I can relate to this video in so many ways to the bullying part to my parents to people criticizing me for who I am. I do identify as goth and at my high school. I don’t have much friends and the little friends I have were really the only ones who have accepted me for who I am. But I try not to notice the glares and faces from everyone, including teachers. I’ve gotten bullied a lot during my freshman year and sophomore year, it was really hard for me to go school without feeling like a freak. But, now I’m in Junior year of high school and things have gotten better. The people who bullied me started to leave me alone and I made new friends who are algo goth/emo/alt/punk. So whoever reads this comment and relates to this, your not alone and things will get better, people don’t like what they don’t typically understand, they just need time. Things will get better, I promise 🖤 ❤️
im late but im a metalhead, and i get the same experience. people call me out and judge me for wearing band shirts and dressing differently to everyone else and man, it bothers me. ive been called satanic, sad, depressed and stuff like that just for the way i dress.
I dress gothic myself & I've had people in public (sometimes very religious people) tell me I'm going hell or to rethink my choices. Like bruh, it's really annoying.
The fact a grown woman stalked someone because they wore black clothes with ripped tights and a cross necklace is just sad on the women's part. Fashion is fashion, lifestyle is lifestyle let people be who they are as long as they are not harming themselves or anyone else.
I have personally experienced this as well, people have hit me with dog leads, poured drinks on me, called me slurs, hit me, threatened me, etc and I'm only 13 and not even the most extreme person you'll see. I wear a spike choker, have a buzz cut and some piercings. Pair that with some eyeliner and people think its okay to ask me if I slit my wrists or If I'm fatherless. Fashion is unique and I hate when people who all look like clones of each other have the nerve to tell me I need to fit in?? I think even the people who dress like that are gorgeous and I think all looks are great but I'm really starting to question if I chose the wrong time to be treated like "a human being" people are honestly horrible and it's always great when you find people who actually appreciate you for you and dont judge you.
One time my cat accidently scratched me, and it was a pretty deep, long cut but I didn't worry about it and cleaned it. The next day I went to school, I rolled up my sleeves because it was getting hot. One of my friends shouted at me saying I was a cutter, and everyone laughed at me. I did do self-harm before. The joke really affected me, and I started silently crying. I quit a year ago, but it still haunts me to this day. I hate it how people are saying self-harm is a joke. It's a serious issue that needs to be talked about.
Even if you dress similar like everyone else, they still look for an excuse to judge you. Some people just have nothing better to do with their lives than judge others out of boredom.
I’m glad people at my school don’t judge me for being a goth. My ex sorta judged me for being a goth all because of my depression which I didn’t like and didn’t like how I always dressed as my regular gothic self everyday and at parties. "Like woman dressing fancy isn’t my thing, deal with it" I hate it when people don’t like what I wear and force me to wear fancy clothing which I only wear to big important events like weddings or if my dad says to. Don’t you guys hate that?
Its nice she said "I Don't care what ya look like!" its good to hear people not just say: BE YOURSELF, PEOPLE LOVES YOU it lets you know THIS person doesn't care what you look like annnd I think thats better
omg this is honestly so relatable, I love alternative fashion and music so much and literally all I hear at school is people calling me emo, and people calling me slurs. it's so like, not needed and annoying.

