No amount of villainy, lives lost due to her actions or trees burned would matter if she were about to undo it all anyways.
The ending proposed though asmo of “she becomes lich king and imprisons the undead” is basically what they did to Illidan, they redeem him, he then jails his mortal enemy Sargaras for all eternity. They do that and they are literally repeating themselves. Blizzard has put themselves in a corner with Sylvanas going for this whole, “Look guys she wasn’t evil all along because her soul was split, she couldn’t control her actions just like Anduin now and just like Arthas.” But no one is liking it and I certainly am not liking this story of “Forgive these evil characters because they were just being manipulated by this eviler character.”

He was always trying to protect azeroth from the legion, thus invading outland and becoming its ruler(Remember how he saved the high elves? How he saved the nagas?). Arthas on the other hand, became a real villain by the end, but then they switched his character, still turned out ok for the lore. All in all, out of the 3 characters(Sylvanas, arthas and illidan), illidan was truly the only one who remained pure till the end.
Didn't they say this will be the big reveal and that it will have multiple cinematics showing the past of Sylvanas and what not, this is a 1 min in-game cinematic and a cliffhanger nonetheless. Now what another 9 months?

She didn't have a change of heart. The Jailer showed Sylvanas the truth of the WoW universe, and claimed his plan was to unmake and reshape it so that there weren't these gods/demigods controlling everything so that people could have true freedom. Sylvanas was (and still is) totally on board with this. Zovaal was lying. He never planned on this libertarian utopia, he planned all along to reshape the universe into one where he rules everything and over everyone. Where is the change of heart? Sylvanas has the same ideals she had before Zovaal revealed his true intentions. Now, he's just another demigod that stands in the way of her vision of a better world. People can definitely not like the story/writing (especially because Sylvanas is a character written to be next level, top tier IQ and she really should've seen this coming), but I think they should at least understand the story when making an opinion about it.

In my opinion, she should've gotten her promise and the players should've been tasked with stopping Thanos and her before they alter reality. Sadly, what we have now is a storyline that is basically worse than Illidan's "Greater Good" ark. Sylvanas should be trialled for her crimes and be "ended", but something tells me, that's not gonna happen. If Tyrande gets her revenge denied by some plot armor bs... I don't even know.

They didn't DO Thanos, they TRIED to do Thanos. They failed. Nobody knew what the Jailer was planning, hell we still don't know. Nobody was rooting for the Jailer, partially because WE HAD NOTHING TO ROOT FOR, WHO EVEN IS THIS MANS? Nobody was destroyed emotionally by his inevitable success, because nothing was actually lost. Thanos snapped tons of our favorite Marvel characters away. The Jailer... caught an arrow, shot Sylvanas with a future redemption arc, and walked through a portal. Thanos attempt failed.

The WHOLE of the "infinity war" style plot basically all happened in the 9.1 story line. The keys used to bring the Jailer to power might as well have only been developed within that story line. The infinity stones in the MCU were being built up for way longer, so you can add that to the reasons why this failed. We had no investment in these keys the Jailer needed. You forget that Infinity War plays Thanos like he's the hero of the story. That's why Thanos succeeds as a character, because we get to know him, we sympathize with him, some people even kind of root for him in an odd way, and his actions once he's accomplished the goal of getting the infinity stones has IMPACT. This plot, being JUST Infinity War, fails at being Infinity War, and the Jailer fails at capturing what made Thanos great. Thanos story may not have ended with Infinity War, but Infinity War was still a complete story where people actually gave a shit.

