It's not about going for a launcher but rather knowing when your launcher is a viable response. King's launchers rarely seem like offensive tools so by and large you'll be using them to respond to a situation where there's an opening, not using them to create one. As a Mishima player my main launcher can be used to create offense as well as punish mistakes because even if it's blocked it gives me frame advantage. It's still usually better as a whiff punisher but it's also got utility in pushing on an opponent (especially near a wall).
