It's time to expand on the banned list from Part I ( • 10 Lines You Should NE... )!!
These 10, all NEW bass lines will open your doorway to hell and are guaranteed to get you kicked out of your next bass lesson! All your favorites including Tool, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Primus, Symphony X, The Stranglers, RATM, Black Sabbath, and MORE.

Genius episode, dude. Thank you so much for all that effort and inspiration you put into this one. My dad played upright bass and saxophone in little jazz bands around Rensselaer, Indiana in the 1950s to cover what his scholarship didn't. And then he never touched either instrument again for 30 years, until at an impromptu family reunion/wake, he took my electric bass out of my hands, sat in a chair, holding my (then) new Fender upright...and just rattled off all that stuff he was into all those years ago as if he had been practicing for a musical reunion all along. (Very musical family, very few of whom perform anymore.)

I played electric bass when I was a kid, then I got to watch Steve Gilmore at a small jazz club; there was no going back to electric after that. I'd use the electric only if my income depended on it. I studied classical and jazz on the upright practicing 10 to 14 hours a day.
Although I can use a French bow, my 'go to' is a German bow.

Excellently played & a hoot at the same time ! If it were I playing, after the first minute you'd have heard : clackety clack click clack clack, as my fingers fell off & hit the floor ! Peaches would make a great momentary disruption during a classical piece (think they did something like that in one of the old Pink Panther cartoons).

I'm amazed that Death is mentioned anywhere let alone here. And if memory serves it was played on a fretless bass. Great metal band that very few seem to know.
Steve Digiorgio played fretless bass in Death on the Human and Individual Thought Patterns albums. Scott Clendenin played on The Sound of Perseverance (which Spirit Crusher is on) and he did not use a fretless.
@@karlricardo4088 Then my memory does not serve me well. Thank you for the correction. Individual thought patterns and The sound of perseverance are 2 of my favorite albums. I found a cassette tape in a parking lot with those albums recorded on it while delivering pizza. listened to that tape daily for a year before I knew who they were. Then I bought the CD's when I found them.
I have a strict rule to never play any Jaco on upright. Esp. Port of Entry. Not that I couldn't, mind you.

I think the Spirit Crusher line had some merit! It's like atonal jazz fusion. Playing Schism on upright is unforgivable though. Instead of DARE, the 00's should have had a program to stop us from torturing our music teachers with that one
