Most likely a rich guy who doesn’t need the money and just wanted a fun experience. Seeing as he’s taking a jog he probably lives nearby.

@@Firedag I had the same idea watching this before I saw him that if I had to try to return them I'd hit it nice and high with backspin because if you hit it flat it will just keep the spin they put and fly off somewhere.

I love how they didn't go easy on the kids so they wouldn't feel patronised, but were very supportive and encouraging, even giving rackets as consolation. And the last kid proved he didn't need no easy serve to win so congrats to him and to to the Pongify guys!
actually that last kid was not a proper receive, ball hit the table before bouncing back to the other side, but they let it go anyways.

@@krisersn3092 Thanks for correcting but I think it happened because many country use currency symbol at the end and naturally they choose to do that.
ex: I have done all math and physics work using Km/hr and now if someone ask me to calculate in miles/hr it becomes difficult to me to visualize the distance.
When I was in USA, I used to keep my Google maps in Km/Hr because that became easier for me to calculate but over a period of year I learned how miles work because my car speedometer was in miles.

As a child I played table tennis with my father once in a while and I still remember how unfair these spin serves felt. Respect to the people getting those 100 dollars, well deserved!
I never got good enough to exactly counter the spin, but I've found I can return just about anything by forcing enough of my own spin in an opposing direction. Works most of the time! Only issue with doing that is it puts you on the defensive for the next salvo.

This seems fun; I don't have any good serves, and I struggle with receiving heavy back spin serves and tomahawk serves. I love the guy that said "Have a round of wine on me tonight", so nice.

Go to a table tennis club near you and watch RUclips clips about it and try it . Cheaper

When I first started playing table tennis seriously, returning serves was definitely one of the hardest things to learn.
10 years later...its still difficult.

Looking at this and his technique, or rather how they failed to stop the ball, I can say, with confidence, I'd be failing to as I have no clue how and I suck at table tennis.

Easy. They'll just topspin serve really hard and it'll bounce out after hitting your vertical side of the table.
Easy Just get a cheap paddle With cheap rubber so it will stop the spin then use the Chinese style Grip then There you go

I played tennis professionally when I was younger and it’s actually really simple to return that serve.
Firstly he is hitting really slowly to start with, and it’s only topspin he is using.
They standing to close to the table to see what the ball is going to do.
It’s either gona spin left or right or stop dead as it hits the table.
Stand back and you can easily follow the ball and hit it back.
And these guys are more trickshot type players. Pro serves like you said are much faster and the rackets players have a side that don't get bothered so much with spin. I wonder what the faces are on what the people are given.
