    I grew up in Carlsbad and this was one of the best RUclips videos I’ve seen about it.

      Thanks for watching! We're so glad you enjoyed the video, as much as we enjoyed our time in Carlsbad.

    Enjoyed your perspective on a town I've always loved. It was a motorcycle destination for me for years. We took our kayaks up the Pecos for Christmas on the Pecos for several years also. You didn't hit it all, but what you did cover, you covered well. Noble people there and having been raised 100 miles away and returning for 3 decades, everything about the place was positive and a beautiful spot among my memories. We live in the Rockies now, but that desert gem is still wonderful .

      Thanks for watching! You're absolutely right, there's so much to see and do there. As the NPS does not allow us to share video shot in a National Park, we weren't able to include the Caverns, but we did go there and enjoyed it. It is a great area.

    If you're ever in Carlsbad again, we have a bike route that follows the canal. If you like cycling, its the best way to get across town on two wheels. Also the best food in town comes from Sno to Go, Church St grill, or Dari Lea. Dont waste the money on the bigger places

      Thanks so much for the recommendations - we'll definitely keep those in mind for our next pass through Carlsbad. We loved the time we had in New Mexico, and it's definitely an area we want to return to.

      @BenBon22 that's a shame - it was terrific. We were just talking a few days ago about wanting to go there again on our next visit. Thanks for watching and letting us know.

    It's Mars, with some scrubby green bushes on it.

      @@BillySBC thanks for watching. As an east-coaster most my life, I used to feel the same way when visiting the southwestern states. But I have to say, after hiking and exploring that area, I have really fallen in love with it. It has really surprised me, but I look forward to spending more time in the southwestern states in the future.

      @@FollowTheMoon It's... it's... it's Mars with a little more gravity. That's the consensus.

      @BillySBC and that is why there is so much variety in our Country - beautiful places no matter what you prefer.

    Where is the Carlsbad sign?

    • @FollowTheMoon
      @FollowTheMoon  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's just south of town in front of the airport on National Parks Hwy/62/180. On Google Maps, you'll find it as "Carlsbad Army Airfield WWII" at 1505 Terminal Dr. Thanks for watching!

    Fun fact the pecos river is the only river in the world that crosses itself. Im happy you both enjoyed my home town. Come again soon. We have a thing called Christmas on the pecos.

      Thanks for the info! We didn't know about the Pecos crossing itself - and the Christmas celebration sounds like a lot of fun! We appreciate the info, and thanks for watching!

    Why did you not go to the caverns

    • @FollowTheMoon
      @FollowTheMoon  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately, we did go to the Caverns (and loved it!) but current National Park Service regulations do not allow us to post videos filmed on NPS land onto RUclips unless a commercial video application is filed (normally around $200.), give specific details of what, where and when you will be recording, wait up to 10 days for approval, and if approved, pay an additional permit fee. When we make less than $20. on average on our videos, it just doesn't make financial sense to present these videos. We have visited 8 National Parks so far this year, and looking forward to a time when the NPS regulations change (both the House and Senate are considering making those changes with bipartisan support) and we can continue to be free to bring you the content you are asking for.
