Hello again Chris. I'm not a huge fan of the band but your enthusiasm shines through and makes me want to refresh my memory. I do recall, when Burn was released that I heard the album played on the radio. I don't know who the 'commentator' was (he may have been English) but I do recall a phrase he used about Sail Away or possibly Mistreated, when he described Blackmore's solo as 'like a starburst'. Always liked the phrase and Blackmore could certainly deliver. Cheers.

Blackmore is easily one of the best ever. Cheers Peter!

I enjoyed this Chris! I certainly agree with you 👍 love Deep Purple! It would be interesting to go through the later albums! Not classics but certainly have their moments! Apart from Banana's? 😂

Bananas. Awful album and cover. Might do the live albums if there’s interest. I generally find videos on one band are not watched very much tbh. Cheers Ian

Hi Chris, another class review and presentation. You really know a fan when there are foreign versions of the albums in the collection. Absolutely love Demon's Eye.

Got all of them from In Rock onwards. Great knowledge Chris...great band but only saw them once. Love Burn, In Rock and Machine Age in that order.

Hi Chris, love the enthusiasm from you, I can tell your a big Deep Purple fanatic. Not really my cup of tea, but saying that, I've never really gave them a chance. Only really heard the more commercial songs from them but a couple of my mates really liked them. I would like to listen to a back catalogue of theirs now I'm a bit older and I'm not as blinkered anymore with listening to just one genre of music. Which era would you recommend I listen to first? Cheers Chris.

70-74 is their best era. Not for everyone but I grew up loving them. Cheers Steven, Chris

Great stuff, I think the first Deep Purple album I bought was Burn which along with Machine Head and In Rock are my favorite Purple albums. Stormbringer was pretty good and Come taste the Band I really liked even without Blackmore. Gettin' Tighter is my favorite. It's really difficult for me to choose two or three songs as their best but here goes... Black Knight is amazing, especially the version on Made in Japan. Highway Star from that album is insane and the title track of Burn, totally mental.
Have you seen the California Jam movie? It was a huge concert in California of course, with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Emerson Lake and Palmer and a few other bands. I'm pretty sure you can watch it on RUclips

I have the old video, the dvd, the cd twice and an Lp bootleg 😂😂.
Made in Japan is easily the greatest live album of all time. Cheers Tim

Liking the choices Chris-I rate A200 from 'Burn' (even if Blackmore did do the solo sitting in the control room in one rather bored take-apparently).

Great presentation Chris. I am also a massive fan of DP and like you started back in the mid 70’s. I am first generation Canadian (British parents) and my uncle in London UK sent me Machine Head for my 13th birthday and my head exploded. I had never heard rock like this. I own roughly 80% of their albums, 100% of the early works up to Come Taste….which is not a fav. Like you I have multiple pressings but the “Anniversary” issues are on cd. The new =1 is ok, some cool tracks, favourite singer for me is Ian, really did not groove to Coverdale. He always ruined live lps with his rammering and his posh London accent didn’t fit. Cheers. 🍻

My favourite band. I have their entire U.K. discography plus shedloads more plus the family tree stuff too 😂. Quite ridiculous!
Coverdale might be alarmed to know someone thinks he has a London accent! He certainly has a strange accent. Cheers,Chris

Hello bud, just want to correct you on a tiny thing. David Coverdale didn't have a posh London accent, he was from Saltburn in Yorkshire, not far from where I come.

Saltburn by way of Lake Tahoe. Very distinctive voice has our Dave

@@TheVinylOrchard Oh I would never guess. Talks like an English lord. Upper west side o’ London or something. 😝. Your video made me play DP’s Live in Paris 75 and Coverdale had pipes for sure. It’s his banter between songs that s most annoying.

I only watched because you put this out. Cant fault your choice of songs. My gripe is the way albums are rehashed to get even more money for the record company. My complaint Gillans voice didn't suit some of the songs although excellent on others.. Favourite track of all time Child in Time.

If you collect one band you are seemingly abused by the record companies. Can’t stop myself with DP. Cheers, chris

Going completely against the grain, when DP In Rock came out, I took the exit door.
That kind of music just wasn't for me. April and Lalena and The Bird Has Flown were for me. (Yes I'm a prog head, ha!)

    • @TheVinylOrchard
      @TheVinylOrchard  2 дня назад

They are certainly the proggy choices. Veronese has different tastes and takes. That’s important. Cheers, Chris