This hits me hard because this is the same for me. Its a style choice and a music preference. Its not like I've commited crimes and personally attacked you. I love myself and I love standing out from everyome else no matter what they say. Find what makes you happy, not what anyone else wants.
I honestly don't find Goth People too creepy nowadays, believe me, I know how ya feel. We're all here for ya! Isn't that the same Karen Mom from your older videos; "Don't Judge Me Because I'm A Goth"?
0:48 Never have I heard anyone actually say that about school, I agree though. We have this illusion that school is a safe place but in reality, that’s not usually how it is for everyone. And it’s actually realistic to hear someone say that school isn’t always a “safe place”. That was unrelated but just thought of bringing it up
This video really made my day. Recently, I have been turning into this sort of mallgoth. For those of you who don't know what that means, mallgoth became a thing during the 90s when bands like Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, and Korn became popular. The style would basically be stuff you would find in the Hot Topic stores during that time which would include Tripp pants, band t-shirts, choker necklaces (mainly the ones with the spikes on them), giant black boots, and quite a few other different items. Before you come ranting on to me that mallgoth isn't a true goth style, I do happen to know that, but I consider it to have a little bit of a connection with the original Gothic style since the style mainly involves wearing black. I also happen to appreciate the original goth subculture myself since I listen to a little bit of Gothic rock too like The Cure and The Bauhaus. It's the style that I like and I want to try it out, but I'm faced with a big problem in order for me to do that. I'm a bit afraid of what people are going to think when I all of a sudden start dressing like that. I'm afraid that people are going to insult me like the girl in the video. But what really scares me is when I tell my parents. I'm afraid they'll think there's something wrong with me and won't allow me to express myself the way I want to. My dad thinks people that are involved in subcultures like this do it for attention. What will he think of me when I'm like this? Will he think I'm doing it for attention too? Because I don't do it for attention, I'm like this because it's who I am. I like wearing black clothing, I like listening to metal bands like Marilyn Manson Korn Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot, I like listening and reading scary stories, and I also happen to be into other stuff that's not scary too like Star Trek (amazing shows and movies). This video gives me a little bit of a confidence boost. I just hope that one day I'll get the courage to finally say who I am. Do any of you have similar problems too?
I'm 13 and I'm also a punk/goth and I go through the same situation at school like this other boy was like "glad h@ng yourself since you wanna die so bad" and I there was a rumor going around saying that I'm demonic and that I bewitch people and it's honestly sucks.
I understand you! Am Pastel Gothic and anytime annoying kids always pick on me whenever they see me. I just try to best to ignore them and tell them to screw off. It’s annoying how they act like am an Edgy annoying child when am just a normal person with a Gothic style
I'm in 8th grade and dressing in a unique style is hard because of how clicky people are. I came in wearing red plaid pants with a chain and people kept calling me emo. And when I just wore a gray hoodie and jeans no one did a thing. It's ridiculous how people judge you based on your looks. When I start high school, I'm going to start dressing in that kawaii goth style and not give a shit on what people think.

As a goth/alt person in a public middle school, this is one of the most relateable videos I’ve ever seen😌

im late but im a metalhead, and i get the same experience. people call me out and judge me for wearing band shirts and dressing differently to everyone else and man, it bothers me. ive been called satanic, sad, depressed and stuff like that just for the way i dress.

I salute her for her coolness and confidence.
I love how the karen that discriminated against her had the same design as the one from the past goth girl video. 😂

When they drew her throwing that woman's opinions and her kids in the trash. X.D

i love how they drawn the makeup on her it's so beautiful!!
1:19 I saw that lady in another storybooth video that was also about a goth girl
I don’t why people judge others based on what they wear and how they look. It’s good that we’re all different and unique and not clones of each other

You are absolutely right. No one shouldn't judge on the appearance of people.
I’m glad people at my school don’t judge me for being a goth. My ex sorta judged me for being a goth all because of my depression which I didn’t like and didn’t like how I always dressed as my regular gothic self everyday and at parties. This encourages me a lot in a positive way to be in this society. Thanks for for sharing your story.

I had the exact same thing in my school. I wish I was as brave as this though, I stopped dressing goth, something that made me really happy because I was too afraid.
This hits me hard because this is the same for me. Its a style choice and a music preference. Its not like I've commited crimes and personally attacked you. I love myself and I love standing out from everyome else no matter what they say. Find what makes you happy, not what anyone else wants.

Never have I heard anyone actually say that about school, I agree though. We have this illusion that school is a safe place but in reality, that’s not usually how it is for everyone. And it’s actually realistic to hear someone say that school isn’t always a “safe place”.

@Amanette yes they can be clowns
Do any of you have similar problems too?
same here!!! but im not really into mallgoth or metal im more into tradgoth and gothic rock
I like how storybooth lets the actual person tell their story
Two things:
1) I called it that it would be a story about not being accepted as a Goth.
2) I think the Goth style can be really pretty.
This happens to me all the time…people call me emo depressed broken slit your wrist and everything.it’s disgusting.
It still happens..
When i clicked on this video youtube legit left a disclaimer saying "this video contains topics of self harm and suicide"
Storybooth is the best channel ever
As someone who dresses emo/grunge/punk, I hate that we sometimes get weird looks. Like it’s just a good style leave us alone 😭
