Around 1986, my trio was playing at the Holiday Inn in Middleburg Heights, OH. One night on a break, an older gent walked up to our guitar player, who had recently installed Sperzel tuners on his Strat, and asked him, "What kind of tuners are those?" The guitar player replied, "These are Sperzel tuners (mispronouncing it as Sper-zell, which at the time we thought was the proper pronunciation). The man replied, "well it's pronounced "Sper-zul" and I'm Bob Sperzel! Needless to say we were quite surprised!
Long ago I bought my first set of Sperzels, back then I think he was still making them in his basement...I liked them so much almost all guitars have Sperzels, great product and he was such a cool guy...
I enjoyed the hell out of this video as a modest machinist and long time home guitar plunker and fellow Ohioan I have grinned nodded my head and agreed with the engineering and brilliance of a seemingly simple part all I know is I’m sold on these my one schecter has the Grovers and the string post on all of them is so sloppy it’s embarrassing my newer 7 string has the schecter brand locking tuners and so far not as much post wobble but they seem to back off tension quickly I’ll be thrilled and excited to have a great product from my home state wish I would of learned these things years ago
I love how the spec sheets of Sperzel tell you all the tolerances, in automotive that's why I buy Beck Arnley they show you every mesurement on Break Calipers and rotors . other companies are trying to mix and match Pads calipers shoes and drums , nothing every lines up and has to be modified . Bob Spercel knows his shit
Chaz Michael no..i called back and they kinda gave me the run around.. maybe i should try again. I'm working on updating my youtube channel in the mean time though. Lot more work than i thought.

I met him a few years ago at Donauschwaben Oktoberfest. He was cool. He told me to bring my SG in to his factory to try his tuners.
Love his voice. I could hear him talk all day.

I have sperzels for years on my strat, now i understand why they are so good!
They are nice. Sometimes Sperzels are used on custom built guitars that cost thousands of dollars.
Absolutely/Best Tuners !🥰
Been using Sperzel lockers for over 20 years. These are the absolute finest tuners ever made. Zero problems whatsoever. Tom