How is Sylvanas a "good guy" now? She hasn't changed her mind about reshaping reality in a way that people have true freedom and they're not bound by "fate" and the wills of gods, titans, etc, where even in death you're forced into something you don't necessarily want to be a part of. Zovaal told her that was his plan, and in this cinematic he revealed that he was lying. He isn't planning on giving anyone freedom, he's planning on reshaping the universe into one where he rules. Sylvanas' motives haven't changed in the slightest. She just now knows that Zovaal is one more god on her hit list. Unless you're referring to her piece of soul being reunited with the piece of soul she still had, making it whole again. If they're using THAT as a "Sylvanas did nothing wrong/she regrets everything/she's good now", then indeed. The story is just as crap as for what they came up with Arthas. He did nothing wrong either because he was being mind controlled and will get redemption in Shadowlands now that we know the truth. Oh wait..., I think we're supposed to like the Arthas story and hate the Sylvanas one even though they're mirrors of each other. Silly me.

And yet, even that you talk that Arthas was mind controlled in WOTK, you dont have proof that his actions in the past was because he was mind controlled. Kill his own father, split Uther's soul, Stratholme and others things that he do before he adquires the Helmet of Domination. But this doesn't matter because Arthas is good on this way. His narrative makes sense since the beginning, he is a good character with a good trajectory that makes sense on the perspective of his lore and didn't needed of retcon everytime like a certain character. It's absurd to compare a great character as Arthas with a shit villain as Sylvanas. But unfurtunately, Blizzard likes do destroy the old lore that now, because of WoW's actual lore stats, opened a debate of Arthas's actions based on Sylvanas's action in perspective of Sylvanas being a morally gray in Blizzard's perspective. Because, if you compare the two character, you clearly can see that Sylvanas do more evil actions that Arthas. Actions like: burn Teldrassil, use quimical warfare, mind break Derek Proudimore and make him kills his own sister while she is sleeping and more other things. Blizzard can talk what she want but all that things turn Sylvanas a evil character, not grey. But and Arthas? The fact that he do less evil things or his evil thinks makes more sense than Sylvanas's action make him grey too? No, Arthas is evil. The difference is that Arthas is a good evil character with a well elaborate lore. Sylvanas is a bad evil character with a bad lore.

Jailer's voice was way too low in the cinematic, I honestly didn't understand half of what he was saying. I'm not a native speaker but I can follow TV shows, games and voice chat just fine. I'm not sure how they listened to that and okayed it. I put more mixing effort into my personal songs that I never release to anyone else.

@@Hollywood_without_redheads Just as WoW FF14 uses standard stories from their region. Unlike WoW however they nail the pacing and presentation of the story and that the insanely big difference. Close to nothing that happened throughout 5.0-5.3 for instance was a suprise, if you ever watched an anime. But the presentation was just so ridiculously good, that it still hit like truck every time the hammer fell. Meanwhile WoW is just a yawnfest from start to finish

Same thing happened to sylvanas the good half went to heaven and the evil half became the undead one now theyre fused back together and Sylvanas is now the old Sylvanas from before getting killed by Arthas.(but her body is still undead)

1:00:10 I think chat was mentioning that Sylvanas just now realized she was set up from the very beginning. Her first death was orchestrated by the Jailer so she would play her part here to regain his power, Arthas had no control just like Anduin. That’s why she looked over to Anduin and then began piecing the puzzle together and realize he set her death to begin his plan all the way back then.

No amount of villainy, lives lost due to her actions or trees burned would matter if she were about to undo it all anyways.

The ending proposed though asmo of “she becomes lich king and imprisons the undead” is basically what they did to Illidan, they redeem him, he then jails his mortal enemy Sargaras for all eternity. They do that and they are literally repeating themselves. Blizzard has put themselves in a corner with Sylvanas going for this whole, “Look guys she wasn’t evil all along because her soul was split, she couldn’t control her actions just like Anduin now and just like Arthas.” But no one is liking it and I certainly am not liking this story of “Forgive these evil characters because they were just being manipulated by this eviler character.”

He was always trying to protect azeroth from the legion, thus invading outland and becoming its ruler(Remember how he saved the high elves? How he saved the nagas?). Arthas on the other hand, became a real villain by the end, but then they switched his character, still turned out ok for the lore. All in all, out of the 3 characters(Sylvanas, arthas and illidan), illidan was truly the only one who remained pure till the end.
Didn't they say this will be the big reveal and that it will have multiple cinematics showing the past of Sylvanas and what not, this is a 1 min in-game cinematic and a cliffhanger nonetheless. Now what another 9 months?

