elytras? It’s just bamboo (which you can easily find with elytras and then make automatic farm of it) and strings which could be gotten from literally millions of things: cats, spiders, chests, or you could just build a string duper 👌 The point is that you’re most likely already far enough in the game to have scaffolding if you try to build a creeper farm

Mine doesn't work. Idk why, there where creeprs spawing when i was building it, but when i finished nothing spawns.

Built it over a ocean and made sure all caves under neath are lit up with torches not getting any spawns on hard

Try setting your world to peaceful then back to hard
If your on a realm make sure the light level is at 0, and light up the ocean floor as well. Also instead of torches on the roof and side use slabs
Mine works but if urs isn’t working fly or walk around like 1000 blocks away if that doesn’t work the replace the trapdoors on the ground with walls not fences and then go 1000 blocks away if that doesn’t work spread out the walls more like 2 blocks away form each other
Every time I place a block on the one above the chest it triggers the pistons
I built everything right with 2 layers on a flat surface away from mountains in an oak biome but still cant get any creepers to spawn inside the farm anybody know how to fix this?

Can someone help I built this farm and the creepers are spawning in but they’re not falling into the killing chamber there just standing on the platforms and I double checked to make sure that I had placed trapdoors in all the holes and I did
are they open? and they need to be touching the platforms all around, not the wall around them. also your trap doors have to be flush with the holes in the platforms not a lil on top of the block.
@@jaredwills4514yes my trap doors are all flush with the floor and I’ve even put some cars inside and ryhey still just sit on the platform

I wish u wouldve did the materials bc it took me more then a hour and i just quit half way💀
Took me around 4 hours. I think that 50% of the time I was gathering materials (they often ran out so I had to go get some more a few times) 30% was spent on trapdoors; and remaining 20% was the easiest part js building with solid blocks
why does mine have mostly creepers but some skeletons
This doesn’t work, I had to remove the trap doors on the ceiling and floor of the platforms so it could work ( NOT the ones one the edge or over the holes) and the creepers can see me and blow up at the trident killing section so I replaced it with a trap door (but,sometimes baby zombies and spiders phase through )and added sticky pistons 4 blocks above so I have the option to collect my trident,
So this worked tho? Ur method?
@@CoCapYugi as best it could I personally could never get it to just spawn creepers so if you know how to make an item sorter then I would do that and also make a sort of safe room on the platform so if any mobs fall through then they won’t hurt/ kill you while afk (mine is a deep slate 2x1 room with an iron door)

Is the scaffolding important? I did this over water with a waterfall to get up and nothing spawns.

the more u have the better but one works fine

A creeper blew up right as it hit the ground, I had no time at all to react, and it destroyed the bottom of the farm. Idk what this guy was talking about when he said the creepers can't explode

i built 5 layers in mine 128 blocks over the ocean with simulation distance 10 and the rates are shit because all the creepers are just chillin where they spawned in and don’t path down any of the holes! any ideas on how to fix this?
The buttons didn't work ends up spawning spiders and skeletons. Replace them with trapdoor and it only spawns creepers
could you use campfires instead of the trident killer? I haven't got a trident yet in my survival world
You could, but you wouldn’t be able to take advantage of looting 3. By holding a sword with looting 3 when the trident is being juggled around, the game is registering that you’re killing the mob and the looting enchant is applied to the kill, even though you aren’t actually hitting it with the sword. It improves your rates tremendously. You can just have it be campfires or magma blocks, but it won’t be as good.

Doesn't work well at all. I get maybe one creeper every 3 minutes in the trident chamber. I peaked into the box with the spawn platforms. Plenty of creepers just standing there making no attempt to pathfind. I am so over creeper farms. I have built 5 over the years (3 different designs). None of them worked efficiently no matter what tweeks were made. This one is the worst though.

When I go to the spot to afk the creepers somehow start to explode I have the slab there and I followed the video exactly

So my creepers are spawning but not moving, did everything like you just went 6 high and way above the ocean, not in creative so it be a lot to redo if I needed to, I don't think I do though. My question is can I put pumpkins with the face craved out in the walls to help them move?

Hi so I built this entirely in survival and it works alright whenever I go inside of it I see creepers just standing on the the block they spawned on instead of walking off the open trap door I even put some cats in the middle on each floor but they still do not fall can anyone give me a solution plssss
Just make a basic mob farm its way easier to build alot cheaper and gives you 12+ stacks per hour
And also gives you alot of xp

Did you build it up high off the ground? You don’t want the game to be spawning mobs anywhere else
@@brianfarris5676 I built it 25 blocks off water there some surrounding land but I filled it with torches
I also afk all last night for 9 hours and got 34 gunpowder
@@dragonkazy7766 sorry to say, but I don’t think 25 is high enough. It depends on your simulation distance, but you can be spawning mobs close to 100 blocks away. It’s possible most of your spawns are in the water or even an underground cave system. That might be why your farm is working, but only very slowly.

Probably by having a full inventory because you might keep picking it up

So I had this issue everywhere I build these farms sin e the caves update unless it's over an ocean and I still try to light the ocean floor. But make sure your light level is at 0, all trap doors are correctly placed and then within a 100 block radius make sure all spots underground are lit up. Maybe go into spectator mode, one small spot not lit up can keep the farm from spawning creeper. But honestly last time I tried building over land I went up and built it 150 blocks in the air and nothing spawned. Also try turning down your simulation and set the world to peaceful then back to hard
