One thing not touched on your review: this uses mini-ACOG mount footprint. So QD do exist. This looks like it would go GREAT on a PS90 with TROS acog mount. Way better than MRO and its parallax shift.
Fantastic review: so much better than the typical video that spends 15 minutes looking at a disembodied set of hands holding the product and the box. This video is exactly what we actually want to see: the rest we can get from the spec sheets / mfr docs.

This is the exact optic I got, from the last batch they had in stock. Having astigmatism, the issues discussed with red dots has been my exact experience. You're right, all issues of bloom and starbursting are gone. I'm very happy, and kind of wish I had gotten the 3x option, but that'll be the next purchase.
Fixed my astigmatism without a Dr appointment lol. Strange it seems the target is slightly smaller when looking in the prism then the actual object. I shoot both eyes open so its a little distracting to me at least. My Vortex 1x prism is a great alternative to this too.
Primary Arms knocked this one out of the park! If I was in the market for an ACOG like optic, this would fit the bill! Good bang for your buck! Affordable, good clarity, lightweight, bright enough, good for ppl with astigmatism, diopter adjuster. Love PA
I have the 1x microprism with green reticle and it is amazing! Best part about it is if the battery dies or you get wash out from snow glare or your white light, you just shut it off and the etched reticle is perfect. Fun to shoot semi auto 12 gauge with the outer ring too @25 yards and then be able to dial it in for slugs
I bought this because of the thoroughness of the review and I sold my Sig Romeo 5 and 7 because I can’t shoot them any more, looks like red blobs or flares to me now. The PA reticle is nice and clear.
As far as eye relief goes: I can hold this thing out at full arms length like a pistol and still manage to see the reticle and target. It's not as easy as a red dot at that length, but it's possible. I think that's just incredible.
Reviews for this optic always mention that but is no indication of eye relief. It's basically a scope, the further away it is, the worse the eyebox. If you are not perfectly indexed on the optic then you are just going to see black which is absolutely terrible for a reflex sight shooting around obstacles.
@@jurpo6 This has the best eye box at distance from optic of any etched reticle I own. It's significantly better than both of my LPVOs at 1x (p4xi and Bushnell SMRS II pro). It's also miles better than the original PA cyclops and the TA44. I'm not saying it's a better optic than a Steiner, high end Bushnell or Trijicon, but it's certainly better at mimicking the most desirable characteristics of a non magnified optic than all of them. You should really check one out.
I've never seen your videos before but you earned a subscription. You had excellent demonstrations of the capabilities of the review item in the conditions people are interested in: super bright and dark. You demonstrated distortion and clarity. Fantastic. You could do a better job demonstrating the sight in action by shooting. I really had to try to find something you didn't do in the video. You answered every question I had and gave all the relevant information. I hope your channel expands rapidly.
Fixed my Astigmatism without a Dr visit...priceless! I have the Vortes 1x Prism and its amazing especially for offering green and red options in 1 pkg. Glass is amazing, I had to get 2 for my home defense setups.
Great review! This optic is beautiful. Thank you C_Does for what you do. The reviews you do are not being praised enough. You are a treasure to the pew pew community and we appreciate the time and effort that you put into all these videos. Thank you.
I've also had issues with the reticle not turning on when it should due to the battery compartment. Grabbing a coin, flat head, etc and cranking down on it solves the problem.
I have the red One for about 8-9months now and it is brighter than the green. I live in the Houston area so I’m able to go by primary arms and look through their optics before I buy. And yes they’re microprism and there 2x gold line Are both really really great optics and I really like both
If you like the 1x, you may very much enjoy the 3x as well. I managed to snag a 3x, and it's a fantastic little prism. Better eye relief than a TA31 acog, better field of view than the TA33 (and 31), and weighs less than both. 9.5 oz with the high cantilever and an ADM qd mini acog mount. The adjustable diopter and daylight bright illumination makes it more usable for myself compared to an acog. My diopter wasn't super stiff. Same complaint about the illumination dial though.
