Dream car. $140k aint cheap but it outperforms many supercars at least in a straight line. In the midwest we dont have too many epic canyon/mountain roads, so a speedy grand tourer with awd would be perfect.
If you're in this market, price is NOT going to be the deciding factor. I will take the M8 over the 850 any time. This is a fantastic car, the pride of my personal fleet, but them I'm not a 10 year old that buys a car because of a loud exhaust.
Most of them that comment against it do so because it’s out of range for most. It isn’t a car for the masses. I am waiting for mine and love to see how many people keep talking it down because it’s “too smooth “. That’s exactly what I like about it - powerful; yet, super classy. Mine is Aventurine Red with Silverstone. Should get it in about 10-14 days. 🙂🙂🙂
I agree with you charlie, I would have the 850i as it is 95% there and I save some bucks. If I had more money. I would go for the Alpina B8. As it is more luxurious but also fast af.
850i is not 95% m8 for sure. I own an m850 and I test drived an m8, it's night and day bro. I can feel the extra power and extra brake power immediately once i do a start and stop in an intersection. The steering wheel is also way more pricise and heavy then m850i. I would say m850i is 70% m8, so regret for not getting an m8 at that time.
And i can't feel anything like the "artifical feeling" of the steering wheel from the m8, no idea what he's talking about, the steering is just super solid
Honestly just buy a m850. You can buy one with some warranty left under the price of a fully optioned new m340, and it offers plenty for public road. It’s a GT car after all, I can’t imagine more than a handful of people buy a M8 to track it.
BMW M needs to go back to more raucous engines and i think they also need to consider bringing back dual clutch transmissions. i have 2 ZF8 BMWs, its a great transmission but its more about smoothness than excitement.
I have the m8 Gran Coupe which I believe has similar if not the same ground clearance. 98% of the time the ground clearance is ample (such as not having to zig on speed bumps), however the lower plastic fender gets scratched to hell exiting and entering private drives.
oh really? The entrance to my garage is somewhat pronounced and it is precisely this lip that worries me, is it fixed or does it move forwards and backwards so as not to break?
It’s at a lower cost in the US because it’s their largest market. They make the difference in volume. The US specs model has less power and torque than the European version. The US model also has more standard features than the EU version of it.
Being that I lived in Germany for many years - go ahead and ask the same question to most Germans and more than 7 out of 10 will hands down pick the M8. In Germany you get to see Mercedes dump trucks, ambulances, buses, farm equipment, and utility vehicles. At the same time BMW only builds great handling cars and very desirable motorcycles.
Because at that market bracket you aren’t looking for a $100k M4 bargain. It is a matter of being in the proper market bracket - to buy the M8 “only” because it isn’t as expensive is ti settle. To spend $100k to settle seems a bit counterproductive.

Agreed! this is a BOSS car, not on some Boy racer junk! this nitpicking here is silly, not strong! I too will be getting one for myself! peace!

I am perfectly content with my 840i with a stage one tune. Got the b58 and it sounds great and is fast enough for me!
That b58 is a gem. Top 3 BMW motors for sure.

Very nice review!

This vs Alpina B8 drag race - please

how is the ground clearance for a daily drive?

00:50 ❤❤❤
i wanna see more of that mazda 👀
Is that price real? In Europe , fully loaded M8 is 205k euro it's 227k usd. Tax included.

Charlie, if you had the choice, and money didn't matter, which would you choose? The BMW M8 Comp Gran Coupe or the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S?
Mercedes every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Although I like the look of the BMW better.

@@t3drill I really like the M8. I also like the innovation from BMW.
I GUESS YOU HAVE TO PAY EVEN MORE EXTRA TO GET THAT 5O ANNIVERSARY BADGE ON THE STEERING WHEEL
The interior is nicer but why not just get an M4 and save some money?
V8. Plus the M4 is still hideous. But at least you can get a manual in the M4.

um... there are no offerings from AMG 😭
How has it got smaller rear seats than the M2 while M8 is 4 times larger? Math don't check out.
I have one and have no complaints. If you don’t like the car why do a video on it?
