I don't entirely think the backstory fits. Ink should be used to AUs dying by error. I think he should have attacked because his emotion vials got damaged after the X-Event. Ink should have been able to take on XGaster with the help of dream and other AUs. But error destroyed all AUs so he couldn't get anymore help. So he went insane without emotions because he couldn't create more without error destroying them. So he decided to wipe out all remaining AUs because there wasn't a point. He wanted to get enough power to kill all destroyers. My take also includes error killing ink because Ink secretly didn't want to survive due to all the emotions gone. So Error takes his turn on genocide because Ink talked about Error! Chara and Error! Gaster. He found an AU destroyer more powerful and managed to spare them because they were under control of Error! Chara. Error! Gaster also got killed and Error decided to access the mainframe and do a wide-scale reset. Also Error 404 and other ERRORS somehow managed to hide out without knowing about the reset. Please note that this is my attempt at naming a story and is not offical, thanks for reading!
