Came here for a quick refresher before helping my grandson with 4-digit division. I like the technique of drawing columns...it helps keep everything in line. (I have used graph paper when helping in the past, but I like the columns.) Am I correct in noting that the only benefit to "Bring Up" rather than "Bring Down" is to save space?

The box method has helped family members with math problems, however when you get to some numbers such as --515 Divided by 58- the "fun" begins-- 58 will not go into 51- so it has to go into the full number..515..
-question--Would the 58 be placed on inside of the box-- on the left hand side ( under the one hundreds and tens column ) or on the right hand side--( tens and ones column )- would the 58 be entered as 058?
The 58 will have to go into the total number, unless there is another way to do this problem with the box method..
