      Ima be honest, my school had cool teachers and one specifically is still friends with all of us on social media to this day and he talks hella crap to the other students because we’re all grown now. They clowned him for wearing Timbs all through high school to come to work with his shirt and tie 😂 and he told the kid his Daddy couldn’t afford to buy him anything but sketchers the whole time he had his class. We all cracked up, and that’s just how we joke with that teacher, so I can see why a teacher and student would have each others numbers. For us, it was different times back then and our teacher was more involved in our lives and we’d see them outside of school where we live. I don’t know if that’s how this guy was in his area, probably not if they think he’s texting the student inappropriately, but I’m just saying, not every teacher who has their students number is a creep. Also my father was a professor and he just passed in Sept. multiple of his students came and spoke at his funeral and he has not taught in years due to dementia, so that tells you a lot about the kind of person he was and professor

    • @laraantipova389

      This teacher was extremely inappropriate.
      You don’t tell kids “your daddy can’t afford…” that’s bullying. Also it sounds like a rivalry over a teen girl that he was having with a teen boy. Like why else would he need to say that? This is grooming behavior.

      I had a teacher who was fired for inappropriately texting a student outside of school hours, but he was never arrested because the texts could not be proven as sexual. I guess they could be classified as friendly texts that did not pertain to school work.
      It should be mentioned that the student he was texting was very beautiful and popular. But that teacher was known for trying to be friendly with the popular kids 🤷🏽‍♀️
      I remember him always wanting to act like our friend rather than an adult who was responsible for us. We all liked him.
      So while he was fired during the investigation, he never received jail time and was later reinstated at the school. Honestly he was a great teacher and won several awards for his teaching, but some teachers need boundaries with their students.

      @natmarelnam4871 Look, I was in high school in the '60s so I'm not going only by news reports. I'm also going by my personal experience. I personally know of one, maybe two teacher/student relationship(s) in the '60s, one in the '70s (they wound up getting married), and one in the '80s. Back in those days, well, if you weren't there, it's hard to explain, but the teachers were professional, down to business, and messing with a student was unthinkable for 99+% of them. Also, I disagree with you about the news. I think the news would have reported scandals if they were discovered. Let's put it this way: Other than the cases I told you about, I have no evidence of any hanky panky between teachers and students. Nowadays, somehow, I feel that the zeitgeist is more conducive to that kind of behavior. Of course you're never going to get 100% of crimes reported, but the ones that are reported are an indication, no doubt.

      No, instances of sexually inappropriate behavior between teachers and students have unfortunately persisted throughout the history of the teaching profession. What has changed is not the prevalence of such behavior, but rather our awareness of it. More individuals feel empowered to come forward and speak out against misconduct these days due to more awareness and support. In past decades, these issues may have been concealed or downplayed, but today, they receive greater attention thanks to our expanded access to media platforms. Thus, while these incidents may seem more prevalent now, they were simply less visible in earlier times.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful sex with a minor, which typically carries a 31-month to 13-year prison sentence. If she does not violate her probation for three years, her record will be completely cleared.

      Completely respect and understand parents that take the home school route. Personally, I feel the socializing, making friends and just regular interaction with other kids from age 5 to 15 is vital to creating a well-adjusted adult. I would be worried about my kids growing up to be awkward and not socially accepted. I would just talk to my kids regularly about why they should never text or have certain interactions with there teacher. Just an opinion

    • @CharleneBurgos
      @CharleneBurgos 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@mecca3000 I agree that socializing is important for overall development. I’d argue, however, that school is a place for learning, not socializing. But I do see your point. Thankfully, my kids are extremely social and very well-rounded. They are involved in sports within the local high school, they attend youth group, our local teen center, summer camps, and they have tons of friends. My kiddos have the most adventurous days with their friends on daily basis. It’s quite amazing. They go fishing, golfing, movies; they play basketball, baseball, football. They meet up at the library and hang out. All this is initiated by them and their peers. It’s great. And I love that they are adventurous. As a homeschooling parent, I have made it my business to ensure my kids have a great education, but also equip them to interact with the world around them. That wherever they find themselves, that they can interact and navigate those spaces with wisdom and discernment. Homeschooling goes beyond academics. Another cool fact: my boys can cook you any meal you’d like, clean, and do laundry. They are 13 and 14. I’d like to think my boys are off to a good start. My daughter who is 18, is also off on her own living and thriving. For us, homeschooling has been a gift. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I appreciate your insight and do respect your thoughts. I think homeschool has a stigma that quite frankly, hasn’t been our experience. And other homeschool parents I know, their kids are also excelling socially❤️.
