The fact that he was happy that Tonari & Sandal were still alive... right in front of him but he didn't recognize them til Tonari passed & he turned into her.
If you look at the list of arcs and their names, then you'll see that all these tragedies are building to a different kind of arc. Not sad, but worthy of the effort it took to get there. You'll see what I mean soon enough.
@@Calvin_M. Yeah, but it has gotten better, Kauhaku and Bon have stayed alive for quite a while now. I think most people were just disapointed with the janada arc
In the manga, his reaction to transforming into Rean was more profound, as the panels slowly shows who he was transforming into next, building up the shock and tragedy the moment he transformed into her and the realization hits, along with no words being spoken as he fell to the ground. The panels took extra care to show his reaction, at just how deeply he was hurt that the last piece of Gugu’s love ones had past away, and he didn’t even know about it. This anime was just bulldozing past it.
Yeah the pacing of the first third or so of season 2 was a bit all over the place. I think they wanted to get as much exposition out of the way as fast as possible to focus on the church and battle arc in order to keep with the 20 episode season.
It must have really hurt to learn that so many of his friends had died all at once. I'm sure he expected the boozeman to have died sometime around when Pioran died, but Rin and Gugu's brother could have still been living.
This show is emotional roller coaster and im not even a emotional person i almost never care when a character dies but this show really knows how to get someone attached to a character just to make it more painful when they die
When he transformed into young Rean, I thought he transforms on how he remembers them and I was thinking maybe she lived longer. Then Tonari died and he transformed into her matured form not knowing thats her. Rean died young, maybe shortly after he left.. 😢
I don’t think she died young. Rather Fushi transforms into the version of the people he knew at the age they were when he met them last. He never saw Rean after he left Booze Man’s home so that’s probably why he transformed into the young version of her. Had Tonari died before Fushi could met her again, he probably would’ve turned into the young version of her
@mukuroikusaba7347 well it is a medieval setting and there would be plenty of things to kill you during that time. Hell a simple cut can as we saw with the nameless boy.
No Pioran? Or was it because she died after the island arc that he hadn't gotten to her yet. Some of those people were still alive when we last saw them before the island, but I'm guessing they died in the last 40 years. I'm guessing he hasn't seen them since.
Somewhat light spoilers: Pyoran's last wish was to be useful to Fushi and the old man granted that to her. You don't really know how it happens unless you pay attention to the volume covers though.
@@Nandinandito I am aware of that. However as far as I know Fushi isn't aware of that yet. Regardless of if he is able to transform into her or not he didn't even try while cycling through his transformations. That said he might of gotten hung up on the first two he wasn't able to turn into.
Spoilers (and everything below too): Here you have an example of a manga reader ruining people's day so they feel as bad as he does for having absolutely nothing going well in his life
What the f *REAN IS DEAD!?* i don't remember Fushi ever turning into her! Well, actually, she noticing that the "Gugu" saying good bye was just Fushi trying to cover, and she being left behind alone was so depressing, she dying soon after is actually less sad.
Yeah, me and a couple of my friends were having fun while watching anime together, and when one of my friends put this on it kinda just killed the hole vibe because of how sad it was😢

Give a round applaud to the entire English Dub VA's cast!
To get some English VAs all back while Fushi transforms takes effort.

Man is this show really good and well written. A great sense of sadness but yet hope.
Kinda, the only thing I don't like is how repetitive it gets. Like he meets someone, then this someone dies and it goes on loop.