I use a 3x micro prism on my hunting AR. My favorite little scope. Good to see other people know it outclasses the Acog in every aspect except for maybe clarity and durability
I have the red model, it works just as well IMO. I’ve wanted an Eotech 512 for the longest time, but having to choose which of the 4 reticles to use is frustrating, (Astigmatism)… Prism optics and LPVO’s are my only choices… love the Primary SLx1….
I've been Vortex 1x prisim user since beginning. Gave this prisim a go & I'm hooked. Some give it hard time due to lack of 0.5 MOA adjustment , I have no problem with it thanks to its very sharp chevron reticle which improves accuracy. 1" group @ 100 yards is ok with me.
Just bought my first red dot the other day. A budget one from Sig, the Romeo 5. Got the battery in it and put it up to my eye to discover that apparently I have the beginning of astigmatism. Even the lowest setting has a bit of a star effect. SO. I've had this 1x prism in mind for several years, looks like it is next on the optics list. Glad I saw one of your reviews on the subject, such a review helped me decide on the Sig Tango MSR 1-6x as well.
I noticed with some red dots or with the illumination on, sometimes the reticle is flushed out, maybe it's just the camera and maybe not. But when you turn the illumination off, with a light you still see the reticle. That's fantastic. Also, fantastic detail in the video.
Concerning the reticle: there are products on the market designed to thread into the objective lens end that should reduce or remove target's ability to see your illuminated reticle at distance. As far as the reticle design goes: I'm only minority disappointed that this reticle doesn't have subtensions like the holosun ACSS red dot does for shots out to 600 yards assuming you're using 5.56. That being said I can see why they might have forgone this on 1x (it can get cluttered) and despite the lack of the subtensions you can still use the bottom edges of the Chevron and ring for holdovers past 400 yards (with 5.56 according to Strelok). Windage would have been nice like on the 3x micro prism, but oh well. I only mention these holdovers since this optic can be used with a magnifier.
Thank you. Awesome and much needed surprise at the end. I have both the 512 and and the AEMS in hand and wasn't happy with the block looks of them on my ar9. Curves and functionality are married with this SLX. Thanks again.

great video as always, nowadays if I see you post, or SuperSetCA, i'm immediately in to watch it. Different styles/production ;) but I think you're providing solid value/review and discussion. Keep it up
Been waiting on this video. I bought two (already have two original cyclops) and I was blown away by the improvements. I'm not sure how they pulled this off with the eye box, eye relief and this clarity of Chinese glass at this price point. I'm using it with an ADM B5 mount on a 13.7 KP15 build right now and it is a ridiculously handy rifle.
This is what I’ve been waiting on Trijicon to make for years. When they started their LED ACOG models, I was sure they would make an LED 1.5x model…and now I don’t think they’ll ever get to it. I wish primary arms would come out with a $5-600 version with better glass quality. I’d upgrade in a heartbeat. With that being said, this is the optic on my MCX currently and I’m having trouble finding faults with it.
LOL! I was getting a little worried. Thinking we were about to get the full Monty! Great review as always. thank you for doing these. On your recommendation I bought the P/A 1-8x24 C and couldn't be happier for it. A simply great optic.
The red illuminated models are also quite good, perhaps a bit better if you're outdoors in a wooded , lush environment. I have 3 in red. Nonetheless, I would prefer green illumination. However, the only way to get that is with the black outer shell and my last 2 units have been in FDE to match the rifles they're on. I wish PA offered a service where you could send them in for an illumination color change. I have a couple Holosuns - an EPS Carry in green MRS and a 507 in Green MRS, which is how I know I'd like a green micro prism. They're a bit easier on the eyes than red. I'll probably get a green illuminated SLX 1X for an all black BRN-180 build recently completed. Good review - thanks.
I have two of the gen 1 Cyclops that live on shotguns. Getting 3 of the Gen 2 micro prisms with the 9 mm reticle for my PC carbines. Will probably invest in more of them since nobody else is given love to astigmatism these days
I purchased the SLx 1x based on this review. It might be a good product overall, but the reticle is far too small and I returned it. I then purchased the Spitfire AR and loved it. It has a much better reticle and comparable build quality and features at a lower price point.