She didn't have a change of heart. The Jailer showed Sylvanas the truth of the WoW universe, and claimed his plan was to unmake and reshape it so that there weren't these gods/demigods controlling everything so that people could have true freedom. Sylvanas was (and still is) totally on board with this. Zovaal was lying. He never planned on this libertarian utopia, he planned all along to reshape the universe into one where he rules everything and over everyone. Where is the change of heart? Sylvanas has the same ideals she had before Zovaal revealed his true intentions. Now, he's just another demigod that stands in the way of her vision of a better world.
People can definitely not like the story/writing (especially because Sylvanas is a character written to be next level, top tier IQ and she really should've seen this coming), but I think they should at least understand the story when making an opinion about it.
@@erandelGG I was extremely annoyed that after all of her selfish nihilistic actions, she's basically set up for a redemption ark. In my opinion, she should've gotten her promise and the players should've been tasked with stopping Thanos and her before they alter reality.
Sadly, what we have now is a storyline that is basically worse than Illidan's "Greater Good" ark. Sylvanas should be trialled for her crimes and be "ended", but something tells me, that's not gonna happen. If Tyrande gets her revenge denied by some plot armor bs... I don't even know.

The story is just boucing from place to place and there is the infinite power creep where everyone enemy is the destroyer of the next level of reality that blizzard invents for the next expansion. They didn't DO Thanos, they TRIED to do Thanos. They failed. Nobody knew what the Jailer was planning, hell we still don't know. Nobody was rooting for the Jailer, partially because WE HAD NOTHING TO ROOT FOR, WHO EVEN IS THIS MANS? Nobody was destroyed emotionally by his inevitable success, because nothing was actually lost. Thanos snapped tons of our favorite Marvel characters away. The Jailer... caught an arrow, shot Sylvanas with a future redemption arc, and walked through a portal. Thanos attempt failed.

The WHOLE of the "infinity war" style plot basically all happened in the 9.1 story line. The keys used to bring the Jailer to power might as well have only been developed within that story line. The infinity stones in the MCU were being built up for way longer, so you can add that to the reasons why this failed. We had no investment in these keys the Jailer needed.
You forget that Infinity War plays Thanos like he's the hero of the story. That's why Thanos succeeds as a character, because we get to know him, we sympathize with him, some people even kind of root for him in an odd way, and his actions once he's accomplished the goal of getting the infinity stones has IMPACT. This plot, being JUST Infinity War, fails at being Infinity War, and the Jailer fails at capturing what made Thanos great. Thanos story may not have ended with Infinity War, but Infinity War was still a complete story where people actually gave a shit.

How is Sylvanas a "good guy" now? She hasn't changed her mind about reshaping reality in a way that people have true freedom and they're not bound by "fate" and the wills of gods, titans, etc, where even in death you're forced into something you don't necessarily want to be a part of. Zovaal told her that was his plan, and in this cinematic he revealed that he was lying. He isn't planning on giving anyone freedom, he's planning on reshaping the universe into one where he rules. Sylvanas' motives haven't changed in the slightest. She just now knows that Zovaal is one more god on her hit list.
Unless you're referring to her piece of soul being reunited with the piece of soul she still had, making it whole again. If they're using THAT as a "Sylvanas did nothing wrong/she regrets everything/she's good now", then indeed. The story is just as crap as for what they came up with Arthas. He did nothing wrong either because he was being mind controlled and will get redemption in Shadowlands now that we know the truth. Oh wait..., I think we're supposed to like the Arthas story and hate the Sylvanas one even though they're mirrors of each other. Silly me.

