  • Hope you like this old Scottish tune played on Mandolins and Guitar
Sure by Tummel and Loch Rannoch and Lochaber I will go
By heather tracks wi' heaven in their wiles.
If it's thinkin' in your inner heart the braggart's in my step.
You've never smelled the tangle o' the Isles.
The far Coolins are puttin' love on me.
As step I wi' my cromack to the Isles.
It's by Shiel water the track is to the west.
By Aillort and by Morar to the sea.
The cool cresses I am thinkin' of for pluck.
And bracken for a wink on Mother knee.

In Dublin, Ohio every year they have a massive Irish festival that lasts for two or three days with multiple stages and acts from all over the world. I use to go every year in my early thirties, and one year as the festival was winding down many people had already left, but I was hanging around still (not wanting it to be over) and I happened upon a little, no-name group of some old gray-hairs playing a side stage. They didn't have much of an audience left, but they were great!
They played English, Irish, American, and Scottish tunes (much like what you're doing) on mandolins, banjos, mandolas, and guitars. They weren't as technically perfect as many of the acts I had seen at the festival that day, but they really enjoyed what they were doing and you could tell. In fact, I enjoyed it more than any of the louder, flashy bands imported from afar. This stuff's for sharing with your friends over a pint. It shouldn't need to compete with rock music. It's good just like it is.

Hello keelermatt! Thanks for your kind words, we've been to many events like that in Scotland too, groups like the Dubliners and Gaberlunzie, sadly no longer with us. It's good to keep this music alive. All the best Joe, Jim, Damian

I love this tune and usually play it on flute or whistle, but it sounds particulsrly great on mandolins and guitar 🙂🎶👍