I love mine. My only complaint that you didn't cover is that by using the mini ACOG mount pattern they really limited your options. I kind of wish they went with the T2 pattern like Vortex did with their new prism sights.
Sorry for the delay Carl, you do notice it. But running it with both eyes open it isn't as noticeable to me. Especially considering I run this a little farther forward on my PCC and thus it doesn't impede the FOV thay much
@@CDOES it’s not immensely better than the ACOG but certainly better. Glass is pretty decent. Not ACOG quality but closer to it than it is to the old style PA 3X prism.
This is my favorite 1x optic. I've got 4 of them. I replaced all but one of my red dots with them. Just waiting for my 3x to show up in June. Nice review.
If you do a review of the new Primary Arms 3x MicroMagnifier w/ the Pegasus ranging reticle, could you please do it with this optic. Curious to see how the two reticles line up or if they overlap. Trying to decide for a first setup and the two have my eye for a July 4th sale. Really enjoying your reviews, best on YT. Thank you
Another great vid! I have 3 of these so I obviously love them for the features you point out. I will offer a few points of feedback on them. The first is the illumination knob…across all three of mine they are very hard to turn (hardest by far of any of my optics) and two of them have a condition where the detents don’t line up with the numbers. The other bit of feedback is on the reticle and aiming at hold over distances. You might think that the bottom of the reticle “horseshoe” works like a CQB sight…just put the bottom of the outer ring on the target and that’s your hold over. It does, in a way, but if you use it that way your horizontal accuracy is going to suffer because the gap in the horseshoe is so wide. You’ll hit the target but you aren’t going to hit a 3x5 card consistently under stress. I’m still experimenting with close in shooting with this and go back and forth between using the bottom of the outer ring and just using the center dot as a holdover. I think this is one area where they could improve the reticle. Other than that I love this little optic.
In my experience it is best to just hold over without using a reference point, and think in inches, since the bottom of an eotech reticle, for example, isn't always accurate except at one distance, it is just an approximation. Stare HARD at where your aim point is going to be depending on the situation. Just think "I am going to hold over 2.5 inches" or "I am going to hold over 1.5 inches", depending on your target distance, height over bore, zero etc. Obviously, this applies to any dot, not just the cyclops here
You have the best review of this sight. The part I like most is you put your camera on user's eye perspective. I was looking to see the limitation of the eye relief since the spec doesn't say unlimited like red dot. But now I know that I don't have to worry about it. You did a really good review! Thank you.
Awesome review, thanks for the in-depth explanation. Which of these do you prefer between the Primary Arms, the Holosun 512 and the AEMS? I'm gonna be running a 3x magnifier behind whichever one I get
Hey man i gotta question. Which one would you rather buy and put on your rifle? The primary arms 1x6 sfp or the micro prism. The reason i ask is because i want to buy the micro prism but i cant justify it knowing that i could get a decent lpvo for the same amount of money.
I just got one, mounted it, and now I’m seeing two targets with both eyes open at various ranges. Turns out it had a manufacturing defect and was actually a 1.5x magnification. Not sure if I’m going to order another or get another MRO.
@@effu9375 yes I did actually. The diopter was set properly, I’m not cross eyed dominant, and the eye relief was correct. I emailed primary arms and it is has a manufacturing defect in the lenses and has been returned.
Any chance of a review of the Pegasus and full size magnifiers from PA? I'd love to see more info on them, especially the full size. Their adverts don't really explain why you'd want it over the LER.
I have the 1x and just got the 3x micro prism and they're both really great. I ditched a red dot and an lpvo for them and love it. I wish you would do one on the 3x. its not going to work well in the garage though, too much magnification.
I got one of these Scopes based on your recommendation and absolutely love it from zero to 200 yards I can hit a man size Target easily without any kind of magnifier cuz I have nice young 23 year old eyes but I'm looking to upgrade to a 20 inch upper on my AR-15 and I was wondering if you could give me a recommendation for a one to four or one to six times SFP type scope that you would recommend
For a fighting rifle, having any sort of backup is a good idea. Having an etched reticle makes no difference. If your running a red dot and the battery dies. What are you going to do? If the battery or illumination fails, at least you have the reticle. But if thr glass breaks or the internals fail then having a mbuis set is a good idea. Unless it's just a range toy. Then it doesn't matter.
