As an Early Stage Researcher is one a student or an employee (job)?

Hi! If I understand the question, in Finland once you are accepted for a PhD you are not considered a student. Also, in most cases, the PhD candidate is responsible to find and apply for funding for his/her research and he/she is not considered an employee.

Dear Tina! If I understand right PhD students in Finland are not eligible for scholarships. Are there any opportunities to participate in research labs or in teaching? Is it possible to get an industry job during your PhD studies? I don't know about your topic, mine would be computer science, that's why I am asking about industry opportunities too. Thank you for your answer in advance.