And yet, even that you talk that Arthas was mind controlled in WOTK, you dont have proof that his actions in the past was because he was mind controlled. His narrative makes sense since the beginning, he is a good character with a good trajectory that makes sense on the perspective of his lore and didn't needed of retcon everytime like a certain character. It's absurd to compare a great character as Arthas with a shit villain as Sylvanas. But unfurtunately, Blizzard likes do destroy the old lore that now, because of WoW's actual lore stats, opened a debate of Arthas's actions based on Sylvanas's action in perspective of Sylvanas being a morally gray in Blizzard's perspective. Because, if you compare the two character, you clearly can see that Sylvanas do more evil actions that Arthas. Actions like: burn Teldrassil, use quimical warfare, mind break Derek Proudimore and make him kills his own sister while she is sleeping and more other things. Blizzard can talk what she want but all that things turn Sylvanas a evil character, not grey. But and Arthas? The fact that he do less evil things or his evil thinks makes more sense than Sylvanas's action make him grey too? No, Arthas is evil. The difference is that Arthas is a good evil character with a well elaborate lore. Sylvanas is a bad evil character with a bad lore.
Sylvanas is going to do a full Grommash from WoD. She'll fight in the boss battle against the Jailer, we defeat him and she's going to have a trial like Garrosh in MoP...
Jailer's voice was way too low in the cinematic, I honestly didn't understand half of what he was saying. I'm not a native speaker but I can follow TV shows, games and voice chat just fine. I'm not sure how they listened to that and okayed it. I put more mixing effort into my personal songs that I never release to anyone else.

You know how Uther was split into 2 diffrent people when frostmourne hit him the angry half going to heaven and the patient half staying in the world of the living as a ghost? Same thing happened to sylvanas the good half went to heaven and the evil half became the undead one now theyre fused back together and Sylvanas is now the old Sylvanas from before getting killed by Arthas.(but her body is still undead)

@@RiseInAfterlife Never said I had hope of it being good lol. Game has been downhill since the beginning and now everyone that had a clue is gone. Wow has had fun raids but it has never been a great mmorpg even in classic.
Painsmith is the most fun I've had in a raid for awhile.
1:00:10 I think chat was mentioning that Sylvanas just now realized she was set up from the very beginning. Her first death was orchestrated by the Jailer so she would play her part here to regain his power, Arthas had no control just like Anduin. That’s why she looked over to Anduin and then began piecing the puzzle together and realize he set her death to begin his plan all the way back then.

@@PPolendina Because people, as well as you, are cynical about anything Blizzard does. 10 years ago this storywriting would've been considered insanely good. It's a long elaborate story, like the one from Warcraft 3. The majority of people (sheeple) have been reduced to petty haters for the heck of it, disliking everything Blizz puts out, regardless if it's something the community asked for or not. Imagine people currently crying about domination sockets but they were the ones asking for Tier sets, which is more or less the same thing. So yea, there you go.

The pain smith fight was probably the funniest thing I’ve seen in any stream in a long time. Granted I don’t watch a lot of streams but watching people die to slowly moving spikes moving towards them and asmongold just sitting there mouth agape not understanding how people manage to get hit has my sides in orbit

Great episode, the raid looks actually good boss and mechanic wise. The cinematic was a little lackluster but yeah Jailer looks awesome. I am sick of Sylvanas tho - blizz really pulling the redemption arc...
Sylvanas plan was, as She said "i Will set us all free" so She had To do what She did To get jailers trust etc and recover her soul, and then kill the jailer and then all would be free.
I don't get it. You beat the raid, and then you end up losing, in the most amazing way possible? You don't free Anduin, Sylvanas gets turned into a mortal, and the Jailer becomes Thanos. So what was the point of the raid?

@@yokioh6351 eh, I don't know man. The whole story in Shadowlands seems like one calculated stupidity after another, with the champions of Azeroth at the forefront of every disaster so far. I haven't felt inspired at any point in the story yet. And there's been a lot of story.

I'm curious how they'll scale it for mythic. Obviously spikes will be one shots but I don't think they can go much crazier in spike and ball patterns since it will quickly become legit unplayable.