Recently purchased the sight and tried it around the house: was perfect. I took it zeroing today and after zeroing I get double vision, expecially under 20yards. Above its ok but was better before zeroing. Zeroing was not abnormal just around 3 clicks left and high. I also notice a significant image shift when I close one eye and look through the sight vs normal view. Where vertikal lines where nearly straight before, they are now broken and shiften. Focus adjust does not remedy the problem. Anyone having similar problems or knows a solution? My eyesight is fine, dont have problems with red dots or lpvos.
@@nitemare5030 Couldnt make it work on mine and returned it later. The german distributor was useless tbh. I dont know if it is a design flaw or a faulty unit, but on mine it was ok on standard setting and went bad when I zeroed it. I went back to a Red dot sight after that and now I have an LPVO on order. Maybe it was for the better, as I realised that the reticle seemed fine at first and I liked it, but I much prefer a dot or traditional crosshair design. The horseshoe is taking too much space where its curcial in my opinion and the chevron sucks for precision shots.
Sounds great, but a 2 min auto shutoff that requires a significant shake or smack to turn it back on is a definite con in my mind. If it was an hour or even 30 minutes that'd be a lot more acceptable, but 2 mins? That's pretty darn quick!
if your 10' away and have the brightness on the proper level for your environment, you can see it, but you really need to be looking for it. and in that case, your right in line with the muzzle.
ive been looking at eotech but after looking thru a friends i think i might try one of these , shake awake sold me , i have sig romeo with shake awake but it starbursts with my eyes
Is there a particular 3X magnifier you'd recommend to pair with this, taking into consideration eye relief, including mounting options(QD/flip mount)? I'm considering the PA slx 3X magnifier, Vortex 3X Micro and the Holosun HM3X. Anything you push me towards or anything else you'd consider?
Primary arms cant make these fast enough! they are a huge hit and im seeing them on ebay for double the cost. i hope i can get one of these in the future.
@@awesomedave8484 Dave, I've not had any issues on eBay cuz I never ordered one lol. I'm sure the sellers are legit tho but I would never order from a scalper. I think I saw the red version in stock at primary arms website with a 12 percent off sale recently. But I'm not sure if the sale is still up.
Gonna be tough to zero more precisely than 1 MOA with a 1x. If you can hit more accurately than 1 inch with a 1x optic at 100 yards with an AR-15 with a 10 round group, I'd give you a cookie.
While im not disagreeing with you, think if you have a 2-3moa rifle and your zeroing this thing in. 1moa adjustment then all of the sudden doesnt really seem that much. If your looking to shoot tight groups or if your rifle and you are capable of 1moa or sub moa groups, then your doing a disservice by not having a LPVO at the very least on top.
@@tuffguy6852 Same here. Serious astigmatism so I can't use illuminated red dots but I've always preferred a simple dot/magnifier type setup. Some of these reticles are way too busy for short to medium range 5.56

Your review was a pleasure to watch. Well done!
This video is what made me buy the PA 1x microprism almost a full year later.
👌 I hope it met your expectations
@@CDOES it absolutely has. It's the best money I've ever spent on an optic price-to-performance, can't believe it's sub $300.
@@harryazzole7814 my joy is extreme.
This was an excellent review, very well done 👏🏻
loving the fps as always.
Pew Pew
LOL!
I was getting a little worried. Thinking we were about to get the full Monty!
Great review as always. thank you for doing these. On your recommendation I bought the P/A 1-8x24 C and couldn't be happier for it. A simply great optic.
The stairs to the laundry and laundry room was a vibe aswell ass the rooftop
Do you think you could do a review on the 3x version any time soon?
If I can get one in hand, yeah
I wish it had a BDC reticle for when it's magnified. That would be beautiful.
I know the bottom of the chevron works as a 400 yard BDC though.
I would love to see PA bring out a GLx version and maybe even a PLx with some different style reticles. I would be ALL over a PLx 1x or 1.5x
I have two of the gen 1 Cyclops that live on shotguns.
