i need to buy a portabble soldering iron but i have my doubt about this one.. i trust you and your way to make things(i really like your channelS, you and kasyan are my favourite), but that small power must be converted by the st32 and the mosfet to boost the amperage like crazy..in that small space, boh, i'm not an expert, but i'll wait to see if it's good in the long run, and if i can make a bigger uglier(but more powerful) soldering thanks to "someone" idea.. btw great review
Dude it's true that this thing is better with lower power than TS100 because it has better design in tip and maybe better firmware control but you must also show the advantage of the higher power of TS100, for me it's a bad comparison to test it in it's lowest voltage and power available... also keep in mind that there's a chance that may be updraded tips and firmware for the TS100 too in the future, and connector is not really a problem...
JimiDJ Original, you mentioned that connector is not a problem. What do you mean by that? I am looking for information on how to power TS80 from the 3S lipo battery. I have found so far, that this should not be a problem, just need an adaptor XT60 to USB-A and make sure to use 12v battery. But this is just a theory without a real test. I hope someone can support this opinion :)
I meant the connector for the tips of the TS100, they could still make same better quality tips for it, though i must say i owned a TS100 some weeks later after this video, the upgraded version which came with a TS-I and and TS-BC2 inside, and also i ordered extra a TS-KU and a TS-C4 after Louis Rossmann recommendation, i am very pleased with all the tips excect the TS-KU, i thought it would be great for THT and high power cables soldering but it's not... so i stuck with the TS-I instead. The original TS-80 tip looks like a heavy duty JBC tip i have seen, which have extreme thermal mass, thats why TS-80 outperforms the TS-100 even with lower power rating (at least in this particular comparison in this video).
You can still power this from a LIPO if you want to get this for Quadcopters. You just need a Lipo to USB QC 3.0 adapter --- They are like $9 on Banggood.
Avolate FPV, hi! Thank you for this piece of info! Also, as far as I understand, if you use 3s lipo, yo dont need that adapter. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, could you please post a link to that adapter? Thanks!
@@vasiliyklx450r You will need the adapter to get the XT60 to plug into the USB cable. The adapter also regulates the voltage: www.banggood.com/AOKoda-Lipo-to-USB-Power-Converter-QC3_0-Adapter-Quick-Charger-for-Smartphone-Tablet-PC-p-1179963.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN
My TS-100 get to 300°C in 9 seconds with a 19V ThinkPad power supply. I like the easy plug in mechanism of the TS-80 but i think the power connector and the max voltage of 9V gives you less options than the TS-100.
It's faster because the TS80 is 18 W at 9 V, and the TS100 at is 17 W at 12 V. He supplied the TS100 with 11 V, so it's less powerful with that voltage. However, I'd say the TS80 has also improved PID control or something like that, because it's much faster. Still, at 65 W at 24 V, the TS100 wins.
I cant decide on ts80 vs ts100 its primarly going to be used for drone repair so ill always have a 26v max lipo on me. With the ts80 ill have to have a xt60 to usb3.0 on me and the ts100 i can just plug in. I wish he compaired them with the ts100 powered via 24-26v... but im sure a youtube will pop up.
excelente man... muy hermosos ese soldador si llego a comprar uno seria ese o solo el soldador JBC y hacer mi propia estación como lo has echo tu .. saludos..
Do we have a winner though between this and the TS100? I've seen a few videos that suggest the 80 is better in practise, even though the 100 is better on paper.
The ergonomics do it for me. The 80 is far more practical. And I can use mine with my cellphone charger and lead. I've got an abundance of leads. I also use my power bank. On the 100 you need the right lead that you might not always have.
If you ever do a giveaway, please please keep me in mind! I'd love a ts80! Here's a funny story. I ordered a cheap $10 vape pen a few years back, and what was delivered? A ts100! I was so upset because I had no idea what it was......honestly I thought it was the wrong vape pen lol Anyway, I contacted the seller and he told me it was a mistake but to just keep it(I had no idea it was like $80 at the time). It sat in a box for months until I finally tried using it and I fell in love! I do so much soldering now, but sadly it died on me.. The chip kept coming loose on the inside and after opening and closing it so many times, the thin plastic cover broke off.......and I lost the chip somewhere. I loved the ts100 so much! No other soldering iron I've ever used comes close. If you ever want to give one away I'd happily pay for shipping or buy it at a lower lost! Unfortunately I just don't make a ton of money to replace mine. #DiapersBeforeManTools😔
What did you use to make your channel's intro and the outro? And for editing the video? I want to relaunch my channel, and I want to do it professionally, so I'd like to hear some feedback from someone with a cool intro and outro.

Thank you so much!
did you design your portable soldering iron based on these irons?
If I had not already bought a TS100. This may have been on my shopping list.
But for the moment. I'll have to live with the TS100.
LOVE that little thing. Hard to argue with a portable solder iron with that kind of power and light weight. Appreciate the video bud. **Peace**

Awesome soldering iron, dude. 😀
I just received the TS100 from Gearbest for review and it's fantastic! More than enough for me. 😊
Waiting for your review! Keep up!
How do you find the ergonomics?
Nice! Now the comparison side by side TS80 vs TS100 :/
I dont think they should have changed the power socket, the 3.5 jack was able to rotate but now it cant so puts extra strain on the wire
Bob Wareham No problem with strain, It’s a very flexible wire.
The DC barrel doesn’t rotate either, so no difference.

Nice demonstration, I think t80 was fester than t100 because t80 used st32 microcontroller.so please your next project made to st32 soldering iron.

Looking good! What gauge was the wire that you tinned in the test?

Pretty sure “Power 24” is 24V not 24W since it can go up to 24 volts ...
No, it could go up to 24W. Maybe 12V and 2Amp! Keep up!

True. I was thinking of the ts100 12-24v
Thanks for your review!
very nice, but no one has any tips for it? has anyone managed to get replacement tips?

Very good
So you can use this with battery pack or plug in to the wall outlet?
Anything that outputs QC 3.0

Please excuse my dumb question, but what is Slptime?
Sleep time. When you don't use it for some time it will get int sleep mode!
Please make arduino oscilloscope 😍
AHMAD just buy the dso150 the arduino one would be took weak
TS80 has better ports than a 1000$ Iphone 😐... USB C and 3.5MM HEADPHONE JACK
nice >make 3d printer pls

Can you please give me a Drone
no
fuck off go earn some money and buy one
