Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He’s late 70’s into the 80’s. Lotta hits. Wouldn’t know what to pick first.
@@mrsphughesRefugee is a fantastic early entry point for Tom Petty..
@@stevedahlberg8680 that’s a good one to start fer sure.
He purchased most of Lennon and Mccarthy songs during a deal .. not anything written by George Harrison
AB you have GOT TO DO "Baby Come Back by Player... behind the Beatles and the Stones they are blue eyed SOUL!!! it's FIRE
The Beatles had 40 top 40 hits and 27 #1's. The biggest band in the history of music.
They started many of the 'sounds' that are used today.
Only 55 years old,Still a classic that many others have covered. The Beatles were light years ahead of the world of that time
"Come Together" is on the Beatles' 1969 album "Abbey Road". This is one of my favorite albums. All the songs are great on it such as "Something", "Here Comes The Sun", "Oh! Darling", "Because", "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" etc.
This was the best ever. They were extremely talented. The Beatles are EPIC! Thank you for playing this..great memories 😃😃😃👍🏼
Michael got it from the goats and this was in 1969. You’re right, they never miss! The most selling act in the history of music and the most popular group ever
Michael bought them years later with Thriller album money in '82 - '83 or so.
@@debjorgonot anymore McCartney got the songs back!
@@beatlebrian4404 The settlement has not been released. Chances are Paul owns the songs now, but ATV still handles the publishing.
@@debjorgo he will owe quite a lot of the songs under the 35 year rule, this is how it sould be, the Beatles on numerous occasions, resisted financial offerings for their songs to be used in Commercials and other Enterprises which would only cheapen the songs.
@@beatlebrian4404 I have no idea what "the 35 year rule" is. The Beatles own the recordings of the music. So, to use the songs in commercials, unless they get permission, advertisers must use cover versions. They still pay for the use of the songs but not what they would pay for the recordings. That's why you hear covers of All Together Now in so many commercials.
The Beatles changed music forever. Find out why. You're welcome.
Let me congratulate you for this reaction. 👏THE BEATLES are like the predecessors to all the musicians now. Bosses 🫡
Thank you!
The Beatles became a rock n' roll band in 1960 and were signed in 1962... they took over Europe in 1963 and finally #1 in N. America in 1964... The band stopped touring in 1966 after they were frustrated w/ the volume and hysteria they encountered playing concerts that no one could hear because of the loud screaming.
In 1967, The Beatles re-made their image and sound as a studio band releasing some of their biggest records after ending their touring days... However, internal tensions were causing friction in The Beatles by 1969... after the 'Abbey Road' album was recorded in '69, John Lennon announced that he was leaving the band.
In 1970, Paul McCartney went public w/ The Beatles' breakup and sued the other 3 members to terminate their partnership (He was not doing it out of malice... he wanted all 4 members to get their fair share of money, so that their manager would not be able to rip them off...Paul McCartney was the only member who didn't sign w/ their then-manager Allen Klein)
Any possibility of a Beatles reunion ended in late 1980 when John Lennon was shot and killed by a deranged fan.
Michael Jackson was friends w/ Paul McCartney, who wrote songs for MJ and did the song "The girl is mine" (by MJ) and MJ sang on McCartney's track 'Say say say'... However, their friendship ended when MJ bought the rights to the Beatles publishing in the mid-80's against McCartney's wishes.
In 1994, 3 surviving Beatles reunited in the studio to complete 3 demo tapes by John Lennon and made them into new Beatles songs - 'Free as a bird'... and 'Real love' in 1995. A third demo was incomplete, but it was finally finished in 2022 and released in 2023 - 'Now and then'.
In 2001, George Harrison of The Beatles passed away from cancer.
You and I both just learned that MJ covered this song, from opposite sides. I only ever knew of the Beatles version, and had to go look up Michael's. Even though I was 16 when he released it, I never even knew it existed. Thanks for expanding my already extensive musical literacy.
John Lennon wrote this song (fabulous, btw). Lennon & wife Yoko Ono held nonviolent protests against the Vietnam War, called Bed-Ins for Peace.✌️ American psychologist, Timothy Leary was an early advocate for LSD, whom Lennon admired. Leary intended to run for the Governor of California & asked Lennon to write a campaign song based on the campaign slogan 👉 “Come Together - Join The Party”. The rest is history! ☮️ 💟 🌻🌻
20 years ago, Aerosmith's version of this song came on the radio. The guy I was with started rocking out to it. I told him that it was originally the Beatles. He called me a liar until I told I was willing to put $50 on it. He didn't take the bet.