Getting 3 of the Gen 2 micro prisms with the 9 mm reticle for my PC carbines.
Will probably invest in more of them since nobody else is given love to astigmatism these days
Thanks for these reviews, saves me so much money lol. Usually have to buy one to get a good feeling of eye relief etc.
Are you able to use the ranging feature if you have a front sight post? Or does the fsp block it? Do you have to use a 1/3 co witness mount?
Thanks for this review.
I purchased the SLx 1x based on this review. It might be a good product overall, but the reticle is far too small and I returned it. I then purchased the Spitfire AR and loved it. It has a much better reticle and comparable build quality and features at a lower price point.
i still keep a red dot on my edc, but a microprism like this is going on my ar. it'll help a lot with astigmatism.
I bought green also, never tried, hope I made the right choice, just shipped yesterday
I love mine. My only complaint that you didn't cover is that by using the mini ACOG mount pattern they really limited your options. I kind of wish they went with the T2 pattern like Vortex did with their new prism sights.
I really liked your review. Thank you
That illuminator knob sticks out till tomorrow. How bad is it in actual use? Do you notice how far it sticks out?
Sorry for the delay Carl, you do notice it. But running it with both eyes open it isn't as noticeable to me. Especially considering I run this a little farther forward on my PCC and thus it doesn't impede the FOV thay much
Get your hands on the 3X next. Having used ACOG’s and other prisms, it’s far and away my favorite. I was even more impressed with it than I was my 1X.
Impressive! The Acog has incredible glass, but the eye relief is a straight up joke.
Thanks mate, and having 4 speaks louder then words.
I have 5 and waiting for my 3x as well.
Amazing review as usual
I just snagged a blem FDE one for $175 from Primary Arms. So anyome watching right now go get one!
Thank you
Thanks mate! Id love to get one, I might have to flat out buy one at this point.
@@CDOES Looking forward to the review, heard really good things for the compact size. Thanks
Second it
The one thing keeping me from purchasing this is the 1 MOA adjustments. If it was 1/2 adjustment, I'd buy it.
Obviously, this applies to any dot, not just the cyclops here
For the price, and where its made. It works well enough all things considered. Is it perfect? No, but its pretty close.
It’s as close to a red dot as a person with Astigmatism can get, great eye relief and about the same size as a red dot..I have a few of these.
You have the best review of this sight. The part I like most is you put your camera on user's eye perspective. I was looking to see the limitation of the eye relief since the spec doesn't say unlimited like red dot. But now I know that I don't have to worry about it. You did a really good review! Thank you.
glass quality on these at the $270 price is hard to beat... but they are even on sale as low as 220$ which is unreal
Where for $220??
I just got one new for $189
Where may I ask?@@JoshR-t9j
I put one on my a2 carry handle with the acog screw set.. it shoots awesome..
I have the 3x version and love it
I’m looking at this or the GLX2..I can’t decide. I’m leaning towards the GLX2
This 1x is on my PCC, the glx 2x is on a 2w3 carbine. Both are really great
@@CDOES I just got the new 3x and didn’t care for it. Thinking better glass and an x2 might be great.
I just got one, mounted it, and now I’m seeing two targets with both eyes open at various ranges. Turns out it had a manufacturing defect and was actually a 1.5x magnification. Not sure if I’m going to order another or get another MRO.
Did you READ the manual???
@@effu9375 yes I did actually. The diopter was set properly, I’m not cross eyed dominant, and the eye relief was correct. I emailed primary arms and it is has a manufacturing defect in the lenses and has been returned.
@C_Does any thoughts on doing a review & comparison of the PA 1x microprism & the new Swampfox Raider 1x microprism?
Any chance of a review of the Pegasus and full size magnifiers from PA? I'd love to see more info on them, especially the full size. Their adverts don't really explain why you'd want it over the LER.
I have the 1x and just got the 3x micro prism and they're both really great. I ditched a red dot and an lpvo for them and love it. I wish you would do one on the 3x. its not going to work well in the garage though, too much magnification.
That hasn't stopped me before!

@@TheGarmery Sorry i havent heard about the acog resurgence. but either way, whatever works for you!
