In my village , every year during baidakh month one of the book either Ramayan or Mahabharat had to be finished reading . There used to be continuous reading sessions from morning to sunset . Used to be so much fun where we discussed the merits /demerits during dinner .
Excellent discussion about the book. I read C.R's Ramayana. But I intend to buy this one. I feel every person should read it. and assimilate it even from childhood.
Ramayan or Story of Ram was known from childhood/ young age through Dramas on festiv occassions like Ramnavami, Dasara and other festivals by Famous groups of actors used to enact in open area in the night when villagers are free and used to gather almost every year. The story and the essence used to go into the minds of the people. The essence of it was/is 'Dharma', at all times and occassions in real life situations. I saw this is mentioned and applied in solving disputes in villages. I used to watch my father mentioning about 'Dharma', many a times. The quote, 'Dharmo Rakshati Rakshita Ha', is the essence of Ramayan. It is for all of us to see and think where we are?
Your last point CEO of company, compare with politicians of today, if denied a ticket, a post, etc., all the rukus they create, even ready to compromise peace and security of nation. This is the relevance of Ram.
Is Ram Mandir a matter of Religion or is it about Religious Nationalism If it is about religion then fine But if it is about Religious Nationalism then a word of Caution A country like Pakistan can afford to indulge in religious Nationalism because it has just 3,/ 4 Percent minorities But India which has 2 nd largest Muslim population of the world has a large and strong Sikh minority has Christians and Dravidians can ill afford to indulge in religious Nationalism For a country like India Religious Nationalism is not the way to go
