- Welcome to my thorough 40 minute special kotlc video! The Keeper of the Lost Cities (KotLC) series is an adventurous fantasy series following Sophie, a strong and braze girl who is ready to embrace change, pack up her things, and venture into a whole new world filled with elves, crystals, and dark conspiracies. In the action packed kotlc series, Sophie must navigate her new Elvin world, relearn everything she has ever known, and attempt to fit in with the other elves. But her societal struggles seem minuscule when she starts discovering secrets about her past, and evil organizations attempt to kill her for what she's hiding.
This is by far my favorite fantasy series and today I finally have my keeper of the lost cities book series review for you guys! I really hope you guys enjoy my deep dive through the kotlc books! Hello Troy! A few months ago, I realized something about Tam and Linh’s names. There’s this old Scottish Ballad called the Ballad of Tamlin, and I’m pretty sure Shannon named Tam and Linh after it, especially because Tam and Linh’s family has a musical background. Also, I have another question for you: What season of the Office are you on? Me and my sisters love The Office so much that we’ve been rewatching it for ages! As much as I don’t like the main characters suffering I completely agree that the best scene in Keeper of the Lost Cities (book one) was the kidnapping, since it was the climax of the story and the suspense was so real!!! I was also SOOO shocked when I read that the kidnappers weren’t the Black Swan and that the black swan were actually the good guys!! It was such a great plot twist that set the entire series into motion
honestly it feels so nice to see that these books get attention because this series is soooo underrrated

Wow, this is a long one. Keeper of the Lost Cities is, too, one of my favorite series.
One question, as a My Little Pony fanatic, are there Pegasi, horses with wings? I don’t know, that’s something I always wondered.
I do not remember what happens in Everblaze. Like, there are about 4 main things I remember about it. But it was a good book. It was kind of like a “What happened in the past” book. My mom was reading Exile and she was like “Keefe’s dad isn’t bad, right?” And I said “no” and she was like “okay, cool,” but I feel really bad because technically, I wasn’t lying, but it was still kinda sorta lying. Also, Fitz was very mean in Exile. I kinda forgive him, but I will never forget.
The beginning of Neverseen when they went around Italy was amazing and I love rereading just that bit. Alluveture or however it’s spelled is, I agree, the best setting of KotLC. If there was a person who was not sad when Calla died, then they most likely have no feelings. Whenever I start a conversation with a friend about KotLC and they haven’t gotten to Neverseen, I will ramble about Tam and Linh and I need to remember that they have no idea who they are
The scene with the mirror in Lodestar was probably my favorite, mostly because it’s just stands out a lot. Also, the ending, I thought was really clever. The way Keefe phrased it and stuff was really interesting to me.
Nightfall was really cool too. Actually, all of them are cool. I feel like people say Nightfall ending made them cry, and it kinda did for me, but not really. Nightfall kiss was something that will stay with me forever. I’m glad they sorted through and I really think they have a better friendship because of it. Also, Nightfall was the one that really wrecked my sleep schedule. I would read for an hour before bed, then read for an hour in the morning
I think Flashback is kinda low on my list. They were in the Healing Center for so. Long. Fitz stuck in the chandelier was amazing. I think the end of Flashback was probably the best ending in the series, in my opinion.
I love team Valiant! It inter grated some of the characters that we don’t know as much about. I want to see the Biscuit war so badly. It was so hard to not verbally yell at Fitz when they broke up. I mean, I do appreciate that last scene in the end where they wrapped up Sophitz in a nice little bow and tucked it away where, hopefully, it will not be unwrapped. That was a weird comparison. And a very long comment. Wow. Great video!

