I think it’s kind of a funny coincidence that you uploaded this video right after I rode Flash for the first time. It is an amazing system, and I really look forward to the future expansions of Flash, especially the 355 route.
In 2017, Ride On introduced a limited stop bus service called Ride On extRa (route 101). The service replaced wmata routes J7/J9. Recently, there are two new routes being added ("lime" and "pink) to provide service from Shady Grove to Traville Transit Center.
11:00 nice UTC time on the display!
I agree with all of your comments about this BRT line. First, these lines are BRT in name only. There is no dedicated right-of-way and the buses are caught up in all our normal traffic. The secret to effective BRT is to attract people who use cars but these Flash buses aren’t any faster or more convenient than an automobile because there is no private right-of-way. I recommend you try riding MTA Route 201 which runs 7 days a week between Gaithersburg and BWI Thurgood Marshall airport and BWI AMTRAK. It stops at Burtonsville and it is operated with coach buses with restrooms for a $5 fare. It’s a great bargain and a great ride.
Hi! Thanks for the comment and the suggestion. I’ll put that on my list of potential video ideas :).
This is such niche content but I’m completely here for it!! I hope you keep up the amazing work, the quality and detail of your videos are incredible:)
Thank you!
Great video! I love learning about transit in other places!
Very interesting.
Missing trips is an everyday occurrence at Ride On
Unfortunately that seems to be the case. Although it is waaay better than during COVID.
6:22 thats the new bus annoucements Ride On added last year.
Ride On is planning to add more FLASH routes that will replace its regular ride on routes and wmata routes
Last year, I rode the pulse BRT in Richmond, Virginia. It has dedicated bus lanes and signal priority, so it doesn't get stuck in Richmond's notorious traffic. Well, at least not as much anyway. The biggest disappointment was the lack of frequency. I waited 35 minutes at one stop! How the blazes is a 35-minute wait considered rapid transit? My shortest wait for a regular GRTC bus was less than half of that. I'd say my average wait time for pulse buses was about 15 minutes. Sorry, but I'm failing to see what's rapid about this.
2:34 is that a bus farebox in a waterproof enclosure?!?
Probably is waterproof considering it is outside (although under a roof).
i actually used to live here and think that the strip mall is being redeveloped
Devised as a way to cheap out on a proper electric tramway; popularized in Latin America; BRT: Banana Republic Transit.
At least they’re building the Purple Line 🤷
@@nathantransitj How was the politics with the rail-trail interests? as I understand a lot of the right of way got paved over.
Z6 and Z8 are much better.. Flash is always late. Waste of money..
are you American?, you made it sound like you're not American with the "American" high school comments.
Yes, I am American but I know that not all my viewers are :)
