You say that, but I think like 80% of horror directors are people using it as a jumping pad to try to secure deals for movies with bigger budgets. Peter Jackson is probably the first example that springs to mind.
I like Josh but this is one of my least favorite questions I see come up in director interviews. Feels like it’s just there for clickbait responses, not to get any valuable insight from a filmmaker.
His response to the question is fantastic, he didn't take a shot at the IP or the fans. But simply said that there styles just wouldn't mash well, more folks in the business can learn from Robert Eggers.
It's a very specific niche in many ways and hard for present day filmmakers to capture that Lucasesque vibe, Rogue One was great. Andor Force Awakens and Last Jedi were all worthwhile explorations.
Robert Eggers should do his own thing. and that's primarily period films from what we've seen. I can see him going down as one of the kings of the period piece. but Star Wars No
He probably doesn't want to deal with Disney and especially modern day Lucasfilm. I don't know about Eggers specifically, but a lot more great directors would be interested if these IPs weren't being overseen by controlling hacks.
Why do you youtube interviewers always try to rope in great & pure filmmakers to the MCU or Star Wars. Those movies are NOT the end all be all, they are commercial movies. And because of those movies, hollywood is going down the shitter. Robert Eggers makes cinema, let him make cinema. Stop this bullshit already.

Genuinely shocked that the director of R rated folk horror movies isn't interested in four quadrant franchises.
Whodathunk, eh?

@@thundercheeks1989I think he is ironic.

Why would he ask Mr. Period Horror guy this question? Nothing about him says child friendly or space epic.
Self aware answer & didn’t want to slag off Disnee lmao
These interviewers always seem to think that making a Star Wars film is like the be-all, end-all dream for filmmakers. Believe me, it isn't.
the money would be good though ???

Wait he’s not british?

Robert Eggers would direct a pretty interesting Darth Bane movie.
Why would ANYONE want to deal with Lucasfilm at this point?? If Kathy K. doesn't take a liking to you...
He would be good for Hellboy or Constantine - but I rather he stay away from IP’s - He needs to bring pure Cinema as the culture needs it.
Hellboy has been done too many times.. but Constantine would be perfect
Constantine eggers movie would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’d love to see him do Children of Dune
i don't know, there are witches in the star wars universe now thanks to the acolyte so there is a window
A Robert Eggers Batman film would be fire

why star wars? he’d be great on a batman film.
Nah not batman maybe some dc villain like parasite or scarecrow
What a stupid question to ask Robert Eggers
I mean whoever ist doing the Star Wars stuff now, isnt following the "rules" either.. so.. i dunno ;)
What dumb questions? Why does have everything have to come back to shit Disney tentpole movies?
No one is interested in doing a star Wars movie anymore
Interviewer is a clown 🎉
