This is a great video for several reasons, the primary one being you kept this affordable. Most videos, such as those from the manufacturer, have so much prep work and added requirements that it becomes far too expensive and defeats the whole purpose.

I can't wait to give it a try in my own backyard, and I'm even more excited to use Backyard Bases geocells for added stability. The combination of the Groundgrid system and geocells seems like the perfect solution for creating a durable and long-lasting gravel drive.

GroundGrid is a good product. I used some under a shed that didn't have a floor (imagine a tiny pole barn) and it really helps the gravel from moving under foot. If you wet and tamp the gravel, it locks nicely and gives a nice, firm floor. The problem was that the gravel pad was about a foot bigger around than the shed (on purpose to keep wet grass away from the walls) and always found it's way into the grass and beat the hell out of my mower blades. The solution was to form up a small curb around the shed and pour concrete as a barrier to keep the gravel contained. It added about $200 to the project, but it looks much better and keeps all but the occasional piece of gravel contained. If you are interested in this product, I highly recommend taking a bit more time and spend a bit more money to build some form of curb around the area. Even pavers would do the job. Great video!
2:35 for everyone outside Georgia this is 3/4" clean gravel. 2:39 about 7yds for the rest of us. Just not seeing the benefit here. I could see it being more beneficial on slopes to hold the gravel in place.
Or, just drop large crushed rock (4-6") and lay enough crushed rock with fines (Class II minus) over it to make a base comparable to how rural gravel roads are made. A good composite rock base floats, and makes all the difference, costs less, and lasts indefinitely.
Could this work as a footpath with a gentle incline that also is very briefly a shallow waterway when it rains really hard? Will any flow of water over it just get diffused or will the stones get washed out. Side of my garage into to backyard needs a footpath but when it rains hard water actually flows right over the length spot that needs a path.
Just curious, I am looking to do a hillside to plant on. I have landscaping fabric down now and about an inch of solid that hasn’t washed away from last summer. I would like to use this product to keep my soil from washing away. Would I need to dig down as you did for the gravel ? Thanks for this video, love from 🇨🇦.

I roll over it daily with a tractor, truck, or atv and it’s held up great! I did add about a 1/2 a scoop of gravel about 2 weeks after use. Since I added gravel I have done nothing to it.
for additional support you could have laid an underlayment of unwoven (spun) geofabic. If you really suffer from standing water and mud you can always add in a french drain along the edge of the cement. Nice video.

Some of them are just terrible like infomercials almost. My question is if you dig down and make the perimeter frame 2.5-3" deep. Why do I need the ground grid? I'm a good old Georgia boy myself and wouldn't be clay around The Rock keep my rock from going anywhere, since I am removing and dig down and framing it in...? Sorry I'm kind of thinking out loud as I message you this. I'm thinking I would like to do this as I need an extra parking spot on my driveway. My driveway has a 5/12 slope roughly. Another code is I can't have loose rock as a top layer which is ridiculous also. No 57 stone packed down is going to be picked up by my ride lawn mower I've tried. I would like a little spot for my barn like you have also. That's pretty flat in the backyard though. I guess I just don't understand what the grid does? Besides makes smaller holding spots for the rock as holding power...? But you can't see it as it's buried completely in your video.. Then, Ill sprinkle in some dry concrete over top of the Rock to make it a "Joe Biden's reverse everything Trump did that was good for the country poor working man's inflation's slab" ?? It will be flush with the original driveway.
Red clay 4 inches down covered in gravel most likely will not produce weeds. You'll get weeds from any eroded soil that makes its way into the gravel post install

You didn't lay geotextile under the ground grid. In my neck of the woods the ground is very mucky and the gravel will sink into the mud.

Commercial grade woven poly would be better to keep gravel from sinking.
