Thaks Marty. This comes in handy. I wanted to share a trick I figured out making Christmas cards. It regards putting lights in windows where there are none in a village scene. Ishot the photo during the day and put a night sky in. Then I copy the picture twice and crank up the blu in white balance on two of them wich I put bottom and top. The middle photo is cranked up to warm and made a bit brighter. If there is snow and frost on windows I want to keep intact I use blendif on the middle picture that draws out the white in the underlying original. Then I go to the top one and mask out all the windows. This way you see everything in the windows and the light is not a uniform color as I so often see. Adding snowfall on top and maybe smoke in chimneys does not spoil the fussy christmas feeling. Seeing the frost and snow on windows and what is inside also gives this three layer method a realistic debth. Maybe you can develope your own version for a tutorial next christmas. :) What I learned I learned from you and wandering the halls of photoshop with your guidance I figured this out myself Thought it would be fitting to give a chrismas tip from north Iceland, only a few miles from the noth pole.:)
