My grandpa had Alzheimer’s disease... and passed away three years ago. I barely have any memories of him before he got this illness. I lived with my grandparents during the time he was at his worst, including the day of his passing. It got to a point where the only way he could consume calories was through piping liquids down a tube. For him to be able to breathe we had to suck the mucus buildup in his lungs several times a day. My grandma was heartbroken. The whole time he stayed at home (apart from the emergency visits at the hospital every 3 months), she was by his side attentively taking care of him all the time, and always thought of him. I remember the day she had to stop sleeping next to him in order to hire a helper to aid him while he sleeps (flip him every 4 hours to not get rashes, dump his urine tray etc). She would wake up daily, every 4 hours just to check if my grandpa was being properly treated, and the worker is doing what he is told. Although my grandpa lived his life on the bed for so long, he always had a great heart due to his younger active days. Ironically, he ended up dying due to a heart problem. My grandma never felt more empty afterwards, as she lost her 70 years long partner that she had spent 6 years of her waking moments entirely consumed with looking after him.
Rest In Peace grandpa. May your suffering had ended.

My aunt had Alzheimer’s and it’s hard to watch her go through she eventually forgot to walk and remember how to talk that left her bed bound and sad part is there’s no cure for this disease

It's tough to look after someone who is living with Alzheimer's. My granny was diagnosed with dementia a couple of months ago and therefore I understand how horrible it feels. My 86 year old mom doesn’t need any assistance with a lot of the things here like help getting dressed. She’s able to do 300-500 piece puzzles. She doesn’t drive. Her short term memory is non existent. Repeats herself over and over but doesn’t seem to have trouble with language. She doesn’t exhibit sun downing. I have no idea where to place her on this scale.
A friend of mine worked at a nursing home she recalled that some paitents with alzheimers would forget like names of family members loved ones all that, but at the same time they would always remember their daily smoke. Even if they were on CPAP or barely speaking they would always remember their smoke.
My mum's family is susceptible to alzheimers I hope I don't get it but you never know
u know what my grandma had this but she survived she has her memory back now she literally couldn't talk she couldn't stop talking one day she lost her voice she screamed at me hit me things that she never did before it god so bad the ambulance was called but now she's healthy eating and has her memory back thanks God:D:D💜💜

In the show Arthur, his grandpa has dementia or Alzheimer's. The show never specified either or. I think he's either at Stage 5 or 6. He got lost around his own farm, and he couldn't remember Arthur's name. It was a close guess, though. He guessed Arnold. If it's that far ahead, it makes me wonder how long the grandpa will still be alive. :(
Hello, I'm a care giver to my mum of 84 dementia my main problem is she is reluctant to sleep at night and wishes to sleep all day long should i let her do as she likes or fight this noting that when she sleeps all day long she becomes totally confused about day and nights

My mother is in her 7th stage from last one and half year.... so what next? So she will remain permanently in this stage for the rest of her life😖
