Guys, thanks for all the comments. Please understand that I was given very specific instructions on this series overall. For this video, I was only told: "Tribute to Avicii, whom Angelina had a friendship with and had worked with." I hear you and will watch the original video, but I did not know the story going in so please understand that. I react to what I know. I appreciate you all and hope you can understand

Aaron, when you check Avicii’s original of this song you’ll even be more moved by Angelina’s tribute performance of it. Avicii’s original is fast paced, and as I recall gives an young person’s viewpoint that life can go by quickly, live it, enjoy it, so you won’t be disappointed when it’s all over. You’ll probably recognize it as it was a very big hit in its day. After Norway's Got Talent - Avicii became a friend of Angelina and her family - Angelina is singing Wake Me Up as a tribute to Avicii after he had committed suicide.
This is Angelina re-making a song completely: tempo, attitude, vibe, and meaning. It’s a song written by her friend Avicii who committed suicide. Avicii’s original upbeat song is about living for the moment you’re in-never mind the future. Angelina turns this song into a sad celebration of her friend’s life. The title, Wake Me Up, is darkly ironic, and Angelina makes this a simply sung, beautiful eulogy for her friend. At 12, her wisdom, her compassion, and her sorrow transform Avicii’s Wake Me Up into a farewell moment. A perfect tribute, sung from the heart.
Aron, if you aren't familiar with a song, you should take 3 minutes to watch the original just before you start recording, so it's fresh in your mind. If so, you would have realized that this is one of her total song makeovers, not just a cover. A truly beautiful tribute to a friend.

Angelina takes a fast paced dance song and turns it into a tribute ballad for her friend, Avicii. She is a master at reimagining songs. The lyrics really hit hard in this one.