The Beatles final song came out in May 1970. Everything else by them was in the 60s.
Greatest band
Don’t Let Me Down. Rooftop performance
Remember that MJ bought The Beatles publishing rights/ catalogue in the late 1980's right from under Paul McCartney 's nose! So, he definitely had permission to record this iconic song! Aerosmith also charted in 1979 with their cover of this song. But, Ringo's drumming and Paul's tasty bass make this my favorite version. This is what we call SWAMPY!😊
the sixties were wild thanks from a senior lady remember this at twelve.
This is a great song! Glad RUclips let it through! 🎸🥁🎤❤
Their official recording career went from 1963 x 1970. They changed the world of music in only seven years.
Till '69.
@@B.R.0101 Officially the final Beatles album (Let it Be) was first released on 8th May, 1970,
@@peterzimmer9549 But they recorded those songs earlier, they've been written songs in Abbey Road Studios for seven years, from 62 to 69.
@@B.R.0101 well then, Paul and John had written many Beatles tunes when they were as young as fifteen. The official breakup was in 1970. That’s when the divorce papers were signed
@@peterzimmer9549 Papers don't count for me, what if the papers were signed in ''71? Yes it's true they wrote songs before they went to Abbey Road but they never recorded something together later '69
Aerosmith also did a cover in 1978.
That's an interesting FUN FACT. Thanks for that❗
Every Beatles track is a Nucleotide, the very building blocks of Western musics DNA
I love it when you find out you knew the song. Pure gold. God bless you.
The Beatles actually had a double album of number 1 hits called the 1 album. It was the biggest selling album of the decade which commenced in 2000. MJ purchased the publishing rights to Beatles songs and also recorded hit songs with the Beatles Bass player, Paul McCartney. (McCartney is the most successful artist in the history of music).
Sadly, it was a betrayal. All business, but it stung.
The Beatles do indeed have an album of #1 hits. It was released in 1999 and became the biggest selling album of the next decade! It is called "1".😮😊! It contains over 20 hits including the songs on their Double Sided Singles which were the singles in which both sides got radio airplay. Every song on this album is a former #1 hit on the Billboard Singles Chart!
My very 1st favorite band. I got their album Meet The Beatles when i was 3. They created so many genres in 7 short years. Their song Helter Skelter is considered the 1at heavy metal song
Point of interest. M. J. asked Paul McCartney for advice on how to invest some money and he jokingly advised him to buy the royalties to the Beatles music. M. J. did it and Paul wasn't happy. I believe Michael married Elvis Presley's daughter soon after that.
I heard it a bit differently in an interview with Paul.
Now, Now.. really unnecessary information
Paul just said invest in music publishing. He didn't say invest in the Beatles. John and Paul only were given shares of the publishing in their signing deal. Dick James owned the rest. He sold his shares. They became available again around the time Michael was hitting it big and after John had been killed. Paul wanted to buy the shares with Yoko Ono, John's widow. But she didn't want to pay what they were being offered for. Michael had Thriller money and outbid Paul.
Jackson did the dirty on the Beatles.
Guess we're even. I didn't know MJ covered it. Definitely one of my favorite Beatles songs. I used to listen to it on my little transistor radio during 6th grade recess.
The Beatles defined cool.
I learned something to. Had no idea MJ did a version of this song! Great reaction to a Great Band and a Great song!
Michael owned a lot of the beatles music. I'm pretty sure he owned most of their catalog at one point.
The king of pop redid the kings of music.
Its that simple!
Lol,three friends and I won first place in our schools talent contest lip singing and dancing to this! Great song, great band!!
My reaction to your reaction is just the opposite of yours, lol. I had no idea MJ covered this song! I just looked it up & listened to a snippet & it’s certainly recognizable, but I do prefer the Beatles more limited instrumentation. I learned something new today, also!
This Song, this Band, Light Years Ahead.
Yes, this is a BEATLES song, i didn't know MJ did a cover, but I have heard Lenny Kravitz version
John and Paul met in 1957, I believe. By 1960 they were pretty much settled on their iconic name, but their iconic spelling followed not long after, if memory serves.
They "invaded" the USA via the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964, @ 3 months after JFK's assassination. Young Americans really needed some good news -- or great music. They always say location location, location. THIS TIME it was timing as well !!
