I have ADD and have bounced job to job my whole life. I was disciplined enough to have a successful 3 year stint in the Army.
That said, I haven't always had that discipline with every facet of my life.
Yet I've been married for 16 years and loyal to my Wife and kids every step of the way. Loyal to parents. Loyal to old friends and always genuinely happy for pretty much anyone's success.
Discipline with hobbies or jobs and loyalty are not tied together.
Not being disciplined is a symptom of mental disorders. I have bipolar and it’s difficult to stay disciplined.
Real strength comes from knowing what you want in life, going after it and letting everything else fall into place

Going through a divorce, lying and just giving up man. Its very bad. I have no self discipline right now and everything is going to the wayside. I screwed up big time and I am paying the price.
I feel fake as well and I've become a loser to myself. I am considering rehab just to escape but thats all it will be if I do not discipline myself. An escape.
I had to confess all of that. I need to change myself and how I m thinking. I have a pastor who is going to bat for me right now and I really need to lean into him and my faith. God is protecting me throughout this all and that is the only reason i am not dead or in jail.

Thank you all for the honesty and blunt replies. Today I am almost 1 week sober. No boos, no drugs and not even cigarettes but I am vaping lol but that's soon to be gone. I am in a men's group every Saturday and go to church on Sunday and bible study on Wednesday. My marriage is still on the rough edges but my sobriety is helping weather the storm. Things are still rough but I can make it through Jesus Christ my Savior I am going to fight tooth and nail.

People tend not to like me because I openly call people out on their bs and hypocrisies. I’ll admit to all my own faults and flaws and actually work on them. Im honest about my thoughts and feelings. I take accountability and responsibility for my actions. People dont like that they have shit to hide and I dont. What can you use against me if I wear it on my sleeve. I have 3 close people to me. My wife and 2 best friends of over 15 years. We got tired of the knuckle heads. We’re the “outcasts” but a some of the only few who have their shit together. We dont have time for drama and bs. Say it how it is, be honest, work hard, stick by your morals and principles, and don’t compromise yourself for anyone. Im on my path. I’ve lost so many people and I couldn’t be happier. At this point I have the people important to me who are on my level and good people with a strong mindset. I’m 30 and so far ahead of most people I grew up with. Married, about to buy my first home, and gonna start a family. To me, I’m successful, I made it. This is what success means to me. The rest is just a bonus. Back when I was with the other people, I was homeless, poor af, struggling. Somehow in 16 years, despite being far worse off, I busted my ass and rocketed past their asses. Now they hate me lmao cause I was the poor goth kid, now I’m doing well and they dont like it because they used to be “on top.” They aren’t even relevant to me, but people back home tell the the trash talk about and I haven’t been in that state in almost 5 years. Why am I even relevant to them? Im over 1,000 miles away and haven’t seen em in almost a decade. They see we have cars, a house, a great marriage, they hate that I own guns and shit and they cant. Like okay, get your shit together and go get it all for yourself. If I can do it, you sure as hell can. I dont even have family. So it’s possible, they’re just not trying. I’ve never been jealous or envious. When I see people doing well or have things I want in my life, I think “Right on dude, how can I make that happen for myself and my family?“ and I get to it. I make it happen some way some how. I run on sheer will power and determination. And I’m late Diagnosis Autistic. Seriously, if I can do this, you can too. Your statement "as you become more real, everything else exposes itself more over time" hits the nail on the head. Where you're at in life will (over time) repel those who aren't where you're at in life. Unless they truly want to better themselves but that's rare over the long term - especially as we get older we become more engrained in our behaviors (good or bad).
Understand my guy ,People are around you to take your energy and resources this is why having a lot of friends is the easiest way to get screwed.
If you ever noticed when it comes to hanging out with certain people they always have an excuse or want you to go out of your way for them.
I don't talk to people who have habitual car issues or money issues those are the one's that love to take and will never be on their purpose.

I have always been able to see through peoples fake bullshit. One of the reasons I’m not super close with more then a few people is because I can sense when someone is being fake and it bugs the hell out of me.

Things were changing before COVID, but after COVID it looks like the whole world has gone nuts, especially the younger generations. I’ll be 59 in 2 weeks, I thank God I was blessed to live my teens, twenties and thirties is the 70s, 80s and 90s. The 70s and 80s were AWESOME. I feel so sad for young people now days

It's a very lonely world. People won't take their eyes of their cell phones long enough to look someone in the eyes. Next time you're in a restaurant, look around at the families sitting together, not visiting, because they're in a zone, with their face in their phone. It's a sad, sad world today.
