I liked the way the Leafs played tonight. Washington is no joke this year, and we stuck with them for the whole game. Logan Thompson made some incredible saves, so GG Washington.
I would have coached these last two games differently & put Murray in against DET & Woll vs WSH. Murray is NOT the same calibre as he has been before & the Leafs needed to showcase what their #1 can do against a top-tier team. Boys played hard & didn't get the bounces they needed. We seriously need a better 4th line & 2 capable Centres... ugh.
The teams were well matched, I think the goaltending was the difference. Not that Murray played badly, it's just that he was outplayed by Thompson, who had a great night.
The team put in a solid effort, generating enough chances to win, but poor finishing and costly mistakes made the difference. Both sides played well, but the game came down to goaltending, and Murray clearly came up short. While not all the blame falls on him-some goals were inevitable, and defensive lapses created prime scoring opportunities-a few were undeniably soft. With Woll or Stolarz in net, this might’ve at least gone to overtime. The offensive pressure was a positive takeaway, but this game highlighted the team’s heavy reliance on goaltending-and just how precarious that dependence can be.
@theliftexpert Yes. The refs WERE the problem, AGAIN. Nylander got pulled down to the ice, no penalty along with all the times the refs did nothing while Leafs players were interfered with, on the receiving end of dirty plays.
@@bpearsell ok , I didn’t see the game… just watched these highlights. I will take your word for it and say that the refereeing sucked …..lol Murray might have got outplayed as well though….
The leafs played well, but they didn't capitalize on their chances... it was a good game, but the leafs need to start winning these games, against tough opponents....
TY Jelly man HNY to you all.what can I say Caps goalie saved their game totally robbing our boys who I think just had to much turkey lol. Next year they better pick up their socks and play team hockey.
Leafs have a good team this year but.... not so good that they can dress 2 seat warmers. What is Holmburg and Dewar doing? Every other shift has the team down a player with them on the ice. Like them or not, Alex Nylander and Reaves brings more to the team than Holmburg, Dewar or Minton do.
Why does Matt Murray continue to get chances. He has been awful for years now. Plus, why take development time away from our prospect goalies ??? Also, why put him in against the second nigjt of s back to back against the leagues best? With decisions like this, having 2 mil to the leagues biggest goon whi hasnt fought once, no true number kne d for over a decade and you people wonder why we cant get oast the first round. The problem is deeper than the " core four" for every great decision * stolarz" management makes, they make about four horrendous ones, Reaves, Kampf, not addressing the 3c position in the offseason, continuously giving Hollmberg ice time... Need I go one?!
Maple Leafs outplayed themselves. Too many sad-sack powerplay efforts and dubious netminding. Never has the lack of goaltending redundancy which existed earlier felt so detrimental to this hockey club.
Unfortunately, the Leafs' attack has become very weak in recent games. Having a number of such high-class forwards, they play so primitively and toothlessly in attack! What nonsense! Their coaches need to worry about this, and not just about their willpower.
Like, this has got to stop. Polivere needs to win a carbon tax election, NOW, so he can point a theoretical gun at Uncle Gary and say "If you keep screwing NHL teams from Canada out of winning games, American City teams will have to pay 10 times as much money just to come to Canada.

Tavares’s opening goal. One might say that Johnny was superb, man….
I feel like with Stolarz in net we could have won that
@@floop74 ...ok...
What game were you watching?
Did we watch the same game? The leafs were awful
Outstanding commentary- these two guys are clued in and colorful. Fun to listen to. Holy Mackinaw!

...and the Leafs' primitive offensive play...
@@hockey5525 I don't know, they made some great plays, and Thompson had at least two HUGE saves to make. They looked pretty good, if you ask me.
Without Anthony Stolarz, its becoming very apparent the leafs can't keep the puck out of their own net

Waited for this tonight, LeafsHd Joe 💙 Thanks for, Sharing . See you on,Tues . Have a good night.
Where are the f'n refs? I counted at least 5 no calls for the Late before the 3rd period!
Best place for Leafs Highlights.
methinks Murray needs to not be in net. It is clear they do not have confidence in him as they do Stolarz or Woll.
How did the Keystone Cops aka Leafs manage to score 2 goals? 😂
Refs not calling penalties, cost the Leafs AGAIN. SERIOUSLY, the NHL Officials are a f***ing joke.
Hmmm I am not sure 🤔 that the refs were the problem……lol

Murray sucks. It's crunch time and he lets in 2 week goals to start the game?
Get rid of him. He's proven he can't do the job.

Not hearing to much about Matthews catching the GR8 in goals, crickets!

Leafs on you tube is amazing. Fast forward straight to the loss

влететь барашкиным всегда печалька
Man we keep losing our games in hand, happened last year too
...exactly like that
Is this a sign of the playoffs???
ffs...where is Stolarz ?
anybody missing Matthews? Maybe we should trade him, 😂?
Did everyone in sports sign a contract where they have to call William Nylander "Willy"?
Holy Mackinaw. These two announcers are terrible. Bowen is a true homer and Ralph is as boring as Mickey Redman in Detroit.

sweet
When did the Laffs last win 6 or 7 games in a row
Billions in literal talent, nothing to show. Based on everything but points, they are on the level with the flyers. Gf Ga etc.
...exactly like that!
Leafs still not tough enough to be a playoff team - Washington knows how to screen our goalie and win the blue paint
Nearly new year but for Leaf fans more of the same old. same old? Beaten at home by the Capitals, enjoy the Holidays!
