@@daple1997 Nah you can make significantly more than that in Moscow (4-5k), but the cost of living there is also quite high compared to any other city in Russia and is more or less on par with good european cities and some capitals. 3-3.5k USD is what you can easily get on a senior position in St Petersburg (2nd russian megapolis), while a middle-level position would be like 2-2.5k.
He is not overpaid, he is just smart and work for the top firms. IT folks earn well but his level of pay is for gifted folks. It's not your average joe who took community tech classes and think they will be an overnight millionaire

At first I got depressed seeing that his monthly expenses are greater than my annual income in India in terms of INR. But after comparing some basic expenses in US and in India, I got some sense of satisfaction that my income is not that bad too, as compared to cost per service in both the countries. I mean we can get the same type apartment for less than the quarter price in one of India's most expensive cities (in terms of rent).
All of that holds true except when it comes to tech stuff. For some reason graphics cards, CPUs and phones are sold at a higher price over here than over there.

spent all my money when i was young. When i was in my mid 30s I realized with all the money I made working I had nothing to show for it. Then I realized its not about how much you make, but how much you spend. Im 40 now, made little over $8k last month. Drive a salvage title car with 160k miles, pay $355 to rent out a room. My total expenses for this month probably won't go over $1300. The money i save i invest. Its not even about becoming wealthy, I just felt like I had to grow up

Jona, do like me, whenever you buy something that is easily resalable (not sure if the corggies apply to this statement), you should integrate those items in the calculation of your net worth as a fixed asset. Every month they will loose value, so the amount you should spend on crazy shit is the total of these depreciations. Whenever some say I'm spending too much, I just say: "I'm not spending, I'm absorbing the costs of depreciations by increasing my fixed asset turnover". +1 point for smarty pant :-D

Jona, do like me, whenever you buy something that is easily resalable (not sure if the corggies apply to this statement), you should integrate those items in the calculation of your net worth as a fixed asset. Every month they will loose value, so the amount you should spend on crazy shit is the total of these depreciations. Whenever some say I'm spending too much, I just say: "I'm not spending, I'm absorbing the costs of depreciations by increasing my fixed asset turnover". +1 point for smarty pant :-D