Angelina Jordan was a personal friend of Avicii, the Swedish music producer. She performed with him in concerts snd she covered many of his songs. In 2018 Angelina sings a slow version of Avicii’s song “Wake Me Up” as a tribute following his death. Tim Bergling (8 September 1989 - 20 April 2018), known professionally as Avicii, was a Swedish DJ, remixer, and record producer. At age 16, he began posting his remixes on electronic music forums, which led to his first record deal. He rose to prominence in 2011 with his single "Levels". His debut studio album, True (2013), blended electronic music with elements of multiple genres and received generally positive reviews. It peaked in the top 10 in more than 15 countries and topped international charts; the lead single, "Wake Me Up", topped most music markets in Europe and reached number four in the United States. In 2015, Bergling released his second studio album, Stories, and in 2017 he released an extended play, Avīci (01). His catalog also included the singles "I Could Be the One" with Nicky Romero, "You Make Me", "X You", "Hey Brother", "Addicted to You", "The Days", "The Nights", "Waiting for Love", "Without You", "Lonely Together" and "SOS". Bergling was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on "Sunshine" with David Guetta in 2012 and "Levels" in 2013. Several music publications credit Bergling as among the DJs who ushered electronic music into Top 40 radio in the early 2010s. Bergling retired from touring in 2016, after several years of stress and poor mental health. In 2018, he died by suicide while on holiday in Muscat, Oman. His third and final album, Tim, was released posthumously in 2019. On 14 June 2013, the world premiere of Bergling's new single, "Wake Me Up", was previewed by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, featuring vocals from Aloe Blacc. The song was later released on iTunes and radio on 25 June 2013. It is the first single from Bergling's album True, which was released on 16 September 2013. "Wake Me Up" was number 1 on the Spotify Global Chart and Bergling was at 2 in most streamed artist worldwide. "Wake Me Up" later went on to set a then record of 14 weeks as the number one hit on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs list. The Official Charts Company announced on 21 July that "Wake Me Up" had become the UK's fastest selling single of 2013 after overtaking Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", having sold 267,000 copies in its first week on sale in the UK. "Wake Me Up" subsequently became a major hit, topping the charts in over 20 countries including Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
Aaron you can not possibly know everything so no nead to say " hope you understand ". As 60 I feel never to old to learn. Why country is near to my heart, storytelling at it's best. This was AMAZING!! That low notes, the emotion! Unbelievable. You are appreciated. Greetings from South Africa
Another song Angelina flips and repurposes. The most heartwarming "eulogy" I have ever heard and at the same time a personal statement of sorts. Done with perfection as to it's purpose. You must listen to the original. As I say--it is her choices and they come from a special place.
Angelina is the queen of tributes. Just in 2018 alone, she did this moving tribute to Avicii; one for Aretha Franklin when she passed; and as you've seen, 2 for her grandfather. Her ability to pick just the right song with just the right arrangement, and usually somber and moving vocals, is stunning. I hope she does a tribute to Quincy Jones.
Aaron, I agree with other's in this section who say you need to see the Avicii song to understand more about her artistic interpretation, as well as her ability to turn it into a memorial tribute. Avicii was a troubled man, who eventually took his own life...if you need help, there are resources available, and please seek them out! Somebody like Angelina may miss you terribly, and your time on this earth is preciaous.
Angelina (12), so mature beyond her years! She has a heart of gold and was definitely put on Earth to show love and help people heal! An Avicii song that was an EDM SONG! Slowed this down and told the story! 🇳🇴🇺🇸💯
For those who know the original version of the song you really get the deep feeing of Angelina’s slowed down tribute to her friend who took his life at 28. . With the holiday season around the corner maybe you can start a series on Angelina’s Christmas music including her My Christmas 3 song maxi- single from when she was 8 and her 5 song Christmas EP from last year. There are other Christmas performances that fans can provide links to. Most notably her performance of Mary’s Boy Child.
She definitely be a Nobel Price one day (I said that in an interview when they ask me were do I see her 10 years from now) Well, maybe some people may think is too soon, but after witnessing her dedication and commitment during her first 10 years of career… nothing will surprise me ❤
Who told you this was a country song? Originally it was EDM of all things, but Angelina is singing it in tribute to her friend, who ended his own life. Angelina's tributes are among her most beautiful performance and you can hear her pain in this. 😎
The beauty of Angelina and her genius ability to re-imagine a song ,she has elevated his song to where it belongs and, brought the lyrics to life for her friend. It is not just listening to a singer she is an experience that is beyond the music industry. words are redundant there is never enough earthly time to give to her , there is no one like her. Our barefoot pioneering Angel.💜💜💜💜💜👣💜💜💜💜💜
Stunning - yes, but there is so much more to this then you can imagine. Angelina worked with him in 2015, he wanted to use her Feeling Good song to use in a Volvo commercial. Tim Bergling, known as AVICII - DJ, song writer, music producer - famous for Electronic Dance Music, Wake me up released in 2013 - made a very big impact in Europe. Tim took the name AVICCi when he could not use the name he wanted on an online account. - in Buddhist philosophy this is the lowest cold hell. To me ii is clear that he was a troubled soul. There is an interesting review of his song crossroads, by Alan Papier (of wrapped in a warm blanket) titles -long road to Hell ruclips.net/video/EkSE_op6kek/видео.html In April 2018, was drunk when he took his own life in a most terrible way, he was just 28 years old. This was very early in the Ivan Mendez period, Angelina needing the reassurance of her flower crown. She slowed the song down, made it all about the story. The words suddenly had a much deeper meaning, brought to us in the way that Angelina can. Maybe a wild speculation, but later in 2018, Angelina was asked to sing a song on an album by Nico Cartosio - his otherwise instrumental album called Melting. The story of the journey from the lowest cold hell to the enlightening - he wrote Song for A specifically for Angelina to sing. Such a strange coincidence that a story of rising form AVICII to a melting and release from hell...
Avicii was a Swedish DJ and mix master, who skyrocketed to stardom around age 23. "Wake Me Up" was from his first album and hit #1 in most European markets and reached #4 in the United States. The official video by Avicii has 2.3 billion views. Angelina met Avicii and there is a short video of her with him. I think Angelina could relate to the lyrics in this song and I love her arrangement. Once again, Angelina is wearing black for a tribute video.
Watching little Angelina early in the video you get sense she feels there is something wrong with her friend Avicii: ruclips.net/video/LpOvvipInyw/видео.html
Angelina has lost several important people in her life and mist before the age if twelve Shas list both grandfathers has absent fathers has list her friend Avici and many if not most if all the artists she admires have ling been gone She literally lives with loss while orividing a better life for us and the rest if the world through her music. She has carried the wait on her young shoulders and given back live and light. We all need to pray for her to have the strength to navigate through the sometimes wicked and always difficult music industry that has eaten up countless if young vocal artists and celebrities through the years. And then theres the people who once your sucessful want to latch onto you to get what they can.The so called friends who live iff if your fame and firtune. She has a great family but shes still si young and most young people dream if having that ine person to share your life with.I pray she finds someone wirthy of her to share in her journey
Aron, please read the Wikipedia page about Avicii. Not the page about this song but him. Of particular importance, at least to me, is the excerpt from the letter his grieving parents released after his death.I believe it is particularly relevant to Angelina and the decisions Sara had made about protecting her from the music industry. Avicii was primarily an EDM musician. She was his friend, and they had worked together on a Volvo commercial when she was even younger. It was this song that convinced me that she truly did get it. It seems like the song could both be about how he felt prior to his suicide and also about how she felt afterward. That she really was not "too young to understand."
Angelina may have worked with Avicii on the Volvo commercial, but the final version of "Feeling Good" used in the commercial was sung by Audra Mae, great-grandniece of Judy Garland. Some angels believe Avicii, the master mixer, mixed in some of Angelina's vocals.
