Yeah, he's a big mofo. I think the rest of the CERT team is just a formality. He could probably handle all the cell extractions single-handedly if he was so inclined.
Nice gear. Hi from an Aussie CERT operator. In my jurisdiction we don't use chemical agents nearly as much but that is changing as prisoners become steadily more violent.
@@DumLad I like their pepperball system. It looks good. Tasers, nah I don't see as much value in a taser operationally. They are an expensive piece of kit, and the bean counters get upset when I use my MK9, let alone the thought of me breaking a taser
UK prisons need to update their stuff America is so prepared with pepper balls, tasers and stun shields and restraints in the UK our staff only have batons and handcuffs
Great piece. I understand they were simulations for training but it all felt very real. My company makes and sells the Wolfhound-PRO cell phone detector (around 2:30) shown and I can attest to the fact that cell phones have become one of the most dangerous contraband items for the safety of everyone inside and even outside of the prison walls.
This is a video that I made with Ryan Felton. We went to the jail and had an interesting day following around CERT. Special thanks to Captain Henkel, CERT, and Sheriff Babb.
3:58 That restraint system is known as the W.R.A.P. Pretty badass restraint system that takes less than 4 minutes to deploy. Usually a jail/prison will have a restraint chair of some sort, but every state has laws regarding how frequently you have to offer the inmate care and ROM (range of motion). In Texas it is every 2 hours. This means that every 2 hours you must take that inmate out of the chair and let them move around a bit. This can be dangerous to staff as well as the inmate. The W.R.A.P. allows the inmate to be placed in a 2-piece harness that does not have to be removed to allow the inmate to move, walk and use the restroom. All of this can be done without letting the inmate out of the restraints. Its actually pretty fucking comfortable and that strap you see in the video connecting the feet to the chest holds your upper body up, so you are sitting on the floor without even trying. To make it even more comfy, the restraint has a flaw. If you roll over on your side, some inmates are small enough that they can bang their head against the floor. To solve this problem, the W.R.A.P. comes with a large black mesh rolling bed that sort of looks like a rolling hammock. You set the inmate inside, secure the handcuffs to the slot near the butt and presto! One comfy and slightly pissed off inmate. Love deploying that thing every once in a while!
For some autistic people I think that this W.R.A.P. Restraint System would be a very helpful thing to calm them down during a melt down! I have heard from an autistic woman who says she likes to be in a thing which is pressing on her whole body during her melt down times she has and I think that this thing would be great for her in such a situation! I have seen this W.R.A.P. Restraint System in an other video here in RUclips and I find it absolutely gorgeous and amazing in such cases if an inmate doesn't comply to the orders of the Correctional Officers and I think it is very effective in such cases! I wished I could have more information about it from you about it and your own experience of using it! I love Correctional Officers and Law Enforcement Officers and I find them all together gorgeous and amazing and absolutely fascinating and astonishing 😍😍😍😍😍 Lovely greetings from Sarah and have a wonderful day and stay safe out there and take care of you all the time and may God bless you, Amen 🙋💖🙏🙋💖🙏🙋💖🙏🙋💖🙏🙋💖🙏
Remember a while back where an inmate was on some kind of drug and they called the cert team. Nothing they tried worked and they realized it was too dangerous as he threw them like sacks of potatoes. 😮 The inmate broke the food trap right off the door and ended up shattering his ankle in the process. He didn't even notice. Was extremely scary.😮😮😮
We do not do this all the time. The public gets the wrong idea with these videos. I don't want to take away from this video. After 15 years in corrections I would like to see a video that connects us brothers and sisters in our day to day and how it effects our family. The mind of a CO is always in need of healing.
Legitimate question, not passing judgement on any of you guys, how bothered were you by the use of a cert team in front of the White House? I've been digging and researching tactics and that appears to be what happened, and maybe you could even shed light on the tactics used. I've never seen peaceful protesters moved in that way.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, not sure if that was an actual model inmate that volunteered to take part in the demonstration or if it was a CO acting as an inmate.
Some county jails in ga have these teams. But it's a state thing. CERT means critical emergency response team. Its 5 of them and they are not social. They are called when an inmatecbecomes too much for a co to handle or any violent situation or one involving contraband. They have also killed men by beatings.
If that was a CO acting as an inmate then yeah I agree, unless it was an actual inmate who volunteered to be a part of the demonstration since I've seen similar videos that had actual inmates take part in.
It depends how strong they are. Cell extraction isn't the same as squaring up and fighting. You have a big, strong guy with a shield he can move you hard and pin you. This is for the big linemen type guys. You know, big and strong, pretty fast for their size, lots of muscle with a layer of fat. Not for the weak fat guys.
No, part of the reason why is if an officer takes a hit, they can pull them back quickly, as well as keeping tight formation - which is always useful in a tight area.

“Pepper ball delivery system” is what I’m going to name my paintball gun from now on. - On a serious note, this was cool to watch.

Very good video Brandon! Tell those officers they're doing a great job! Cheers
This is basically swat team for jail
The first rule of a cell extraction is to take out the cameraman. Ten COs respond to a code and 15 go off on Comp afterwards.
Now why would you say something stupid.. Like that for .
The CERT teams need to be abolished thay are BAD PEOPLE

Indeed, I believe that MOST inmates are rather cooperative; and therefore don't need the "attention" of the CERT teams.
Legitimate question, not passing judgement on any of you guys, how bothered were you by the use of a cert team in front of the White House? I've been digging and researching tactics and that appears to be what happened, and maybe you could even shed light on the tactics used. I've never seen peaceful protesters moved in that way.
Agreed. Cell extraction is a small part of my job. The biggest bit is simply being there to support other staff.
Hats off the "inmate" for enduring all that for this video.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, not sure if that was an actual model inmate that volunteered to take part in the demonstration or if it was a CO acting as an inmate.
very cool, well done brandon.
Why is the absolute beast of a unit who has to duck going through doorways going in last?
Because he has to duck... Meaning it slows down to the rest of the crew

At 1:40 when you are shooting from inside the cell, how did you accomplish this? I mean it didnt look staged so Im curious.

How effective are the fat jail guards in a fight??
Lol.
Very. In a confined space its not all cardio, its restraint. Can you use the space and control the inmate to restrain them. More mass= more control
Wanna bet
Why do people assume all CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS are fat?

It doesn’t remove the stigma of snitching at all cus they go back eventually lol
why do they put their hands on each others shoulders? always wondered.....
Amy Stabenow idk either. But since i have a stun shield myself i think it helps the stacking
Its so they can keep a tight formation
No, part of the reason why is if an officer takes a hit, they can pull them back quickly, as well as keeping tight formation - which is always useful in a tight area.