I got one of these Scopes based on your recommendation and absolutely love it from zero to 200 yards I can hit a man size Target easily without any kind of magnifier cuz I have nice young 23 year old eyes but I'm looking to upgrade to a 20 inch upper on my AR-15 and I was wondering if you could give me a recommendation for a one to four or one to six times SFP type scope that you would recommend
ruclips.net/video/7FAv_nW3jZU/видео.html
And look at the vortex viper 1-6 review.
Question, do you think we still need an iron back up sight since this prism has etched reticle?
For a fighting rifle, having any sort of backup is a good idea. Having an etched reticle makes no difference. If your running a red dot and the battery dies. What are you going to do? If the battery or illumination fails, at least you have the reticle. But if thr glass breaks or the internals fail then having a mbuis set is a good idea. Unless it's just a range toy. Then it doesn't matter.
If there was an offset mount for it, I would offset next to a MPVO.
Thisll fit mini-acog mounts, so you might be able to find what your looking for.
I also tried these out and with both eyes open I get double vision
@@nitemare5030 Couldnt make it work on mine and returned it later. The german distributor was useless tbh. I dont know if it is a design flaw or a faulty unit, but on mine it was ok on standard setting and went bad when I zeroed it.
I went back to a Red dot sight after that and now I have an LPVO on order. Maybe it was for the better, as I realised that the reticle seemed fine at first and I liked it, but I much prefer a dot or traditional crosshair design. The horseshoe is taking too much space where its curcial in my opinion and the chevron sucks for precision shots.
Good review.
Sounds great, but a 2 min auto shutoff that requires a significant shake or smack to turn it back on is a definite con in my mind. If it was an hour or even 30 minutes that'd be a lot more acceptable, but 2 mins? That's pretty darn quick!
Im honestly just happy that it has a auto shut off. Ill take what I can get with that
Well done video-high quality!
Subbed✅
Very helpful, thanks
Excelent revirw, bought mine yesterday, and there is no information about the time of the auto shut of. Now I know its two minutes👍
How big of a deal is the reticle being visible from the front? Noticed the aems does the same thing.
if your 10' away and have the brightness on the proper level for your environment, you can see it, but you really need to be looking for it. and in that case, your right in line with the muzzle.
ive been looking at eotech but after looking thru a friends i think i might try one of these , shake awake sold me , i have sig romeo with shake awake but it starbursts with my eyes
Definitely look for a prism them. They wont starburst
Earned a sub. Good review and fair. About the first I've seen to talk about the front view. It is visible just don't point at their faces.
They put the battery compartment on the left, that’s a dealbreaker
I wish it had a standard mount pattern or ability to get to 2.25 so you can run a unity mag mount.
Primary arms cant make these fast enough! they are a huge hit and im seeing them on ebay for double the cost. i hope i can get one of these in the future.
any issue with fakes on Ebay? Seems a lot of them are showing up even on Amazon.
@@awesomedave8484 Dave, I've not had any issues on eBay cuz I never ordered one lol. I'm sure the sellers are legit tho but I would never order from a scalper.
I think I saw the red version in stock at primary arms website with a 12 percent off sale recently. But I'm not sure if the sale is still up.
so from your point of view this PA 1x is more preferable than both holosun you've mentioned in the end ?
first video i seen someone showcasing the green reticle... daddy like. my eyes pick up and distort green much less than red
do you have a video with your top recommendations?
Ive been told and meaning to do so. One of these days ill compile a list, keep it assorted to budget.
I really want one for my AR, but 1 MOA adjustment is rough.
If your looking to shoot tight groups or if your rifle and you are capable of 1moa or sub moa groups, then your doing a disservice by not having a LPVO at the very least on top.
it's such a niche, but for those with astigmatism it's a god send.
I really wish they would do one of these with a simple 2moa etched dot.
I would be interested in an etched dot reticle. It's a bummer I have astigmatism or else I'd just use something simple like the Bushnell trs-25.
@@tuffguy6852 Same here. Serious astigmatism so I can't use illuminated red dots but I've always preferred a simple dot/magnifier type setup. Some of these reticles are way too busy for short to medium range 5.56