I have always loved this: I heard the original only recently and it seems completely different.. it is as though when Avicii died she somehow discovered within his song something very different that made for the perfect vocal tribute... very melancholy and absolutely beautiful - and that final "bye" is so subdued and sad, it's a killer
Hope you listened to the original from Avicii Aron...it is a fast passed EDM song that Angelina, at this young age decided to slow down (like she loves to do) and create a beautiful tribute to her friend Avicii. She was very sad at losing another dear friend at such a young age, and of course she has already seen enough of this at her young age. Her ability to take these kinds of loses in her life and turn them into beautiful songs and tributes is quite remarkable. We shall never see another artist like this, probably in our life time so we just get to gaze in amazement at who she is. Cheers. Stay well. Thanks for not "over analyzing". It simply is what it is. The beauty of Angelina is she does not just sing lyrics...she lives them and understands them and delivers that to all of us. The choices she makes are deliberate and come from her Soul!
It's worth listening to the original. It's much faster and upbeat. It was a massive hit. I'm sure you'd recognize it. What's amazing is how Angelina took it and completely flipped into a tribute to Avcii. It's a different song with a different meaning. 🍁
💖Angelina’s tribute to avici who she met when she was younger 💖Angelina always wears her heart on her sleeve and the flowers are meaningful to her Norwegian roots 💖💜💖
Adults make two classic mistakes with "Children". The underestimate what they are capable of doing and understanding and they over estimate. That's what the challenge is.
There is a lot to add and I am very sure it is not impromptu. This time it would have been beneficial to look up the song and original artist. Without context and without knowing the original, one can only appreciate 10% of the credit this performance deserves. Ivan in stained glasses, flower crown, song choice, general mood - everything has a reason, just like on "You are always on my mind". Tim Bergling aka Avicii was a Swedish (born in Stockholm), Grammy-nominated DJ, remixer and record producer. Bergling retired from touring in 2016 after several years of stress and poor mental health. In 2018, he committed suicide while on vacation in Muscat, Oman. Angelina and Avicii worked together on a Volvo commercial in 2015 when Angelina was 9 and became friends - it must be hard to lose a friend at that age (she was 12) and in that way. They knew each other before, and probably met for the first time shortly after Norway's Got Talent in mid-2014 (there is a photo of them together, taken in August 2014). It looks like he mentored her a bit - in a radio interview just before Christmas 2014, Angelina reported that they shared a studio (could have been in Stockholm - Angelina's father is also Swedish). She couldn't even pronounce his stage name correctly; to her, he was probably just Tim. The song choice is no coincidence - what a touching tribute straight from the heart. It seems like Avicii actually felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and in the end didn't have the strength to carry it. Poor guy, such a sad story. "Wake Me Up" is one of Avicii's most famous songs, it was voted the most successful dance track of the 2010s and is number 13 on the 100 songs list of the Official UK Singles Chart. It's the only song to make the Billboard Decade-End without hitting the top three in a week. It peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Top 100 and topped four other Billboard categories. It also reached number one across much of Europe and charted well in several countries. The song was described by Variance Magazine as a "summer anthem," and throughout the 2013 festival season, Avicii played it as part of the opening or closing sequence of his sets at EDC Las Vegas and other gigs. Angelina took this upbeat song and turned it into a heartfelt tribute, making the lyrics "visible" in a way that makes you say, OMG, I never paid attention to how profound they are. And you're not so wrong about "folk" -- "Wake Me Up" is a folktronica song that blends elements of EDM, soul, and country music (Avicii was an EDM artist). There's also a fan-made tribute video showing glimpses of the happy parts of Avicii's life - including a short clip showing Angelina & Avicii together at the beginning and a photo of the two at the end - set to Angelina's vocal track you just listened to ruclips.net/video/LpOvvipInyw/видео.html
Thanks A-Aron. The reactors 'job' in making truly blind reactions is far from easy or straightforward. You are doing great, giving us some invaluable insights as you get to know AJ in addition to your emotional response to her vocals. In the early days some truly great reactors gave up on AJ and never came back because of the 'feedback' they were getting from fans. It's a HUGE loss to youtube that only those with thick skins can survive.
This is an Avicii song that Angelina choose to dedicate upon learning of his death. Angelina had worked with him when she was 8 or 9 on a Volvo commercial he was working on. She recorded a rendition of "Feeling Good" that is a different arrangement than the arrangement she performs later on at age 10 and beyond, which is her arrangement.
Angelina Jordan's rendition of "Wake Me Up" by Avicii is indeed a deeply moving performance. Her ability to convey such profound emotions through her voice can leave listeners on the brink of tears with each phrase. It's clear that her connection to the song and the artist adds an extra layer of depth to her performance. Avicii's choice of Angelina for the vocals on his Volvo commercial campaign, where she covered Nina Simone's "Feeling Good," was a brilliant decision. Her unique voice and emotional delivery brought a fresh and captivating interpretation to the classic song. My interpretation of "Wake Me Up" as a metaphor for someone who became very famous in a short period of time and struggled to meet the demands placed on them. Avicii's own life and career reflect this narrative, as he rose to fame quickly and faced immense pressure, ultimately leading to his tragic end in suicide. The song's lyrics and tone capture the sense of longing for a simpler, more manageable life amidst the chaos of fame.
Avicii provided a studio for Angelina in his own facility.. The song, which I had not heard before Angelina sang it, is reputed to be a dance-and-be-happy sort of fast, upbeat commentary on youth. Leave it to Angelina to slow it down thereby extracting the masked suicide note.
Thanks A-Aron... in my opinion to understand how incredible her version of Wake Me Up really needs for you to listen to the original EDM version by Avicii. She completely reinterpreted the mood of the song like she did with Suspicious Minds, Bad Valentine, Unchained Melody, etc... she changed an upbeat edm song to almost a eulogy he wrote for himself before committing suicide.
¡¡Hola, Aaron!!
This recording took place in 2018 in Norway shortly before AJ and her family relocated to LA, which suggests that the guitarist was indeed Egil Clausen.
With Angelina's wistful rendition ... this song seems to have been written expressly to be "the note left behind" sad sad sad Incredibly different from the driving techno beat of the original... world wide hit version.
I don't know who told ya this is a country song A Aron? This was originally a EDM type song from Avicii Angelina repurposed the song as she does for a tribute to her good friend Avicii who committed suicide . She slowed it way down and added her Emotion and pure loving voice and the rest is history. I'm sure Avicii is Enjoying This version that was custom made for him. He knew Angelina's talent . God Bless Great reaction A ARon.
8:07 ... because it was all over much too soon 😢 These lyrics are so well suited to say farewell to Avicii. It's almost as if it's his own thoughts 💭 started out quite young and got caught up in fame and fortune that ultimately became too much for him to handle, still trying to figure out his own personality while maintaining that _"rock star"_ facade. The lyrics are credited to Aloe Black who also sang them in the original recording, but as I listen to Angelina's version I realize that he must have been drawing inspiration for the lyrics by talking to Tim in a more personal way than just as a colab music production - it's just too spot on to be a coincidence ... and then of course Tim, aka Avicii, decided to release it as an up-beat dance track further enhancing that image as an happy go lucky EDM DJ/producer
This was a tribute to her good friend Avicii who just passed away during that time.. he took his own life. And I just cant imagine how devastated Angelina was during that time. Since then she became an advocate to mental health awareness, depression.. She even talked about that on her recent LA concert.
Where did you get that country thing from? One of the biggest arena in Stockholm is called Avicii Arena. Avicii involved Angelina in one of his commercial for Volvo cars. But they didn't chose her vocals. I don 'nt know why.
Good reaction, but it would have been much improved if you had listened to the original dance party version and knew the whole back story about his working with Angelina and later taking his own life. That’s why she “dedicated” his own music to him. I believe it is mandatory that you check the original and read the information on him