I am so glad you are also a big KotLC Fan! I don't really understand your question about the Pegasi haha, but thanks so much for sharing all your thoughts on the KotLC series! Everblaze was a weird book in that I never really remember anything about it, so I get what you mean. Neversen was just an all around amazing book and I know the Italy adventure was pure entertainment and fun, and set off the book on a great start! Wait I am forgetting how the nightfall ending was sad, like how would it make someone cry? I am confusedddd haha! But the nightfall kiss was definitely something unexpected, you're right! And I totally forgot to talk about that in the review! The Healing Center plot was definitely slow and I really wish it took up only 100 or 150 pages instead of 300 or 350, I can't remember but yeah! Team Valiant really did bring back a lot of the under appreciated characters which was great! And that's actually a great comparison haha with the bow! It's been a really busy week for me, so sorry I'm late 😖😖😭
I also really love how Shannon Messenger created these very unique and awesome characters! I really really love the alicorn parts where it talks about Silveny, it's the best! In Everblaze I was really annoyed about the councilors and them wanting Sophie to heal Fintan :/ it was a really horrible and bad decision which caused a lot of danger to the elvin *and* human world. YESSSSS NEVERSEEN! MY FAVORITE!!! I loved when they introduced Tam and Linh, and how Linh flooded Ravalog ( sorry my spelling 😅). I was sad though when Calla became a tree but I felt exactly how you felt too ;)! I love lodestar too, it gave Tam a spotlight in the book too which made me love the book more! ( but let's not forget about Keefe! :))) I also cried when Mr. Forkle died it was sooo saaaad 😭😭😭
Nightfall was an awesome introduction too! It talked about Sophie's before life which I really loved, and how Amy and Sophie bonded 😊
I love flashback too (like every book) it talked about the Elvin world more which was very entertaining to me 😉 AND FINALLY Legacyyy! Yes I love that book it's GREAAT! I wish there was more sokeefe parts tho... But overall it was a really good book 😄

I agree with you about Everblaze, and I remember mentioning that there began a shift with the councillors that turned them more negative in that book. YES LODESTAR WAS TAM AND KEEFE'S TIME TO SHINE!!! Mr Forkleeeeee noooooooo. Like even though he had a twin it's still painful to read every time! And I actually loved the Sokeefe amount in Legacy, well for me I count the negative Sophitz scenes as Sokeefe scene so like their fights and their break up and stuff was all towards the soKeefe side and I loved it! I get that to a certain point but there are villains in every story. JK Rowling didn’t create antagonistic groups 😂

YASS THE SOKEEFE MOMENT! Ahh the Alden glory days. KENRICS DEATH DUDE!! I always hated some parts of the council. They are “stuffy nobles”. Gisela’s arc. Neverseen is my 2nd fave. Aluveterre was awesome. PERIODT. Keefe had a lot of character development. CALLA WAS AMAZING. Har har har Troy. Magnate Leto. Oo like how you said telepathic. Forkles death was the WORST. Nightfall is the fave. I loved the darkness. Shannon is the QUEEN of plot twists. YESSSS UNLOCKED. My hope for Sokeefe. Amy was great. Wut do you mean I loved that part. You're right, two characters that I thought fell flat were Dex and Sophie, like they have the least personality. Silveny is an Alicorn QUEEN I am telling you haha! Hey, hey, hey! I hope you are doing well! If I remember correctly you haven't read the keeper of the lost cities series yet, so just make sure that if you plan to read the series in the future you skip to the end when I tell you so you don't get spoiled! Anyway hope you are doing well! :)
KOTLC is a great story-but there are obviously flaws. I agree that Flashback was quite boring when we were stuck in the same setting for 300 pages.
Yeah that was one of the only times during this series that I had to SUFFER through pages
idk about you guys, but the forced romance on sophie that im seeing so far, about seven chapters into the book, is really throwing me off. personally, i prefer the world to be built first before any romance, but we see sophie being so attracted to Fitz at the first time she knew him. idk, it just makes me want to stop reading. the plot sounds incredibly interesting but i cannot with the romance. plus, im not accusing anything, i also thing the romance subplot being put this early on, onto a 12 year old kid just a little weird to me.
im open to civil discussions! i dont know if im missing anything here...
