Catching up here. The reason why I started collecting as a kid was because of my dad. Hugo man and boss bottled were his jams. You ain’t a true 90s kid if you don’t like those lol. Along with drakkar noir. He passed in 2019. Wasn’t father of the year but I’ll always remember his taste in music and his sillage from the frags I just mentioned. You’re a good dude Ross and thanks for always chopping it up with us and sharing cool stories 👊
In 2012 with almost 19 years of marriage I lost a wife to suicide and for the first two or three months I was sleeping two or three hours a day. One night I got up and went and looked in the medicine cabinet and I found her little bottle of Estee Lauder. I took The cap off smelled it and then sprayed it in the air. Almost instantly my pulse rate slowed down. For the next 6 months or so when I couldn't sleep I would spray her side of the bed with that and then I would turn the opposite direction like I always did and I could finally get to sleep. I hope it's okay to mention this dude and if you don't like it I'll take it down but I recently did on my channel a video called the psychology of fragrance. I hope you don't mind mentioning that sir.

Just catching the replay, hate when I miss lives xD. I lost my dad in 2012 to lung cancer, he religiously wore Obsession for men, not the EDT spray but the aftershave splash. His jacket for months after still smelled like it, I have since picked up my own bottle and strictly wear it once/year on his birthday. It's crazy what kind of memories & emotions the sense of smell can bring to you. Thank you so much for this live Ross, everyone needs to let the love of fragrance in and stop shitting on the art. If you don't like it, move on.

My Father Always wore Old sice or Skin Bracer when I was young and then as I got older he discovered Aqua Velva and wore that until the end of his days. As for cologne. Preferred Stock, Aspen, Gravity. And Then when I started getting into frags I would give him some of mine :D You'll appreciate this one most I think Ross.. The last frag I gave him for Christmas last year was a JUMBO OG light blue and he made it thorough just over half of the bottle :D He loved smelling good :D

Quick fragrance story if u have time:
I was killin time @ a flea market and I came across a Mary Kay fragrance called “Domain”. Turns out the perfumer behind this scent is Theirry Wasser who is as I’m sure u know a rockstar! Anyways the fragrance smells like Chanel Allure Homme soooo close id say kick up the spice but still subtle and that same citrus note in Chanel allure homme and that’s what domain is! Thanks again for all u do Ross
There are several that being about emotions. There is floris 89. The smell reminds me of my grandfather and my dad. Its that old school barbershop smell with a touch of an old staple a hair pomade called tres flores. And my 1st pricy and niche was amouage epic man. And that is the 1st one my son gravitated to. So it reminds me.of him. But really every fragrance i have takes me to different places and events. Thats why i love the hobby.
Catching up - Seeing a regular occurrence here and I’m no different I got into fragrances because of my father he had loads in the 80s early 90s