I was 4 and a half years old when I heard them on one of my cousins' stereo players in their basement in Brooklyn, N.Y. THEIR bass and drums, combined with their harmonies on She Loves You electrified my little mind💣💥👍👍 -- and soul.
AND you're not mistaken about Michael Jackson. At one point, years after The Beatles breakup, Michael bought the (rights?) to The Beatles portfolio? Not sure if ownership remained with Jackson beyond his death, though.
Michael wasn't the only goat to "cover" The Beatles. Lots of artists have covered Beatles music. AND here on You Tube you can find LOTS of aspiring musicians covering Beatles music, one of them is Paul Moody. A great talent in his own right.👍👍
I fantasize all U guys on You Tube "coming together" in the spirit of Lennon's Imagine.
peace, love, success -- and happiness !!

Michael was a backstabber
And a bit too friendly with children.
Gotta say i really love your channel
The whole album “Abbey Road” is one of the towering landmarks of popular music. “Come Together” is just for openers, and away you go, for an hour of pure musical perfection, courtesy of the greatest band ever.
Beatles, the only GOATS
You had no idea this was a Beatles song? I had no idea MJ covered this song.
Paul & Michael collaborated on the song “ Say, Say, say
And "The Girl is Mine" and "The Man" 3 songs they recorded together
They also also did a song Ebony and Ivory.
When your song is covered by Tina Turner and Michael Jackson you know youre onto a winner
1969 for The Beatles, one of their final albums. Paul McCartney did a duo with Michael Jackson afterwards which was a hit in 1984 (not "The Girl is Mine" but "Say say say".) After the Beatles broke up in 1970 (you should see the documentery "Get back" btw), they departed for good. George Harrison already had his ideas and he got success ("My sweet Lord" at first, "When we where fab" and "I got my mind set on you" cover in the 80's), John Lennon before he was shot had so many hits ("Woman", "Instant Karma", "Imagine", and the ultimate Christmas Song "Happy Xmas War in Over") while Paul did his due first with the Wings to compose the theme song for the James Bond movie "Live and let die" in 1977, but also singing "Maybe I'm amazed" for his wife, Linda and Ringo Starr also has his career still going on today. At least, you should know that all of them were highly influencal on rock and pop music.
I believe that was billy preston on keyboard. The fifth Beatle.
Ringos all time favorite song. Each verse is about an individual Beatle.
❤Loved your side show! Way to go!😊
Thanks!
RINGO'S DRUMMING ON THIS TRACK IS AMAZING
Believe it or not, the entire Beatles catalogue (save the later reconstructions from old recordings) was recorded in 8 years, between 1962 and 1970.
64 to 70 was the Beatles time. Come Together was on Abbey Road. Their last album.
Michael Jackson outbid Paul McCartney when the opposition of sale for the Beatles catalog came up. That's the reason why Michael made a recording of "Come Together."
Michael bought Beatles catalogue but Paul bought it back!
I believe that the originality of beat that comes after the whispered "shoot me" is attributed to the fact that Ringo Starr is left-handed but played on a right-handed drum kit. He isn't the best drummer ever, but that configuration still allowed him to produce nice beats.
lol I had no idea Michael covered this. So much good music in the world and no way to listen to all of it.
News to me as well!
The Beatles formed in 1958, or so, but didn't get BIG until 1963. Their career was done by 1969, with the album "Let It Be". "Come Together" was on their album "Abbey Road", with that iconic picture of the boys crossing Abbey Road in London. A few bands, besides MJ, have covered "Come Together". I would suggest two for you to check out, Grateful Dead, only live, no studio album inclusions, and Aerosmith. A-smith did it in the horrible 70's movie "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", with Peter Frampton and The BeeGees. Don't watch the movie, just listen to Aerosmith cover this song. It's great.
Areosmiths version was for the film of the Beattles album Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band which also features The Bee Gees.
No one version of this song overcome this original version, even the MJ version.
I'm a little fuzzy on this but from what I remember, Mike did buy the rights of almost all(if not all) Beatles songs 20+ years ago. He basically stabbed Paul in the back. Paul was furious about this.
Wow, and that’s a crazy video too!
The video was produced by Melon Dezign in 2000 for the official opening of the Beatles website.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 What In The Michael Jackson Is Going On Here??? You are absolutely my favorite reactor!!!
Gotta do all of Abbey Road in order. Great record!
Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney the goat of songwriting teams. Credited to both it was really written by John.He was the best with coming up with word combinations
Mike asked McCartney what a smart business move would be. Sir Paul advised him to own his own songs. So Mike bought The Beatles’ catalogue much to Sir Paul’s dismay. I don’t know why Ringo or Paul didn’t own them at that time.
I did not know M.J. covered this song. Was the cover made after he bought the Beatles library?
my ' imagine' ... as an 70 + geezer - they paused recording 'Abby Road' , worked up a set, say starting with 'Taxman'. and went to Woodstock..... at the same time, Miles Davis was recording 'Bitches Brew' in NYC. different times.
The Beatles never played at the Woodstock festival.
I said it was an imaginary idea....@@fgrady1
I had no idea Michael Jackson remade it. Lol and I love Michael Jackson.
Each verse describes each member of the band.
I never knew that. Thanks❗Not surprised, given how creative they were and did a lot of " behind the scenes" messaging. Geniuses ❗

First part describes Ringo(he is the joker)
Second part George Harrison(monkey finger)
Third part John Lennon(feel his disease in reference to his controversial beliefs)
Last part Paul (the good looking Beatle)
@@noles9998 This is actually new to me and quite interesting. Is there any evidence for this?
@@noles9998Nah
Paul was making 100's of millions a year due to his song book. He decided to share the info with Michael Jackson who outbid Paul at an auction of Paul's playbook, Michael was no fool.
Dude it’s about time someone’s has opened they’re mind…😊

Hit up some Robin Trower "Little Bit of Sympathy" James Dewar one of the greatest and most underrated singers of all times! Please check out Robin Trower!
The Beaties wrote this too.
Aerosmith also did this cover in the movie St.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Each verse is about each member of the band.
❤
Michael Jackson owned the rights to The Beatles library.

🏆🏆🏆🏆!
MJ bought the whole Beatles Catalog and so owned all their songs until he died. Then, Paul McCartney was able to buy back their catalog.
The Beatles were together from 1960-1970.
jackson's version is called a "cover." anyone can pay to cover a song written by someone else. (also, in the 1980s jackson had bought the rights to most of the beatles' songs. it made him a fortune. but he still had to pay to cover the song.)
in their early days the beatles released many cover songs including a few originally written and performed by black artists like "twist and shout" (the isley brothers) and "you really got a hold on me" (smokey robinson and the miracles). thanks for the video.
Well I never knew Michael Jackson covered Come Together. Lol.
Aerosmith covered this in the movie Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Bee Gees were also in the movie. I’m not clear on the details, I haven’t thought about it in decades but everyone connected to the movie were ’cursed’ as a result. Aerosmith for example couldn’t get a hit until Run DMC came into their lives
Check out video of their historic roast performance together, of this, and other songs from the rooftop of their building in London, until the police arrived and shut them down.
last not roast *🤷♂️

Grovey has been around for long time.😊
I always loved this song until John was assassinated and I realized he sings "shoot me" at the beginning and a few times during the song. I'll never forget how devastated I was hearing on the news that he had been murdered in 1980. Still it's an awesome song.
Check.out Paul and Jackson, they did a few songs together in the mid 80's
Yellow Submarine & LSD
Michael snaked Paul McCartney, outbid him and bought the Beatles catalog after Paul innocently suggested to Michael he invest in music publishing!!!😒😒 I worked on the "Say Say Say" video and that was when they had that conversation!
Paul was not happy about that!!!
Paul now owns the catalog of his music, but it took decades for him to get it!!!👌👌👍👍✌✌😁😁
Betrayal. MJ probably learned business from his Dad. Cutthroat.
lol everyone has done a song from the Beatles including the crooners of the era like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and others
Yes this is the beatles song. Aerosmith made a cover of it.
Aerosmith also did a version of this song. The Beatles were 1963 to 1971
1969. Michael owned the Beatles Richtschnur in the Late 80s
I'd love to see you react to the version of this from the movie Across The Universe.
If I'm not mistaken MJ bought all the rights to the Beatles music.
Yes, McCartney was a bit careless back then. In the meantime he is working, not without success, to buy back the rights.
GODS!
Inbetween the Beatles creating the original, and MJ remaking it, somewhere Tom Jones played it on the Tonight Show and gave a good rendition of it.
Most of the song is coded full of sexual innuendoes. For example, "mojo filter" is a condom. (Took me over 40 years to figure that one out.)
Crosswalk is Abby Road..
I had no idea Michael covered this. I know that Aerosmith did.
