The drone was on a team of 6 where we split costs, metal was donated from my part-time job (free), roller coaster was about $500 of my savings - worth it in the end!
Why do all the MIT kids seem to come from upper middle class to wealthy families? Just that lumber alone would be thousands of dollars, I couldn't even get $30 off my parents when I was growing up to buy a c++ programming book.
@@pullup935 He saved up for a large acreage property and a two story A-Frame house and a large work shed by working a minimum wage job as a teen? The large concrete driveway alone is easily worth over $50,000 not including the 3 modern cars sitting on it.
300 foot roller coaster, made of 30 sections that are 10' long. I used 4 2x4x10s to make each section, and they go for 6$ at the Lowes near my house. this equates to 24$/10 feet of coaster, or a total cost of 720$ in the current market, and I received a bulk deal that I can't remember the exact figure for, so it was about 500-600$ for the lumber. I also worked 2 part time jobs at this time and paid for it that way. We also had a bunch of spare lumber from previous house projects that I tried to take scraps from if the sizing was right!
Cool projects! Darn 2min limit I’d love to see more of the fertilizer drone.
Good luck with your app!!!
All I can think of is how impressive it is that a high schooler afforded this 😅. That drone is expensive. Not to mention the metal.