And it is a great song, I do recommend a listen to it 😊
I'm not aware that she performed with him in concerts, I am not aware of any. Could it be that your mix this part up with Alan Walker?
Ivan mendez on guitar .❤
Yes!!!

The word world is tricky to inflect. For her its butter
Song was originally an upbeat EDM song by Aloe Blacc.
She definitely be a Nobel Price one day (I said that in an interview when they ask me were do I see her 10 years from now) Well, maybe some people may think is too soon, but after witnessing her dedication and commitment during her first 10 years of career… nothing will surprise me ❤
AVICII....R I P
There is an interesting review of his song crossroads, by Alan Papier (of wrapped in a warm blanket) titles -long road to Hell ruclips.net/video/EkSE_op6kek/видео.html
In April 2018, was drunk when he took his own life in a most terrible way, he was just 28 years old.
This warm voice, driven so delicate, heartfelt and intimate ... It's incredible! She is ageless!
Such a beautiful farewell song for her friend Avicii ❤️ she is a true angel 👸🏻🎙👣💫
@andyschnell58 I knew the final version wasn't her. Just wanted Aron to know they spent more time together than just some random meeting.
Thank you. Will do. Please see my pinned post
Thx 🙏😊
Ive never heard her sing this song before. Omg....she can do it all. Love her!!
👍👍 Great One Aron 😋😊
❤❤❤🌹🕊️🕯️ this moves me every time❤️ because i know she was friend with Avicci❤️ and the sad bye at the end😥 god bless her❤️❤️
This song mesmerizes me, such a sod contemplatiive tone. The way she holds onto the m's and n's, caused me to have a vision of "The Thinker".
🥰
Just heard a good song. Something like "Agoney and overies live together in perfect harmony, side by side on the piano....."
And unfortunately it was not angelina that ended up in the commercial... But it does sound like angelina when she was ten
The original is dance music kind of like EDM. And RIP Avicii.

❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉Aj🎉😊love you
¡¡Hola, Aaron!!
This recording took place in 2018 in Norway shortly before AJ and her family relocated to LA, which suggests that the guitarist was indeed Egil Clausen.
With Angelina's wistful rendition ... this song seems to have been written expressly to be "the note left behind" sad sad sad
Incredibly different from the driving techno beat of the original... world wide hit version.
Here’s a link to Avicii’s original, and yes, it does have a pop/country feel!

This was a tribute to her dear friend Avicii who died (suicide) in April 2018.

8:07 ... because it was all over much too soon 😢
These lyrics are so well suited to say farewell to Avicii.
Sorry i missed the o in most of my sentences.I hope you could read them lol
This was a tribute to her good friend Avicii who just passed away during that time.. he took his own life. And I just cant imagine how devastated Angelina was during that time. Since then she became an advocate to mental health awareness, depression.. She even talked about that on her recent LA concert.
Where did you get that country thing from? One of the biggest arena in Stockholm is called Avicii Arena. Avicii involved Angelina in one of his commercial for Volvo cars. But they didn't chose her vocals. I don 'nt know why.
In the recommendation sent to me

Did you know that Avicii committed suicide?
AFTER I did this, I found out but did not at the time
Good reaction, but it would have been much improved if you had listened to the original dance party version and knew the whole back story about his working with Angelina and later taking his own life. That’s why she “dedicated” his own music to him. I believe it is mandatory that you check the original and read the information on him
