      I remember driving past the salt flats somewhere between El Paso and Van Horn. Oh the fond memories of driving across Texas whenever my Father got new orders to another Army Post! Sometimes it still seems crazy El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than driving east until you leave the state of Texas. Houston is almost as far away from El Paso as is Los Angeles. However, back in the 1970's it seemed like it took forever to leave Texas when we moved to Florida.

Three things we learn in Asia, if looks like river don't drive in to it. If it's raining hard enough, chances are the water will be overflowing. Lastly, if you don't need to go out during a storm, stay freak home and bing watch tv. Same logic applies here in the PNW as well.

    This is West Texas, where the average rainfall is 19 in (49.3 cm) a year. This amount of rain is way more than normal. This happened in the span of an hour yesterday. They didn't willing drive into it so much as they couldn't see it, with how heavy the rain was. And though it may not look like it, this road they're driving on is a major highway. It connects the bigger cities together with tiny towns and fields spread out around them. To not use this road means an extra hour or two of drive time using back roads to get around. Thats if they're not flooded

      "Climate Change" is a phrase with several meanings. When people say "they don't believe in climate change" what they are really saying is "I don't believe that humans have a significant impact on the rate of natural changes in the climate". Obviously that is a lot to try and say so it was simplified to "climate change". No rational person doubts that the Earths climate has been changing since the atmosphere first formed billions of years ago. What is debatable is "IF" and "HOW MUCH" human activity has impacted the rate of that change.
      The Earth has been hotter than it is now at least 4 times in its history hundreds millions of years before humans existed. Clearly we did not cause those other heat increases. Scientifically speaking the Earth is still coming out of the last Ice age. There were similar sudden increases in global temperature both 13,000 and 17,000 year ago. Obviously human industrial activities were not responsible for these.
      So while any rational person will agree that the climate does change, and even that human activities must have some impact, the question remains if that impact is substantial, or insignificant. Personally I believe that humans are having a significant impact on the rate at which the climate is changing. However this is inevitable. We can't stop it from happening because we can't control people all over the world to that degree. I also believe that based on study of Earths entire history the climate was going to continue a warming trend for the next few thousand years and at most we are just accelerating this, not necessarily making it any worse. Even this may scientist agree on but is impossible to "prove" meaning that it may very well be an incorrect conclusion based on variables we are not properly considering.

    • @stevenkimdmd
      @stevenkimdmd Год назад

      @@K162KingPin So many words with very little fact. Of course, when we say "climate change", we are referring to global change in climate due to pollution caused by humans. And we already have scientific evidence how much change humans have contributed. You are just conveniently choosing to ignore it. Do your homework, listen to scientists and not politicians. Follow the data, and not the money.

    A flood can happen faster than you think. You genuinely might not be able to tell if the water is 2inches or 2feet deep. At night, in headlights, it may just look like a sheen of water on the road. If the person in front stops or stalls, you may be boxed in by other vehicles. Just because my vehicle can make it through, doesn't mean you can. (But at least you might gauge the depth, so let me by) There was a country stretch where I grew up that commonly flooded. It made the road appear flat even though there was a dip filled with water. If you didn't know the road/weren't really aware, people drove straight in. Just because you can mentally connect the points where the road should be, doesn't mean it's still there! The foundation may be completely washed away leaving a muddy chasm.

      Scientist warned us in the mid 1970s how exhaust from engines, propellants in aerosol sprays, the greenhouse effect and depletion of the Ozone would have a greenhouse effect/climate change age. Some took action by removing lead from gasoline, floracarbons from aerosol sprays sparking the "roll on" deodorant era, now new Ozone safe propellants have emerged. Unfortunately factories worldwide, refineries, incinerated toxic materials, dumping waste matter in the oceans, etc. Even now a lead-free gasoline car, just one, emits 3 - 4 tons of CO² into the atmosphere yearly. That's one car! Multiple that by the number of cars globally. Oh, we were warned 50 years ago about climate change, but profit was, is more important. The same greenhouse effect has been happening over the past billion years on Venus. It's gas emissions depleted its radiation blocking atmosphere and have made Venus hotter than Mercury. We're next.

    Texas. Having lived in Texas for a few years and being native of Pennsylvania, the speed limit on most of the highways is 80 mph. Which is good because if the speed limit was 65 mph, it would take forever to traverse Texas. The main problem with Texas drivers, during an extreme weather event still want to go 80! I lived in the "pan handle" part of Texas, northern Texas where it snows about 3 - 4 times in the winter. You'd think since this happens every winter you'd drive to the weather conditions, not in Texas. Every snow event there are hundreds of car accidents from driving too fast. It's like the heat of the summers fries their brains, especially the common sense sector. All these driver's caught in a flood, the road probably was already flooded and they tried to drive through it anyway, at high speed. This stuff is not surprising to me. Loco en la cabeza! 🤯

      You'd still ruin your car's electrical systems. Water past the door will still get in and ruin your carpet. Unfortunately the best thing to do is just avoid it at all costs. Even if it means adding a lot of time to your journey

    Florida can take on 20 inches before flooding, but Texas is drowning in 5 💀💀

    • @K162KingPin
      @K162KingPin Год назад

      West Texas is primarily made of rock. That's why so few people live there and why so few people are affected by flooding. Florida is made primarily out of sand. Guess which one absorbed more water. Take your time, think it through. Most of Florida will also be under water withing the next 50 years due to raising sea levels as most of Florida is barely above sea level. Only about 3% of Texas will be affected.

    1. If it looks like a River, it’s a River.
    2. If your road looks like a River, it’s a River.
    3. Unless your car is a boat, it doesn’t belong in the river.

      If you Google United State Geological Survey you can find several elevation data maps in total 3d. Some are even already color coder for water, dirt etc.

      Prayer and thoughts do not help when this flood could have been prevented by building the infrastructure instead of politicians embezzling taxpayer money while brainwashed Texans stupidly follow superstitions. Being skeptical to science is killing Texans.
