I very well agree with Sanjeev Sanyal Sir. I also spent several years on upsc prep now i am doing mba from IIFT, now even if I dont call those years wasted its true i didn't learn anything tangible which could earn me a monetary benefit and another thing he talked about is the cult status of upsc created by coaching instututes which very well is true even you quit your prestigious IDAS job to coach upsc aspirants, if it was so good why did you quit your job, and if you did you should motivate people for some skill based learning or entrepreneurial venture which you yourself are doing now, please guide and influence youth with proper care

Though for the UPSC preparation, the students reads( in deep) the most basic and important book of India "the constitution" for the first time... In fact, more than 70 percent citizens don't know the PIL or the working of indian judiciary, bureaucracy, political system etc... If some people made this a business through their coachings, then why do we blame the UPSC preparation system for this??

"large parts of bureaucracy are dull and boring" this statement is misleading, because if anyone find bureaucracy is boring then working whole day in Excel and PowerPoint in corporates will be 100 times more dull and boring for him. So I don't think anyone should take decision on basis of this because most of the job (wheather it's government aur corporate) is same in term of nature. If you want an adventurous life go for any profession or start a business.
Your are right , but larger part of bureaucracy is also office job where one has to deal with files and computer in the cabin. There are many civil services and among them only ias and ips provide opportunity of field work that too at lower levels like sdm and collector .
Maturity is when you realise that every feild need time and hard work.👍

Now number of students who don't make it. 12 00 000(based on 2023 data)
12,00,000×5 = 60lakhs of years which is 52,56,00,00,000 hours of INDIAN Youth.. That too in One single Year

Sanyal ji statement was the need of time because we can direct youthful energy towards better things rather than guide them towards coaching institutes.
The goct should first create quality jobs and develop skills... I am from down south. Many youth are going to canada and EU on student visa and end up doing blue collar jobs....
Finally,i recommend all guys to trained ur mind neutral,it would help not preparation but also carrer🙏

If we see it objectively UPSC CSE preparation is only worth it if the individual gets into the top 3 services: that is Indian foreign service, Indian Administrative service and Indian Police service. Other services are just not worth it. Many individuals working in services apart from the above mentioned 3, resign from their service after working for 10-12 years and join attractive opportunities in private organizations. The growth opportunities, job satisfaction levels and exposure is very limited in other services.
For example in the IRS, IAAS, ICLS, ITS, IDES, IDAS, etc after spending a decade the growth opportunities come to a stand still. Remuneration is on the lower side, even if we include all the perks &facilities. Career becomes a joke and depression starts setting in. It becomes a disgusting loop of mediocracy which you are unable to escape. You end up becoming a high end government clerk.

Present me upsc exam dene bale me mostly student Village se related hote hai. Village me sports , Olympic games ka infrastructure nhi hai. Good doctor or engineer banne me language problem vi ati hai student ko.

Asli problem yeh hai ke har koi entrepreneur hoga, yah sabko govt milega par private sector me bhi achhi job milna muskil hai, aur agar aap govt sector me bhi contractual ka job laga dete ho tab bhi aapki salary 20k se jyada nehin hoga. jaise ki US me har kisi ke liye ek margin hai salary ka jisse ki woh samaj me ek achhi khasi life ji sake , lekin humare idhar private me salary buhut kam hai . yeh log sarkar ko jo salary dikhate hai utna salary dete nehin. Aur har kisike paas na to zameen hai ki khetiwari kare na ki itna paisa hai ki business kar sake. pata nehin youth ka kya hoga, meri bhagwan se yehi prarthna hai ki har kisiko kam mile.
But I think 2 attempts is enough and even necessary.because it is also kindblike challenge increase our reading style

Upsc is only good for coaching walas out of11 lakh+ aspirants only900+ people are selected out of which only for ias&ips we add glamour, have anybody inuk,usa,France,Germany,Jagan etc heard of their category of administrative &police services, in usa there is a saying usa is made from entrepreneurs in us there are crores of entrepreneurs from small to fortune 500 so they are giving taxes to usa so it is flourishing where as in India small &medium enterprises are disencouraged with with own govt policies &our politicians don't let a single opportunity in defaming entrepreneurs the only entrepreneurs flourishing in India are either politicians or those who have good ties with politicians,now India is also changing & a day will come that every responsible citizen of this country will question these so called ias ,ips &public servants about their services to this nation with the taxpayers money
I agree with each and every word of Gaurav sir but ...I don't fully agree with Sanjeev sir ... Upsc can't be a wate of time ...Because without bureaucrats a nation can't function that's why sardar Vallabhbhai patel told bureaucrats as steel frame of the country...and even if one fails to crack the exam he or she will have atleast knowledge about anything and everything and I don't think gaining knowledge is wasts of time ....But I think giving 2 or 3 attempts are ok but not more than that then it will be the wastage of time...
And then comes that why Indian youths target UPSC and don't aspire to become entrepreneurs or business man like Mukesh Ambani because most of the people don't have the incentives or that amount of money and resources to start a business and it's like a impossible thing for middle class people and then about sports...well it's our society which gives much respect to a person who is good academically than to a person who is good in sports....so yes UPSC needs some reforms but can't be called as wastage of time atleast
Everyone is taking about business and all kinds of stuff but if there's not enough security how's business and all of that stuffs gonna happen and the people responsible for providing security are the IPS officers and the army officers who are recruited through UPSC only
For 900+ posts 11 lakh +people compete what about the remaining 11 lakh who dont qualify &how many years will it take to qualify for those 11 lakh people who don't qualify in upsc
